Sainsbury's 'leather jacket?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/08/2017 22:37

I bought this impulsively yesterday, and now I'm worried I'll look stupid in it! Obviously it's cheap and cheerful but when I tried it in I thought it looked good for the price, now I'm worried I'll be walking around in a jacket that looks crappy.
It nit my usual style at all and I rarely impulse buy clothes, so it could just be that giving me second thoughts. Anyone even this or bought it's? FWIW I'm 42, size 16. Usual style is dresses with boots for winter, maxi skirts for summer.

Obviously that was supposed to be 'leather' as it's clearly not!

I like it Grin

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/08/2017 22:39

If you combine it with care, will be fine!

QueenMortificado · 27/08/2017 22:40

Personally I am not keen on it, just because I think that coloured pleather often looks cheaper in real life. Plus I sweat like crazy in them!

I think that saving up and spending a bit more and buying a classic leather jacket would be a better move and would last you forever

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 27/08/2017 22:42

You could practise with it though, to see if you would like an upgrade at some point. I am 50's, so would probably not wear with jeans, but more likely reasonable trousers, likely black.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/08/2017 22:53

What would you wear it with? Like I said I'm more of a dress person so not jeans like on the ad.
I get what you're saying queen and I would normally not go for something this cheap but it honestly doesn't look too bad, I've no interest in fashion beyond 'do I look ok' so I'm no more likely to save up for an investment piece than I Adam fly to the moon. I just want to look reasonable. DP works in high end fashion and likes it, although having said that he lives in primark I feel it isn't work related Grin

when it isn't work related

Dress with opaques, boots and a black leather jacket (fake or real) is a classic look. Black would be more versatile but it's quite a muted green so could still work.

I agree with Sponge. Use it as a practice one before you invest £££ in a real one. Then you'll know if it's something you'll wear enough to justify the cost. You'll probably find you wear it all the time.

Although just realised you don't think you'd spend loads on one. It's a decent looking jacket imo. Not shiny looking or too much hardware. Keep it.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/08/2017 23:01

Thanks eyebrows, the consensus there seems to be ok, nice enough but not current and a little dull. I'm ok with that, probably sums up my style Grin

OP posts:
EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/08/2017 23:04

Thanks enid it is muted which is why I likes it. I do want to get out of wearing endless black but I don't like bright colours, this seemed like a compromise. I'll try it out with a couple of black dresses and boots see how I feel.

I like it, think it'll go with lots of clothes.

QueenMortificado · 27/08/2017 23:11

Sounds like you really like it and just want a bit of reassurance that it isn't hideous :) In which case, it isn't and go for it. And enjoy your new purchase!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/08/2017 23:16

I suppose I like the look of it but not sure it's me!

bluebell34567 · 27/08/2017 23:33

I think it is nice.

CheckingMyPrivilege · 27/08/2017 23:44

I think it's fine.

EnidButton · 28/08/2017 01:40

First biker jacket I bought, I didn't wear it for months because I didn't think it 'was me'. Practically live in them now. Grin

Keep it and go out in it straight away. Bet you love it after the first wear.

Tantpoke · 28/08/2017 01:57

I have an impulse buy black leather jacket that I love and wear all the time on nights out.

It cost me £5 in my local charity shop and isn't actually real leather not that anyone has ever noticed. We only popped in because my daughter saw her friend and mum giving away some kids furniture. We saw the jacket, I tried it on and I was persuaded to buy it, so glad I did now.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2017 02:04

I don't usually like 'leather' jackets other than brown or black, but that one is rather nice.

(My own 'leather' jacket is a £30 fake suede from asda which gets complimented.)

oldlaundbooth · 28/08/2017 02:15

I like it.

I reckon it'd match lots of stuff too, jeans, black cords, boots, etc.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/08/2017 09:10

Ok, I'm keeping it. I'm off on holiday today so if it's not sunny I'll try it out while I'm away 😊

CountFosco · 28/08/2017 09:11

I was eyeing that jacket up in store the other day. I can confirm it looks good in real life. If you like it keep it, it will look great with dresses.

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 28/08/2017 09:31

I like it.

Want2beme · 28/08/2017 09:51

I like it, lovely colour. I think grey, burgundy & pink will go well with it.

Holz657 · 28/08/2017 10:30

Aw I love it!! Easy to dress up or dress down and love the colour. Good buy!
