Have you put your summer gear away?

I am still wearing summer clothes despite the damp and wet. Are we getting an Indian summer like we usually do, or is it time to get out the winter gear?

I don't find jeans and trainers comfortable in hot weather. I used to wear shorts whenever it was hot, but now I look better in dresses.

PNGirl · 20/09/2017 22:49

Neither do I, hence not liking dressing for hot weather. I'm a short hourglass so look awful in short sleeved dresses and shorts, which leaves me few options. Especially for a smart casual office.

LoniceraJaponica · 20/09/2017 22:51

I bet you don't look awful. You would feel more comfortable in weather appropriate clothing, and surely that would make you look better and feel better about yourself?

PNGirl · 20/09/2017 23:04

I feel fine about myself. I just don't want to spend money on clothing that doesn't suit my shape and that I don't like, for the sake of the few hot weeks a year we get. I like the way I look in my Dr Martens and leather jacket and resent it when it's too warm to wear them.

LoniceraJaponica · 20/09/2017 23:11

We will have to agree to disagree then.
As they say there is no inappropriate weather, just inappropriate clothing.

LesDennishair · 20/09/2017 23:29

I've packed most summer clothes away. I'm not in full winter clobber such as heavy jumpers, boots and thick winter coats, but thin tights, thin cardigans, jumpers and ballet flats. Didn't need a coat at all today. We're expecting it to be 18 degrees here on Sat, but cloudy.

Hippywannabe · 21/09/2017 07:48

No, because we are off to Fuerteventura in October. However, for work, I have moved from long shorts to 7/8 trousers and added a cardi to my tops.

Delatron · 21/09/2017 07:58

Sunday looks nice in SE, sunny and 21 degrees, hardly short-wearing Indian summer weather but might take my jumper off!
I'm still baring my ankles at the moment in pumps and flats with a light jumper. Shorts etc all packed away though.

LoniceraJaponica · 21/09/2017 08:21

This our weather for the next few days. It is not ankle baring weather for me because I am a wimp. I don't think my summer clothes will make an appearance again until next year.

I don't think we really need to "agree to disagree" when I was simply stating a personal preference and that I couldn't wait to get back into autumn clothing, but ok.

LesDennishair · 21/09/2017 09:47

I see a few are keep[ing the summer clothes out for holidays. We're off on holiday in the next few weeks, but ours is no autumn/winter sun, it's super cold hiking and activity holiday in the UK. Grin

15 degrees and rain today

shouldaknownbetter · 21/09/2017 09:50

I've put the very summery things away but kept out some short sleeve dresses that can be worn with a cardi, or even a thermal top underneath when it gets colder.
The summer coat has gone into retirement though... feels wrong wearing a pale pink cottony mac with leaves on the trees.

Strongbeatsskinny · 21/09/2017 13:25

I’ve kept a couple of summer clothes available to wear just in case we have a hot day. Don’t expect it to happen though. I’m going away on holiday in a few weeks so packed my case already. Still feels to early to be packing summer clothes away.

Brought a new coat last week for the autumn it had its first outing today.

GoGoGazelle · 21/09/2017 16:09

Pretty much all away - summer vests have now been delegated to underwear and I can still get to my sandals if the sun shines.

imjessie · 21/09/2017 16:12

We are having our Indian summer in the south at the weekend !🤗🤗

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/09/2017 16:14

Still warm here, just dug my cardi out. Weekend is meant to be lovely.

picklemepopcorn · 21/09/2017 16:22

Summer dresses and sandals have gone away, winter trousers are out.
I'm not wearing an extra layer yet and I'm still barefoot in my shoes.

It's a horrid time of year for clothes, mainly because I realise how much weight I've put on since spring.

Trying to remember which combos work and what layers well with what makes mornings very tedious.

Bought a nice new top though...

JaceLancs · 21/09/2017 16:56

I'm in turkey at the moment so definitely not - will probably get out my winter clothes at end of month though

QueSera · 21/09/2017 17:23

I put it all away in july - and put the heating on :(
