Do any of you wear a slip?

Just bought a gorgeous vintage slip for a steal on Etsy and imagining myself swanning around like Liz Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (ha!).

Then had an actual think about what I might do with it - think it will be useful under some of my scratchier wool dresses, will help one particular cashmere one not stick and could wear it around the flat. NOT planning to wear it as outerwear, even if that is fashionable.

Am seeking inspiration and also curious: do any of you wear slips?

Yes. A lot.
I use them as nighties too. The M&S ones.

I often wear slips under unlined skirts or dresses to make them hang better and not cling to tights. I thought everyone did! So annoying to have to keep tugging your skirt/dress down when it rides up.

Are the m&s ones good?

hollyisalovelyname · 23/09/2017 21:20

Yes

Yes I do. I start wearing in the autumn when the weather gets cooler.

They don't add bulk at all do they? Which fabrics are best for not creasing, being cool etc?

CointreauVersial · 23/09/2017 23:24

Good God, do they still exist?!

maudeismyfavouritepony · 23/09/2017 23:27

I wear them with denim skirts to stop them sticking to my tights, also half cotton ones in summer under a unlined cotton dress, and with a wool dress which I wear over leggings/skinny jeans.

I have never worn a slip! But reading this, I think I need to invest. I wear wrap dresses, with a jacket and tights to work pretty much all year round....they always ride up! How have I missed this memo? Help though, what do I get? I'm short and chunky with a tummy.

I just had a look at that cat on a hot tin roof image. How does that slip even work?

Auburn2001 · 23/09/2017 23:42

I always do, they make my dresses and skirts hang better, and prevent a see through effect with thin material.
My M&S Cool Cotton slip kept me nice and cool under my dress when I was a guest at a wedding on a very hot day. I also have some half slips from Primark which I wear under jumper dresses in the winter. These work as an extra layer of clothing when it's cold!
