Practical mum boots

Hi, I'm desperately in search of something to replace my trusty boots. They are from Clarks, 3 plus years ago...

I'm looking for flat ankle / calf boots, that pull on, suitable for park, days out with kids, walks ( paths not hiking) , beach etc but also town. Easy on/off for endless trips to soft play or trying to get them on whilst holding a toddler.

I quite like the look of desert boots but not sure how hardy they would be?

I have sheepskin uggs and hardly wear them as they don't grip and don't like wet grass.

I also have tan Chelsea boots that I love and wear a lot but a bit slippy for more outdoorsy days.

Will post pics below of my old ones.

Thanks

I've just got a pair of Dr Martens Rosa boots.....they are incredibly warm and comfy, and I wear them everyday walking the dog, run them under the hose and then pop them on for going out with skinny jeans. Amazing soles and grip too. I've a pair of very expensive Uggs in black leather and they're the worst boots I've ever bought for grip and comfort.

Thanks Jane I'll look into DMs, they look the sort of thing!

Totally agree about uggs, I've skidded over so many times they're resigned for indoor use.

Clarks have these in at the moment (pic) - part of me thinks they're cool and different, the other part of me thinks they are trying too hard!

Sorry OP I think the Clarks ones are vile but the DMs are gorgeous (but then I love Irregular Choice shoes so what would I know?)

Polkadot1974 · 30/09/2017 22:07

The DMs look lovely.

Babytalkobsession · 30/09/2017 22:10

Haha ok I hear you on the clarks ones! Grin

Just searched the DMs and they're steel toe safety boots so might be a bit heavy for my needs.

Shame though, love the colour of them.

Just bought some Teva Nopal boots they’re lovely.

Also have a look at Merrell, still have my decora chants from a few years ago they are amazinf

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 30/09/2017 22:16

The Clarks ones look like Nana bootee slippers. They’d go great with a polyester nighty.

I like the DM’s though. How comfortable are they to start with though because Doc Marten’s are usually an absolute bastard to break in.

JaneEyre70 · 30/09/2017 22:21

I've not had any issues breaking these in, they're fur lined so very soft. And very easy to get on and off as they've got loops on. I've not noticed any weight from the steel toes.

Ttbb · 30/09/2017 22:54

Buy sone proper hiking boots. They last forever and are super comfy.

dantdmistedious · 30/09/2017 22:57

What dole have you hit on your Chelsea boots? I have rubber soles ones that I wear everywhere. I also have a pair with leather soles that are super slippery.

Sorry op but your pair are horrid!

Unhappyyear1 · 30/09/2017 22:59

These are like your old ones

I don't know about "mum boots" but I have my eye on these:

www.clarks.co.uk/c/Trace-Fall/p/26129179

Clarks have 20% off until midnight tomorrow.

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 30/09/2017 23:21

Fleece lined DMs.

Yesterday I stuck some crampons on the bottom of them and walked with DS through a tunnel made of ice.

They are all terrain mum boots and cannot be faulted Grin

amousehaseatenmypaddlingpool · 30/09/2017 23:22

Mine are regular lace ups, not the Ugg type thing.

Nearlyadoctor · 01/10/2017 08:32

Timberland are worth a look, I have one pair of their Chelsea boots and a knee high pair of boots and they are great. Really comfy, no breaking in and seem to last forever.
Also 10% off if you sign in on their website.

RunRabbitRunRabbit · 01/10/2017 08:35

I've got these UGG waterproof boots

They are warm, waterproof, good grip. I love them.

Spudlet · 01/10/2017 08:37

I love those Rosa boots! [Eyes up Dh, after all Christmas is coming...]

Squashit · 01/10/2017 08:40

Have a look at Softinos. They have that fling on and off quality.

Also Red or Dead Moira Monday for a tougher leather.

I have nothing to add but I love this Boots thread. I need a new pair of boot. Can I ask the poster who posted the DM Rosa Boots do they stay looking lovely? I walk my dog in the woods daily and feel that everything gets wrecked so quickly?

cheesydoesit · 01/10/2017 12:43

www.schuh.co.uk/womens/rocket-dog-trumble-brown-boots/1561256060/ What about something like these? Not sure how hard wearing they would be though. I LOVE the DM Rosas. I have just googled them and two different pairs appear to have come up. One with a fur cuff and one without, or has it just been rolled down and styled differently? Does it come in teak and then a lighter shade? I am very tempted.
