Metallic Pleated Skirt - Yay or Nay?

Size 8 and under, yes

NotInMyBackYard1 · 22/08/2017 08:50

If you have a totally flat stomach and a very small waist. I'm a straight up and down size 12 and this style of skirt looks SHIT on me!

KatyBerry · 22/08/2017 08:51

If you have no hips/ arse, yes definitely. I love them but do not fall into that category

Zxyzoey31 · 22/08/2017 08:52

Flat stomach and small waist is not enough! These types of skirt look awful on pear shapes too.

AnnabelleLecter · 22/08/2017 09:12

I am size 8 with small hips/bum and thigh etc and it's a Nay from me. I don't like the length. Colour is lovely.

PrawnTempura · 22/08/2017 10:05

If you love it, then yes. We can't all be size zero, no figure, no hips etc. I'm a 12 / 14, with curves and I think I look decent in mine.

My metallic skirt comes a bit longer than the one in your photo ('cause I'm a short arse also) so I wear mine with heels rather than flat trainers.

lasttimeround · 22/08/2017 13:08

If you're curvy maybe with an oversize jumper [stays hopeful]

Openup41 · 22/08/2017 13:30

Yes.

I am a size 10 with a tiny waist and flat stomach. I wear with fitted tops to emphasis my waist.

WiganPierre · 22/08/2017 13:38

Yes, but not with converse. Far too pretentious and will make your ankles look large (if high top) wearing with a skirt.

rightknockered · 22/08/2017 13:41

LOL at Converse being pretentious

rightknockered · 22/08/2017 13:42

I think pleated skirts look good no matter what size you are. It's all about proportion and making sure the skirt finishes at the right length for you

Dustbunny1900 · 22/08/2017 13:43

I think the length is very unflattering..unless you're built like a willowy greyhound.
But yes to metallic and pleats!

TuiMitcham · 22/08/2017 15:39

I have one and I'm pear shaped and it's fine. Go for it if you like it and you think it looks good!

Floisme · 22/08/2017 15:48

They look great on me till I check the rear view. I'm sure there's one out there somewhere that's right for me though.
I would probably wear with plimsolls - is that more or less pretentious than converse? I do have tiny ankles Wink

CheckingMyPrivilege · 22/08/2017 21:38

I have nice ankles I think. No hips and bum but not exactly willowy - 5'8" and size 14. Top body heavier, no boobs. Long legs. What's a nice length?

CheckingMyPrivilege · 22/08/2017 21:38

Why would converse be pretentious?

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/08/2017 21:45

Not metallic, but I have quite a few pleated midi skirts - I'm 5ft 6 and a 10, with a small waist/flat stomach but quite a big arse. I think the trick is to wear something tucked in, and a jacket which is fairly short and neat, so in my case a denim jacket or leather biker. I wear mine with trainers and bare legs, but just can't get on with them once it's tights weather, they seem to need the naked gap to work for me. The best shape for me is one that is kind of a-line rather than the pleats falling straight from the waist, and a chiffony type fabric is better than a heavy one. (I wear a slip underneath.)

Whataboutmeee · 22/08/2017 21:47

Have you tried it on? I ordered one similar online and it was very unflattering around the stomach although I am a size 8.

The leopard one HW has in this photo diary is my favourite one, it falls a bit longer on me, but it's the perfect slightly triangle shape.

CheeseAtFourpence · 22/08/2017 21:58

Yes definitely - in fact I love it! Where's it from?

CheckingMyPrivilege · 22/08/2017 22:09

It's from a group buying site here, but the brand is Lands End. Not familiar with the brand.

I want to like them, but I just see a foil pie dish.

hamsterloverlover · 22/08/2017 22:49

i have a size 14 one i want to get rid of if want it Grin

OhWellNeverMindEh · 22/08/2017 22:55

I'm very thin (size 6) average height, but I am a bit curvy.

I look like a pepperpot in mine (I have 2 and still wear them regardless, maybe I shouldn't?Grin)

If you have any hips at all, heels are a must. To balance you out.

Really like the skirt btw.

LittleWitch · 22/08/2017 22:56

I've just come back from holiday in a place that seemed to be very popular with Japanese people. Most of the women were wearing pleated metallic skirts, gold or silver predominantly and longer than the one in your pic - more mid to low calf. They were all in flats and had a variety of mainly baggy jumpers with the skirts. It was definitely a "look" and they were all ages.
