Hi guys, I'm thinking of getting this woman in the moon tattooed on my forearm in black and white, would be interested to know people's opinions x

What does it mean to you?

I don't see the point in tattoos unless they are meaningful to you in some way. They'll look shit when you're older so surely it has to be something that you'll be happy with the meaning of?

starkid · 10/09/2017 10:47

I'd ask a tattoo artist's opinion, they'll soon tell you if it will work or not with regards to shading, shape, detail etc.

SuburbanRhonda · 10/09/2017 10:52

Why do people who hate ALL tattoos post on these threads?

The OP isn't asking whether people like tattoos in general. She's asking what they think of this design for a tattoo.

Jellybean85 · 10/09/2017 11:18

I love tattoos and I love this picture but I have to agree very risky - a lot of the beauty of that picture to me is the delicate colours and details, which would be lost in tattoo form, definitely get it mocked up and sharpied on first!!

RunLineyRun · 10/09/2017 11:22

I don't think it'll work.

Merida83 · 10/09/2017 11:25

I'm sorry to say I do not think it would as a tattoo at all, and especially not in black and white.

Nelliethelephant · 10/09/2017 11:26

I have been watching Naked Attraction and am amazed by the number of people, especially beautiful girls who have tattoos. I think they look awful. This picture you are considering looks quite difficult to do. I would not do it, but I am an old stick in the mud.

SuburbanRhonda · 10/09/2017 11:31

I think they look awful.

So why post on a thread asking for opinions about a design for a tattoo? The OP probably doesn't give a toss what you think about tattoos per se.

WorknameJimEllis · 10/09/2017 11:35

It's a beautiful image but I'd make a couple of points

  • you need to talk to some tattoo artists about how it will work as a tattoo. Ignore those on here saying it can't work. Speak to someone who can tell you for sure.

Arm placement could be an issue for 2 reasons - you are almost certainly going to have to cover it in a lot of social situations, I get that it's arty rather than pornographic nudity but I think most workplace policies aren't going to let you make that distinction. Also it's probably going to be too small if sized down on an arm. That needs to be a thigh or back piece I reckon. Again a chat with a tattooist will clear that one up.

WorknameJimEllis · 10/09/2017 11:39

That picture looks difficult to do

One of my tattoos was done by an artist with a masters in fine art, on top of a several of years apprenticeship in tattooing. I suspect that is not at all unusual nowadays. They are artists. It's what they do.

Just be sure to take your time and pick a good one.

Bombardier25966 · 10/09/2017 11:46

I like it as a piece of art, I'm not convinced it would translate well into a tattoo.

Please think about the long term implications of having a tattoo, especially in a visible area. I have one that seemed great at the time, now it's an embarrassment. Our bodies change, our tastes change, the tattoo will only ever look worse as you age.

Each to their own, but a sleeve tattoo on someone in their mid twenties or thirties looks very different to the same on someone in their sixties, skin elasticity and muscle tone go, tight arms become saggy. Not pretty!

OldPony · 10/09/2017 11:59

I'd be puzzled why you'd want a random woman's bobs and fanny permanently inked on your arm.

MetallicBeige · 10/09/2017 12:26

I don't get the argument about getting older/wrinkly.

If we're lucky we'll all become older and wrinkly/saggy/crepey. Our bodies won't be as pretty as they are now, if tattoos make people happy now. What's the harm?

Who knows what the future holds? It's the person with the tattoo that is living with it. Other people's opinions shouldn't matter.

I speak as somebody with no tattoos, though I do lose hours looking at them online, some are beautiful, proper art.

metalmum15 · 10/09/2017 12:36

That's true metallic. You don't see too many women in their 60's or 70's with tattoos, not as many as men anyway, as when they were in their teens and 20's tattoos on women weren't so popular. Nowadays I think it's something like 1 in 3 women has tattoos. Therefore in another 40/50 years when the younger generation are pensioners, there will be tons of tattooed old ladies so they'll all be in good company and won't look different or strange.

Aeviternity · 10/09/2017 12:59

In its current state it doesn't have enough definition; it would blur into a smudge very quickly.

Study artists. Find a proper one. A grubby shop above a chippy who'll do it for £25 isn't it.

Consider how it will fade with time. The edges less crisp, the colours will dull.

I don't personally think the design works.

usernameinfinito · 10/09/2017 13:05

Honest opinion: horrible. But it's your body, so do what you like. Agree with others, if you have to ask, maybe it's not for you.

VeganCow · 10/09/2017 13:12

Awful. What’s the point of it?

itsbetterthanabox · 10/09/2017 13:53

I think it could be done as a nice tattoo. Get a tattooist to draw something up for you and see what you think.
Naked woman might not be great for work though- think long term.

Blossomdeary · 10/09/2017 13:55

It would look better on your bum.

DavetheCat2001 · 10/09/2017 16:20

I don't like the design at all OP.

I have 3 tattoos myself, none of which I give a stuff if anyone else likes, so honestly if you want it, get it done. Just make sure you get the best artist you can find to do it justice as it's there forever Smile

AdalindSchade · 10/09/2017 16:23

That would need to be a large tattoo on your back to look good I think. It will look crap on the forearm.

viques · 10/09/2017 16:29

Omg just looked at the tattoos on houseoboys link. Why the heck would someone want to have a tattoo that looks as though they are covered in blood from climbing through a barbed wire fence?

withlotsoflove · 10/09/2017 17:13

Where is op
You'd think with such a life altering decision, she'd have returned sooner?
HmmGrin

houseoboys · 10/09/2017 21:47

viques you have a point on that one Shock
Their fb / insta page has better examples!
