Am after the holy grail I think!

Rugby season has started and it is already fecking freezing stood on the touch line watching DS for 2 hours! So am in major need of a thick warm toasty coat that is waterproof and has a good that stays up but that you can still chat to other idiots parents! Said coat must not make me look like I am wearing a duvet. I have a Northface arctic parka but don't find it warm enough.

Also boots-waterproof and warm. Must emphasise the warm bit!

TIA!

I work in a primary school and spend at least two hours a day outside in all weathers, I finally gave up last year and bought one of these www.gooutdoors.co.uk/marmot-montreal-insulated-down-coat-womens-p282517
It's amazing! Also I didn't pay nearly that much for it, I shopped around online and got it for £120ish I think.worth every penny.

MsJolly · 07/09/2017 22:36

Can you have a little heater in there?😂😂😂

Columbia heat tech boots are very warm, waterproof and lightweight but with good grip.

SnowiestMountain · 07/09/2017 22:50

There's 25% off everything at Joules this week if that helps!

I wear Orca Bays for sailing. They are bomb proof! For coats your budget is important as if it's not important Canada Goose will do the job.

puffylovett · 08/09/2017 00:44

On the recommendations I've seen on here numerous times, I bought a lands end coat and some Merrell decora boots. They've lasted me years, and they are so warm and toasty. I lived in both when we went skiing and I had to watch from the sidelines after injuring my knee! Can highly recommend both, although my coat isn't particularly waterproof, it's toasty warm though.

Was it a Kanuk, OP?

That's a Canadian brand, they're pretty indestructible.

What's your budget? 66 North coats are amazing.

SpamHeadedBastard · 08/09/2017 06:37

I bought the Emley coat last year in a sale and it's great. Really warm but not bulky, waterproof with a good hood. I'm 5ft 5" and it comes just below my knees. DD has joined a football team so it'll certainly be tested over the coming months!

nigelsbigface · 09/09/2017 00:20

Op I also lived in Canada for a year. Chilly! And I had a coat, from some Canadian shop that I cant recall the name of, that was phenomenal, but wore out after a good 5 years use.
Freaky has it for me-that the coat I think I want for football watching!

MsJolly · 09/09/2017 01:52

I think it was a kanuk-I loved that coat and it was so warm!

I really feel the cold and am already in a sweater/plus cardi or hoodie and Superdry parka and am cold so the warmer the better for me!

But what is your budget OP?

Sodaface · 09/09/2017 07:31

Love that sea salt coat it's lovely. I was after a nice work coat but might make di with what I have & but that one for outdoors.

Dlpdep · 09/09/2017 07:38

I bought a Dubarry down coat last year, I thought I was getting an amazing deal on it but it seems to still be at the same sales price so I'm not sure it isn't a marketing ploy. It's toasty - www.dubarry.ie/salthill

It's comes up quite big, I thought. No hood but my plan is woolly hats.

3DGlasses · 09/09/2017 08:21

Didrikson coats are toasty.

Last year there wasn't a cold enough spell of weather for me to even get my one out!

Note3 · 09/09/2017 09:11

Mustow make stylish but warm coats. Expensive unless you can get yourself to an outlet shop

MsJolly · 11/09/2017 09:10

Tbh I haven't set a budget and am happy to spend more to be warm! Was freezing on Sunday and it gave me terrible back ache😢

OP posts:
Sugarpiehoneyeye · 11/09/2017 09:18

What you need is a Didricksons Parka, toasty warm, stylish and above all dry. Oh, and it has good pockets and a great hood !😄
I walk my dogs in all weather, and come back, as I set off, apart from a cold nose !
Can't help with the boots, sorry.

HateSummer · 11/09/2017 10:05

Does the sea salt coat come up big? I'm looking at their sizing, and thinking of getting a smaller size.

Sodaface · 11/09/2017 21:04

Just to add, I went on a search for a warm fashionable coat & bought the Regetta ronstar for £60.

It's bloody awful looking!! Plasticity, bulky, just all round old fashioned. I'll be returning it asap.

Is it even possible to have function & fashion??

user1483390742 · 12/09/2017 07:09

Tog 24 costs are like duvets! I spend most of my weekends on a pitch side or track side and mine is super cosy! Still searching for boots though- my toes are always cold!

MsJolly · 12/09/2017 08:48

Where can you get a tog24 coat? Sounds lush! Am happy to have warmth over looks however don't really want something fugly!

Is it worth going to a Go Outdoors type place do you think?

bingohandjob · 12/09/2017 09:01

If you want warmth, North Face Metropolis (and I think they do a full length one, too. I'm 5ft 4 and Metropolis comes to my knees and is the warmest coat I own). But if you want warmth and waterproof for wet, British cold, Didriksons. I wear a Uniqlo down lightweight jacket/gilet under mine when REALLY freezing but if it's dry cold, always the Metropolis. Like being hugged warm Grin
