I've got a lovely OPI polish, here today, aragon tomorrow, that is black with a greenish sheen.

Auld, that is a gorgeous one

Yes yes and yes! Matte, glossy, glittery, French black tips, reverse French, I think black is classy yet edgy at the same time

I prefer a matte black :)

I wear black nails, fingers and toes, a lot. But I tend to the goth in style anyway.

Black goes with everything!

Yes as long as it's perfect and not chipped at all

But I prefer a really dark nearly black like Rouge Noir, as I'm so pale that black looks very harsh on me

Yes! But will probably court controversy here: only if you've got pale, pale white hands and no skin blemishes. Black nail varnish on olive-toned or darker skin doesn't do justice to that skin colour imo. Black varnish on pale white skin: you see the varnish, you see the skin, both are enhanced. Black varnish on darker skin: you see a general tone with not enough contrast/relief. Olive to darker skin comes alive with pale and vibrant varnishes. Just my opinion.

'Yes as long as it's perfect and not chipped at all'

Yes x10000 to this, and that goes for any nail colour if you ask me. I have a colleague who often wears dark nail varnish but it's so chopped it's more off than on. Gives me the icks

On my toes nails and I have olive skin. I look awful in pastel colours but black is stunning. Use gels as well so lasts for ages

Black, navy, dark purple, dark grey ... the only nail varnish I wear! Mainly dark grey with a shimmer at the moment. I have very short nails though.

Definitely a yay, black everyday for me. I love it. Or dark browns or purples very rarely, but I always return to black. It is timeless!

I strongly agree with PP about it needing to be perfect though, chipped nail varnish in any colour is just gruesome 😷

Big fat yes from me! But agree that it looks better on shorter nails.

I'm currently in Essie 'Bobbing for Baubles' which is v dark blue and am going for 'Luxedo' also Essie next week.

I love black though. Was in that last week. A sick part of me doesn't actually hate it when it chips either!!

I think dark colours look great on short neat nails. On long nails they look too witchy.

Nay-black nails are over. Try a dark dark blue or a very dark red/green instead.

I’d love to be able to pull off black nails. I just don’t have the right skin tone or nail shape (I think it suits naturally ‘beautiful’ nails; long nail beds but short tip length). I’ve tried it once and I just looked like a throwback to my teenage goth days. Hmm

I am sporting some on my toes as we speak! I love it.

I like black with a gold glittery topcoat, but not on its own (for me). I prefer very dark greys, navys, reds etc on my nails to proper black.

'am going for 'Luxedo' also Essie next week. '

One of my favourite colours ever. Enjoy Grin

I love the idea of black nails, but they always look bad on me. If it had a very fine shimmer it would be ok.

I have an OPI that's a deep shimmery graphite/purple, I think it's beautiful, serves the purpose of black but is more chic. Will dig it out soon and put the name here. I don't often see it mentioned.

I second what musictomyears said about rimmel black cherries, have got that colour too. Have now bought the black one from rimmel, think It's called black out. I have to use the 60 seconds to dry ones due to a total lack of patience.

My Rimmel one is Black Cab and that’s just straight forward no nonsense black. I think Black Cherries is my favourite shade ever though.
