The dreaded tights season has started

Have just started wearing tights to work and the M&S Autograph Ladder resistant have already laddered after one wear. I'm willing to pay a bit more for better quality but where? Any recommendations very welcome.

What denier are you wearing?

Becles · 14/09/2017 15:24

M&S velvet touch

nickEcave · 14/09/2017 15:54

Falke tights cost £££ but really last and are a fraction of normal price in TKMaxx. I will be stalking the tights aisle of TK Maxx for the next month or 2 until I restock my tights drawer.

burnishedsilver · 14/09/2017 16:04

Weirdly, Primark do fantastic opaque tights. No need to pay more for longevity.

londonfeather · 14/09/2017 16:06

I second Primark and I'm not usually a fan of p. But the rights in the individual packets think they are £2.50 a pair - they are brilliant, last ages and don't bobble!

PolkadottyRose · 14/09/2017 16:13

If thicker tights are your thing then the Primark Ultra Soft tights are fantastic, and only £4 a pair.

expatmigrant · 14/09/2017 16:42

Thank you for the replies. I will check out Primark
Develin I wear 10D in nudes and 15D in black

Ah, ok. Too fine for my snaggy fingers. On the occasions I wear 15d I always carry a back up pair.

Oblomov17 · 14/09/2017 20:07

I only wear black 10 denier. The M&S ones aren't that good.

expatmigrant · 14/09/2017 20:14

Oblomov so where do you buy your tights if you only wear 10D?

OCSockOrphanage · 14/09/2017 20:20

Heist are apparently the dog's bollocks. Have not succumbed to the hype so no vote.

luckylavender · 14/09/2017 21:31

Asda are much better than Primark. I'm heavy on tights and cannot recommend them highly enough.

Oblomov17 · 15/09/2017 08:24

No, I wear M&S, it's just I wouldn't recommend them.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2017 08:26

Tights? I'm still in sandals Envy

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 15/09/2017 08:27

I mean Grin

paradoxicalInterruption · 15/09/2017 08:29

Is wearing black 10d for young and/or trendy people? I'm nearly 50 and worry it's one of those things you can't do if you remember it first time round....

ferrier · 15/09/2017 08:30

Heist laddered on the first day of wear for me.

CalmanOnSpeeddial · 15/09/2017 08:34

Placemarking because I'm also unsure about the choice of 10D for the more mature lady.

I tend to get Superdrug just because it's the nearest shop to work and they're normally an emergency purchase. They do the job.

sparklefarts · 15/09/2017 08:36

I also vote for primark.
Ty are my tights saviour Grin

WhiskeySourpuss · 15/09/2017 08:37

Sorry OP I know that I'm hijacking but question for those that wear 10/15D black tights - is that like the barely black colour?

I'm a stockings wearer tights make me feel claggy & would like black but I can't get it out of my head that I'd feel that I was a sexy secretary stereotype rocking up to work in barely black stockings & a pencil skirt Blush

MsHippo · 15/09/2017 08:58

paradoxicalInterruption as an aforementioned young person, I would say no. Street fashion is actually rather practical and comfy at the moment, comfy clunky shoes, leggings or stretchy jeans, big jumpers etc. When my friends and I venture into the world of tights we stick firmly to our 80+ denier and in fact as often as not choose thick wooly ones!

GinIsIn · 15/09/2017 09:02

I'm with @MsHippo - the 10d ones always strike me as being a bit 80s pie frill collar. Opaques all the way!

Nuttynoo · 15/09/2017 09:16

M&S body sensor tights are the best. My 100 dernier ones have lasted 5 years. Primark's 100 dernier tights are also great (lasted 2 years so far).

Merryhobnobs · 15/09/2017 09:20

I'm tall and I really struggle with tights. All M&S ones have been too short in recent years. BHS used to be good so stocked up before they closed down. I wish Primark would be long enough, admittedly I haven't tried them in years so may give them a go. Tights that do not fit right are so very very annoying.

abigailgabble · 15/09/2017 09:26

Falke are worth it
