To Ugg or not to Ugg?

I'm having an internal debate as to whether to get a pair or not ?
Never owned a pair but always liked the look of them, but are they worth the price?
Then I don't know whether to get the knitted ones or go for the classic style...
So, are they worth it? Or are there any better brands you would recommend?

Most people on here dislike them, but I think worn with skinny jeans on a dry cold day there is nothing cosier for your feet. No they're not fashionable or smart but sometimes that's not important.
I originally had Just sheepskin boots which wore relatively well and then some from Celtic sheepskin but they are a lot clumsier than genuine Uggs. I have the classic ( dislike the cardi ones) in chestnut, which I wear occasionally, have kept them clean and protected with a spray and they're great - serve a purpose so to speak.

I bought a classic pair last year and was gutted when the rear seam split within 4 months! After 4 months I no longer had the receipt so couldn't do anything about it. I do like them but really not convinced at all that they are worth the money for the quality you get.

Orangebird69 · 09/09/2017 13:13

They're slippers. So only if you wear them indoors. And they're fugly. So it's a no from me.

JuicyCake · 09/09/2017 13:13

I had some from Bearpaw, not UGG. Great quality, had them 10 years. Indoors only, though!

rizlett · 09/09/2017 13:15

I loved mine so much I bought a second pair - love the feel of bare feet in them [you're not meant to wear socks] I don't care if they are not stylish as my feet get so cold in winter. I wouldn't survive without using a pair as slippers.

Nothing better for shoving on for a winter early morning dog walk or school run.

Just the cosiest, comfiest things you can put on your feet. As a pp said, sometimes comfort is more important than fashion.

There's no excuse for the knitted ones though

PickleSarnie · 09/09/2017 13:18

I love uggs. But not the traditional sheepskin ones. They just look like slippers.

I like their biker boots. Sheepskin on the inside but normal boot on the outside. I got these ones....

To Ugg or not to Ugg?
dertyyuoih2 · 09/09/2017 13:20

@pickle love those , what model are they?

blodynmawr · 09/09/2017 13:23

I had a succession of cheap versions over the years but caved and got the real deal last winter. OMG what a revelation. My feet lover me in winter now! I will never go back to cheapo versions as they did a whole winter and do not smell or look that bad - used the protector etc.
I have the Kristins which are a bit more of a streamlined look and fit than the Classic. HTH Smile

PickleSarnie · 09/09/2017 13:23

Whoops. Sorry derty. Didn't realise the name wasn't on the screenshot. They're called Wilcox. I think they're last year's so you might need to hunt around to get your size but they're currently reduced on most sites.

ParkheadParadise · 09/09/2017 13:31

I love my uggs. I've got them in black, Brown, and chestnut. Don't like the knitted one's.

PoisonousSmurf · 09/09/2017 13:32

Uggs are so chavy!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 09/09/2017 13:35

I've worn the Wilcox to death last year. They will be retired this year. Bought for the princely sum of £45 if I remember correctly!

Whatthefoxgoingon · 09/09/2017 13:35

Normal uggs I definitely do not like!

TheFairyCaravan · 09/09/2017 13:36

I've got Classic, Cardi and Biker style ones. My feet are never cold. I've had my oldest pair for about 8 years and they still look good.

bringbacksideburns · 09/09/2017 13:40

They are so not chavvy!! They cost a bloody fortune. How do people afford prices like £200? I couldn't justify it.

But I do think they are incredibly comfortable and cosy!

I'm getting confused with these other names - maybe I should try this Bearpaw

Bratsandtwats · 09/09/2017 13:41

I have two pairs of Uggs, but they're not tradition Uggs, they're leather biker style and look like normal boots. They don't have a massive logo on them either so you wouldn't know at first glance.

Bratsandtwats · 09/09/2017 13:42

Bratsandtwats · 09/09/2017 13:42

Oh FFS!

Bexta147 · 09/09/2017 13:51

I have two pairs. Bailey button in chestnut and then a Grey 'starry night' pair. I live in mine constantly during autumn/winter. Have been debating for the last week wether to get them out the cupboard or not yet. I'm planning on buying a black pair this year.

AnnabelleLecter · 09/09/2017 13:52

I have Ugg slippers.
Not keen on the cardi style ones but some of the others are ok. I don't get the snobbery about them.
I buy sheepskin insoles for all my winter boots about £3 a pair and wear wool socks so my feet are always warm anyway.

NashvilleQueen · 09/09/2017 13:55

I actually love Celtic & Co. I have the aqua lamb ones so they're waterproof and literally I've never worn anything as warm and cosy. I'm a convert.

SophieGiroux · 09/09/2017 13:56

So true
