Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting this woman in the moon tattooed on my forearm in black and white, would be interested to know people's opinions x

why would you want to deface your body with inked in art? Hate tatts in any shape or form. Sorry.

Bigbiscuits · 10/09/2017 10:02

You do realise it will look nothing like that when it is actually tattooed.

VikingVolva · 10/09/2017 10:03

I think that, whatever the design, if you need other people's opinions then you don't like it enough to get it done.

Wait until you find something you just know you'll want forever, regardless of what people think.

Expemsiveuniform · 10/09/2017 10:04

You need to get the tatt person to draw it up in black and white and get it sharpies on firsts. That pic is no good for seeing what it will actually look like

Lucked · 10/09/2017 10:05

What is your job? A naked woman would have to be covered in a lot of industries.

missmouse101 · 10/09/2017 10:06

I'm afraid I really dislike tattoos, especially in such visible areas. They always end up looking dark blue, smudgy and really tacky. Why would you want to do that? It's a beautiful picture, have a giant framed version on your wall instead maybe? Much more of a WOW!

Elledouble · 10/09/2017 10:06

If you do, make sure you find someone who can do it justice. It could look awful done by the wrong person.

Paintbox · 10/09/2017 10:06

I'm not wild about the picture and it would look different when tattooed. I agree with pp who said wait until you find something you'll love forever and you know you will.
I don't have strong opinions on tattoos either way and I have a meaningful one on a part of my body that no one can see. I do struggle with the concept of tattoos on forearms though, it's such a visible place. I know it's fashionable now but will all these women with tats on their forearms really love them in 30 years time?

specialsubject · 10/09/2017 10:07

Anyone you know? That looks quite risky for just looking like gravel rash or dirt from a distance.

Badcat666 · 10/09/2017 10:09

That's a lot of detail for a tattoo... I'd check it out in black and whites as well, it could look completely different.

To get it as good as the pic you will have to spend a lot of wonga and hunt down a really good tattooist, nowt whose than a cheap tat!

Love a good tattoo me.

metalmum15 · 10/09/2017 10:09

It seems an odd tattoo for the forearm, maybe better suited to your back where it can be covered if necessary? Also, to really do it justice, it would have to be a pretty good size and done very well. Research your artist carefully to make sure they do it justice. Unless you're 100% sure then don't do it.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 10/09/2017 10:10

Not being awkward but why do you need to know what other people will think of it? I'm fairly sure most people think my tattoo is dreadful, but I didn't get it for them, I got it for me! If you're not 100% sold on the idea then hold off and come back to it when you are.

My personal view though - don't have one somewhere you can't cover up easily when the situation demands

jesterkat · 10/09/2017 10:10

A foreman would be too small and too curved to have that on. You'd lose too much detail and it would look distorted. Needs to be somewhere bigger and flatter. Eg thigh or back. I'd be tempted for colour too which is unusual for me, mine are all black and white. Agree totally with others bout speaking to an artist and getting it drawn up first.

Unicorn81 · 10/09/2017 10:15

I agree forearm too small, better speaking to tattoo artist

SteampunkPrincess · 10/09/2017 10:16

Not keen on the image personally

Does it mean anything to you?

Print it, place it by your bed for a year and see if you still like it at the end....

TallulahBetty · 10/09/2017 10:18

I don't like tattoos. But if you have to ask ANYONE else's opinions then you clearly don't like it enough yourself.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 10/09/2017 10:20

I think it's an awful picture and would look even worse tattooed on someone's body.

TheDowagerCuntess · 10/09/2017 10:22

Meh.

And that's being kind.

Why do you care what other people think?

You're never going to find anything - let alone a tattoo - that everyone likes.

Do you like it?

ElspethFlashman · 10/09/2017 10:29

That's not gonna translate to a tattoo that well tbh. And will fade very quickly.

You would need it to be in dotwork at the very least, and that would look substantially different.

(Also, nips on forearms aren't a great idea tbh)

hippyhippyshake · 10/09/2017 10:32

What does it actually depict? Is it you? I don't like it at all as a work of art. Different if it's personal to you of course. And no way will this transfer as a tattoo and look anything like this. Sorry

houseoboys · 10/09/2017 10:34

I love it! Re placement, you'd have to go quite small depending on the size of your arm? My full sleeve is in colour and i love it (I think colour tattoos wear better as they don't go blue)... have you considered colour and black? There is an artist near me who does beautiful designs like this and balances them with black brush strokes or layering with geometric work to make them work on the forearm. (More examples on their fb page)

houseoboys · 10/09/2017 10:35

And yes if you use a good artist it will look exactly like the pic if you choose colour. Shading & techniques are amazing these days...

greendale17 · 10/09/2017 10:37

Naked woman? Why?

I hate tattoos of faces or people

Didiusfalco · 10/09/2017 10:41

I don't mind tattoos, but I don't think that will work well. It's too artsy and not graphic enough if you get what I mean. I think there's too much shading on it for it to translate well on skin. If you like the woman with the moon I would get someone to do a version for you - although I agree with the poster who said the nudity might make the placement of it more of a consideration.

Branleuse · 10/09/2017 10:41

I think its gorgeous, but wont be an easy tattoo. Youll need to find someone up to the job, which wont be in every town
