Am after the holy grail I think!

Rugby season has started and it is already fecking freezing stood on the touch line watching DS for 2 hours! So am in major need of a thick warm toasty coat that is waterproof and has a good that stays up but that you can still chat to other idiots parents! Said coat must not make me look like I am wearing a duvet. I have a Northface arctic parka but don't find it warm enough.

Also boots-waterproof and warm. Must emphasise the warm bit!

TIA!

I need exactly the same thing for my entire Sundays spent watching 2 lots of football in the freezing cold and wet.

I had a pretty good coat from Asda a few years ago but I'd really love a proper waterproof, cozy warm, big hooded parka for this winter.

Rinkydinkypink · 07/09/2017 02:50

Me to for school runs and sports. I've seen m&s do a duvet type one. I've also been looking at trespass regatta makes.

MsJolly · 07/09/2017 07:48

You'd think that as there is evidently a market someone would do one? Maybe a trip back to Canada is in order!

Me too! Need coat and boots...can't find ANY that I like!

taybert · 07/09/2017 08:19

How much do you want to spend and how warm do you need to be? Also, how much do you care about looking stylish?
Sorel are great for warm boots but they're probably a bit wintery for now. They'd be great later on though.
Otherwise I'd probably be looking at outdoor/horsey brands like Dubarry, Ariat etc as they tend to do nicer looking boots but still warm and waterproof.

I have a very nice craghoppers one.

nigelsbigface · 07/09/2017 15:22

That is nice.has it a hood?

Laiste · 07/09/2017 15:35

I was going to say aim at the more decent quality stuff as they do warmth without the bulk.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 07/09/2017 15:38

I have a long down coat that I bought from Landsend a few years ago. It is waterproof, windproof and has a hood and it is the cosiest thing ever for standing on touchlines. It has done me several winters of watching DS play football. It's brilliant. I love it. A lot.
It does, however, look like a large black duvet. But it's exactly like wearing a large black duvet when, when you are standing around outside for hours on end, often in the pissing rain, is no bad thing at all.
This is it. Although I paid about £40 for mine in a brilliant sale!

HateSummer · 07/09/2017 15:38

That crag hoppers emley coat was on sale in House of Fraser for £60 2 weeks ago. Kicking myself I didn't get it.

Laiste · 07/09/2017 15:49

I used to have to spend my saturday mornings standing watching DDs go through their riding lessons a few years ago. In the mud. Out doors whatever the weather. Something from here would be your friend OP :)

Yes, good hood on the craghoppers. We only started pitch side activities last year and I'm not completely dreading this year!

You need these Timberlake boots in your life. I've had them for 5 years and have worn them daily in the winter walking the dog, outside at work for hours on end and my feet are always warm and dry. They still look really good too even though mine are in white. Mine were a little cheaper as Timberlake junior shoes go up to 5.5 so fit me well.

Bubblysqueak · 07/09/2017 16:21

Ahhh link fail I'll try again because these really are brilliant.

Mushybanna23 · 07/09/2017 16:26

Canada goose are brilliant pricey but made for wearing in the arctic x

passthecremeeggs · 07/09/2017 16:35

If money isn't too much of an issue I'd go with Dubarry boots. I live in mine in the winter and they are truly toasty

ShmooBooMoo · 07/09/2017 17:37

Isn't there awful cruelty involved in Canada goose coats?

MsJolly · 07/09/2017 21:46

Thanks all, will be looking at these.

I suppose if it's a question of looks or warmth I am going to have to go for warmth as I hate being cold. Liking the idea of heated insoles/hand warmers etc

MsJolly · 07/09/2017 21:48

I wasn't after a Canadian goose coat just one made in Canada as when we lived there I had the warmest coat in the whole world and it happily dealt with winters of -40

Sadly that was a while a go and that coat has diedSad

I got one from Joules last year and it was so warm I spent most of the winter in just 1 layer under the coat and not needing jumpers. So I'm guessing with a wool or cashmere jumper it would be perfect for standing around for hours...
This looks like this years version of it

How about one of these to keep the wind and rain out Grin
