Opinions on these ankle boots?

Been looking for a pair of flat black ankle boots that I can pretty much pair with most of my outfits (not that they vary much tbh lol). I came across these and just wanted some opinions on these booties from New Look?

Opinions on these ankle boots?

I too think that they look like builders boots.

Paintbox · 22/09/2017 16:29

They do look a bit like workmans boots I think. It's the laces coupled with the fabric part I think

alphajuliet123 · 22/09/2017 16:34

How about these Converse boots? I want them!! What do others think (now I've jumped on the boot bandwagon)? My friend hates the studs on the back but I like them.

Why don't you look here.

I have really picky feet and can recommend these 'Suedette Ankle Boots' I did a whole day in London with these - not what you're looking for I know but there are lots of other options, and you can choose a number of pairs

Laladog · 22/09/2017 16:47

By that logic Dr. Martin's look like "builders boots", and look how popular they are.

OP they're really nice boots x

Paintbox · 22/09/2017 16:54

Fair point lala but I think the metal bit on the laces and also the fabric part looks quite different to docs and quite like work boots. Docs are such a distinct item of footwear that they just look like themselves and nothing else imo

dantdmistedious · 22/09/2017 17:01

Personally I don't like them - I think the fabric tips and the eyelets make them look cheap.

I wouldn't think what hideous boots if I saw someone wearing them though.

PinkDonuts · 22/09/2017 17:36

MoosicalDaisy Wow £5 For a pair of shoes lol even if I didn't wear them im so tempted to buy a few pairs anyway. I'm a bit scared that they'll fall apart in the rain, but it's too tempting not to get a few pairs

I've just bought my fourth pair of Clarks Orinoco. They're fabulously comfortable and go with everything. If you type in BTS17 at the checkout you'll get 20% off which brings them down to around £50.

I realise that makes me sound like I work for Clarks but I don't. Grin

FunkinEll · 22/09/2017 18:07

I don't think they are terrible but don't love them. My biggest issue would be that they are not leather. H&M or M&S (as already mentioned) will do leather for around £50.

I also think these'll date quickly but if they're not expensive then I don't suppose that's too much of an issue.

FunkinEll · 22/09/2017 18:12

These are not leather but I think they look nicer and less cheap than the other ones

M&S

Do you want the hiker boot style in particular?

Bluntness100 · 22/09/2017 18:26

Someone recommended this site to me on another thread. They has some great boots within your price range and also you can filter on your criteria.

PNGirl · 22/09/2017 18:43

It's the padded ankle that makes them look like worker boots, not the fact that they are flat lace-ups. They're reminiscent of the original Timberlands which (in my opinion) are a bit early-2000s.

I would really try and get leather. mandmdirect.com often do good deals.

PinkDonuts · 22/09/2017 19:07

I personally don't feel comfortable wearing real leather. It just makes me feel wrong? I don't think I have a specific criteria for the style of boots, just looking to buy a few pairs of nice and pretty black ankle boots with preferably no heel on them (I can't walk in the darn things!)

I get where the Timberland thing is coming from though. Not my intention I just took a liking to these for some reason.

Adorabelle Thank you for the discount code!

ClaudiaNaughton · 22/09/2017 19:22

Thanks Missadorabelle for discount info. Just ordered a pair.

Madbengalmum · 22/09/2017 19:24

Look like hiking / site boots to me.

ClaudiaNaughton · 22/09/2017 19:25

Sorry Ms Grin

PinkDonuts · 23/09/2017 05:08

Thank you for your opinions. It's good to hear others feedback. I will not be buying or wearing real leather shoes however.

I've been eyeing up a similar pair. You're probably like me and don't like dainty/smart looking boots. I want something casual and a bit tough/biker. Think this style also looks good with the contrast of skirts dresses so you don't look too smart.
I think OP it's just the gold that puts me off but I like the style...

PinkDonuts · 23/09/2017 07:58

Yeah I just want some casual, everyday ankle boots that I can wear every day that maybe have a bit of biker chick about them. I don't want boring, plain old ankle boots! Unfortunately they seem to have been met with mostly negative opinions on this thread ☹. Nevertheless I will still be keeping an eye on them, because I don't personally think I'll look like a 'builder'. The gold puts me off a bit too tbh though.

My 14 year old daughter buys these every year - or has done for the past few years since they've done them- and she loves them, she buys a new colour every time they come out. She says they are comfortable and warm and all her friends love them, so they must be fashionable! She wears hers with skinny jeans from h and m or primark.

Sure they're not the most expensive, best quality boot out there but for something to keep you warm and dry in winter for that price you can't really go wrong. I don't think they look like builders boots. The toe shape is quite pointy and more feminine overall.

Delatron · 23/09/2017 08:21

They don't look anything like builder boots. I like that style and prefer a chunkier/casual boot.
But then I live in fear of ever wearing a 'mum' boot so go too far the other way

PinkDonuts · 23/09/2017 08:26

I'm more of a heel girl, but I do want a pair of black ankle boots with no heel to run errands and such in, and that will go with a lot of my outfits. Heels get tiresome after a while lol

OP posts:
Therealslimshady1 · 23/09/2017 08:30

I like them

I would wear them

Like you, I have long legs, and I really like wearing chunky boots either with skinnies and a floaty/drapey top, or even with a (mini) skirt. I like wearing "feminine" clothes mixed with chunky boots, to stop it being too twee.

Jojobythesea · 23/09/2017 08:33

I'm pretty sure I saw some yesterday almost the same in Sainsburys and it's 25% off at the moment.
