Have you put your summer gear away?

I am still wearing summer clothes despite the damp and wet. Are we getting an Indian summer like we usually do, or is it time to get out the winter gear?

I am still wearing cropped jeans etc with bare ankles, but with an extra layer on top. Unless it suddenly becomes freezing I will not go full on winter until clocks go back in October. Plus, I am in the south and it is that weird time when it is cold in the morning but warmer in the afternoon.

I hate winter clothes (they don't suit me). In Spring/Autumn I am stylish. In Autumn I still look a bit stylish but in winter I have a "uniform" that makes me look dowdy. I have decided to embrace the winter this year. I am going to use the winter to save loads of money....which I will then use to buy a whole new wardrobe in the Spring. I am a stone off of the weight I want to be. I have been losing weight slowly this year and I have lost over a stone and a half already so by the time that spring arrives I should be feeling like a butterfly emerging out of a caterpillar!

Still wearing a few of the tops, but with a cardio on top. Trousers, skirts, dresses and most of the shoes have been put away.

"I am still wearing summer clothes despite the damp and wet"

Cor, you must be tough!

I am still wearing summer short sleeve tops, but with jumpers and cardis. I have been back in socks for weeks.

If my feet and ankles are cold I just can't get warm.

Summer dresses and shorts will be put away properly this weekend.

GiveMeTheTeaAndNobodyGetsHurt · 20/09/2017 07:15

Summer stuff got put away last weekend. It's slightly complicated by my being pregnant and growing out of normal clothes, and obviously there's no point in buying summer maternity clothes. I look like I've embraced winter already, but I can still fit into some of my all-season staples like jersey tops and plain trousers (the latter modified with hairbands and worn under a bump band, of course Grin )

This time last year I was at children's parties outside in my shorts and T shirt. What happened? I was looking forward to enjoying a sunny September Sad

Put them away last weekend: all the summer shorts, dresses and sandals. Kept out a couple of pairs or sandals in case we get some more sunny days and some shorts I can wear with tights. Out came the ankle boots, long boots and jumpers.

poppym12 · 20/09/2017 13:06

No but I've got a couple of sunshine breaks booked for later this month and in November.

I'm currently trying to keep away from jeans. I've spent the last 5 months wearing skirts or dresses but right now I'm at a loss clotheswise. Tights aren't an option, I think I'd rather freeze. I'm really not an autumn and winter person.

PNGirl · 20/09/2017 13:20

Yes, 1st September! I hate summer clothes and I'm delighted with the nice sunny chilly September we're having in the South West.

grannycake · 20/09/2017 13:32

Mine were all washed and put away on the weekend - it'll probably get warmer now

onemouseplace · 20/09/2017 13:34

I swapped mine over and had a good clearout yesterday! My sandals are still easily accessible though if we do get a warmer spell.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 20/09/2017 15:07

I've been in the process of bagging and boxing up clothes and sandals over the last few days to go up into the attic.

I've kept down t-shirts and a few tops to layer with cardigans for the in-between weather. I'm also still wearing turned up jeans with bare ankles and trainers.

I love my winter wardrobe and am looking forward to getting jumpers, boots and coats out Grin

OCSockOrphanage · 20/09/2017 16:05

I'm mid-seasonal transitioning. The really summery dresses and beachy-holiday stuff have gone away but I'm still wearing ankle grazer jeans, just with a sweater or jacket. I am still hoping for an Indian summer later this month so I don't have to change my outfit plans for a wedding.

SukiTheDog · 20/09/2017 17:09

Indian Summer is on its way wink

hollyisalovelyname · 20/09/2017 17:44

It's too early for opaque tights and I wouldn't wear Nude tights a la Kate Middleton so I am spraying the Sally Hansen every morning as the fake tan is gone patchy. What a faff !Smile

Ozzde · 20/09/2017 17:47

Two weeks ago my summer clothes went into the attic, winter clothes came down and I started wearing boots again. It is colder here, especially in the mornings.

Dowser · 20/09/2017 17:48

No because we're having sunshine holidays in Tenerife in October and December
I'm just wearing more layers

oldlaundbooth · 20/09/2017 17:52

It's an Indian summer here across the pond so we're still in shorts and tshirts even though the leaves are falling. Which feels weird.

I can't wait for autumn to begin.

30 degrees here at the weekend! 😵

LoniceraJaponica · 20/09/2017 18:02

It's not too early for opaque tights, and what's with the hatred for natural coloured tights?

I dress according to the temperature not the calendar.

imjessie · 20/09/2017 18:44

Yes , at the end of August . I usually keep t shirts in my drawer so wear with a cardi if necc. I'm still wearing jeans rolled up though but with pumps and not sandals .

Judydreamsofhorses · 20/09/2017 18:58

I did the switchover at the start of this month, but did keep out a handful of t-shirts and one midi-skirt just in case. Ha. It has rained constantly since. I am firmly in opaque tights and Chelsea boots now.

PNGirl · 20/09/2017 19:04

Unsettled conditions forecast for the UK with no temps higher than the teens from now to mid-October, so I think that's it for warm weather. Yay!

LoniceraJaponica · 20/09/2017 19:33

"I hate summer clothes"

That's a bit of a sweeping statement. Why not buy some you actually like?

Passthecake30 · 20/09/2017 19:59

I don't put my clothes away, I don't have enough to need to streamline, and I don't have anywhere to move them to. But I'm in my winter boots and cardigans as it's freezing in the mornings, and freezing in the office.

PNGirl · 20/09/2017 21:20

Summer means one layer - I wear jeans every day so I end up wearing jeans and a t shirt with trainers or loafers for 4 months. Winter means jackets, cardigans, ankle or knee boots, interesting layers. I also hate my arms so prefer being covered. It's not that unusual!

onlyconnect · 20/09/2017 21:28

I can't ever remember having done the swap this early before but I have done it. I'm not going full-on with boots or jumpers but I have worn opaque tights twice already. Really disappointed with September this year, especially after such a crap summer.
