Which dress for a wedding guest? A or B

Hi all

I've got an autumn wedding to go to soon. It's a church service followed by a reception in a Manor House type place.

Please help me choose:
Option A
Or
Option B

Thanks!

If you prefer bodycon dresses to skater style, I still think that the two you've suggested don't suit the style of wedding you've been invited to. With that in mind, how about these as alternatives:

Dress A

Dress B

Dress C

Dress D

Bluntness100 · 12/09/2017 19:58

I love this and think with a cream blazer over the top, would work for both church and evening reception,

dress a or c in cats last poat are gorgeous.

like the other ops link but wouldnt wear for a wedding.

gingerbreadmam · 12/09/2017 20:01

callit oops.

Twelvety · 12/09/2017 20:04

Cheap dresses don't always look cheap. I have had some absolute bargains that look 3/4x the price.

Bluntness100 · 12/09/2017 20:06

Also this is gorgeous but you'd need a black nipped in jacket for during the day due to the low back

I don't like strappy bare shouldered dresses for church/day time weddings. I did like the navy lacy one in the first set of alternatives and the cream/brown one is stunning.

seven201 · 12/09/2017 20:15

Sorry but I also don't think they're very wedding. They're very look at me and my amazing body - you just don't do that at a wedding, especially not a formal one.

Ttbb · 12/09/2017 20:18

I would suggest that you keep looking, they are not very weddingy

hazeydays14 · 12/09/2017 20:25

I don't think the wedding is as formal as it sounds, think twine, wooden signs and flowers from the invites but I'd like to be church appropriate!
Thanks again Callit! Still prefer the navy one from the first lot..

Bluntness I think most of the dresses you've suggested are more revealing than my originals Grin

Evewasinnocent · 12/09/2017 21:34

dress 2 (or B)!

BackforGood · 12/09/2017 22:58

Hmm - I think Bluntness is going further from the ideal than the original suggestions from OP Grin

Bluntness100 · 12/09/2017 23:00

Possibly,,,quite like them though Grin

Maudlinmaud · 12/09/2017 23:06

Oh I love the red dress Bluntness posted! Love it. Please buy it.

ILoveDolly · 12/09/2017 23:09

I think they'll look nice with a lovely coat for the main service and a hat. Personally A with nice heels and hair

ILoveDolly · 12/09/2017 23:15

I was looking for a swing coat to post up but can't

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 12/09/2017 23:22

Definitely go with one of WhatchaMaCalllit's suggestions.

I don't think a lot of Bluntness100's choices are appropriate.

MoonlightandMusic · 12/09/2017 23:38

Hmm - looks to me as though the skirt slit on your option B is threatening to split further in the ASOS video. It's a nice dress otherwise.

Either the Talulah and Lavish Alice dresses Bluntness posted look good. If not, how about Zara velvet - print or plain

smellybeanpole · 12/09/2017 23:43

What- the blue dress C is gorgeous.

hazeydays14 · 13/09/2017 00:00

The green velvet dress is amazing but can I get away with wearing gloves because the touching velvet makes me shudder Grin

OP posts:
Ojoj1974 · 13/09/2017 00:11

Neither really. I think they are too clubby.
If I had to chosen I'd opt for B

Blackcatonthesofa · 13/09/2017 04:36

Op, being a guest at a formal wedding you don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention to yourself. I'd stay away from cleavage, bare shoulders, bodycon or too short (above the knee is fine) or see through. Please don't try to look sexy. It really is not that kind of party and seems very tacky. In a lot of peoples eyes you would be that friend if you wear these kind of dresses to a wedding. To a different kind of party would be fine of course.

Puffpaw · 13/09/2017 05:34

I like whatcha dress b very much, and I'll admit I do rather like some bluntness suggestions, especially the tallulah dress, although perhaps not for a wedding.
