I've just found a skirt that is 18 years old! The skirt will probably never fit me again but it's a classic woollen mini and I can't bear to through it out.

I've got some going out shoes that are bound to be the same age too.

Actually, I have a pyjama set which I bought when I was 19 for going on holiday - it's shorts and a top, so not worn that often. I'm 44 now. I wore the shorts in the garden just the other week when it was a really hot day. (Totally enclosed garden, don't worry.)

InigoTaran · 14/08/2017 23:18

A pair of cowboy boots I bought in America in 1989. Hardly worn as they hurt my feet, but I can't bear to get rid of them!

BetterEatCheese · 14/08/2017 23:18

A 20 year old Dorothy Perkins blue roll neck chunky jumper. It's lovely!

KnitFastDieWarm · 14/08/2017 23:24

I have a pair of really lovely comfy leggings with little gold zips at the ankles from H&M that I bought in my second year of uni, in 2006. They are vastly superior to any leggings I've had since and I'm sad to say I think they are probably on their last legs. 11 years is like 80 in legging years Grin

CKBluebell · 14/08/2017 23:25

A Bon Jovi t-shirt from their 1989 New Jersey tour. I wear it in bed.
At the age of 43, I've finally realised that the t-shirt is as close as I'm going to get to having Jon Bon Jovi in my bed.

Floisme · 14/08/2017 23:25

The oldest thing I've had since new is a Laura Ashley dress with the 'Made in Wales' label that I bought for my sixth form leaving do in 1973. (Don't read any further if you don't want to hear about vanity sizing but it's a size 10, I'm now size 8-10 and I can't zip it up.)

I think the oldest thing I still wear is a red jumper I bought in John Lewis in the 80s. It's a fairly ordinary jumper but I remember saving up to buy it, so it reminds me of how much more expensive, in real terms, but also how much better made clothes were then.

I've got quite a few vintage things, including a couple of 1920's beaded dresses but the oldest thing is a Victorian black governess's dress - that's who I imagine wore it although obviously I've no way of knowing.

Bought a LTB from Next to Nothing in Glasgow in 1993 and I still wear it sometimes and people say what a nice dress! Just glad it still fits.

lazycrazyhazy · 15/08/2017 00:27

I have my MIL's wedding dress from 1948 and my own from 1978.

iamEarthymama · 15/08/2017 00:35

I lost all my baby weight gained while carrying my son, born in 1980, when he was aged 2, with the aid of some 'slimming pills" that my colleague got me for a fiver from a "Doctor on Cowley Hill"!
How naive was I? 😊😊😊🤣

I am chatty and exuberant enough when socialising but was the life and soul then!

I remember buying an outfit from Top Shop; pink mini skirt, that buttoned down one side, pink sailor trousers with the buttons either side iykwim, pink and white bowling shirt with huge shoulder pads and a pale blue denim effect vest with pink stitching.
Everything else has gone, including my lovely slim figure but the little vest is still going strong!
I love it, happy memories.

Lots of my clothes are 10, 12, 15 years old.
I made a decision to not follow fashion and to wear clothes that suit me, that I love and that are well made. I don't regret it all and love my eBay bargains.

arousingcheer · 15/08/2017 03:11

KnitFastDieWarm my favourite leggings are H&M too, bought maybe a year or two after yours. They have viscose in them and seem to be indestructible.

saffronwblue · 15/08/2017 03:33

Wedding dress 1997. Old faded tshirt bought on honeymoon in 1997 which I still wear to the gym.
A little knitted jacket my aunt made for my cousin when he was a newborn. He was born in 1954.

Pikachuwithyourmouthclosed · 15/08/2017 03:39

My mum gave me a funky pair of cotton beach trousers for my 14th birthday. Then she accidentally bleached them pale greyish yuck colour. So she dyed them dark green. I still wear them on weekends sometimes. I'm 39.

Hebe2017 · 15/08/2017 04:29

Actually, I love new clothes......

goingmadinthecountry · 15/08/2017 09:01

Dd sometimes wears (only because it doesn't fit me any more) a late 1960s embroidered silk jacket I swapped my school gaberdine for in 1980. I wear an antique lace scarf from time to time and I too have a beaded evening cape (covers your shoulders) but I wouldn't wear it because it's very fragile.

I still regularly wear an H and M suede coat I bought in 2004 - it's soft and lovely with wear now. Who says they don't do quality?

DaisyWaisy · 15/08/2017 16:19

A brown faux suede Marks and Spencer (St Michael label!) jacket that belonged to my mother. Must be 1960s. I used to wear it when I was a student

whinesalot · 15/08/2017 16:22

A black suede miniskirt that I could never fit into now but I just can't bring myself to throw out. Must be 25 years old.

gonegrey56 · 15/08/2017 16:31

I have lots of clothes that I still wear from the 1980s, mainly Jean Muir classic navy pieces (and her silk tunics). Caroline Charles evening dress from 1990 still gets worn .

crispandcheesesandwichplease · 15/08/2017 16:35

Cowgirl and witch fancy dress outfits! A vintage pale green, home made (not by me!) 1950's day dress and jacket that I bought as my wedding dress from eBay. Ooh and pair of red gingham wedge sandals with cherries on that I bought about 20 years ago. Have never worn them as they're so uncomfortable but too beautiful and kitsch to get rid of!

brightlightceiling · 15/08/2017 17:07

My mothers size minus 100 wedding dress. Just because it makes me smile every time I come across it. Of my own stuff probably an 8 (ish) year old tunic. It's my favorite travel tunic because it has huuuuge pockets!

Racheyg · 15/08/2017 17:09

A Mickey Mouse jumper from America in early 80's
Levi's tshirt from 70's

Both from my father in law. He gave them to my oh years ago but they don't fit him so I'm the proud owner

OhTheRoses · 15/08/2017 17:18

Grandma's mink coat. I have never worn it. She was 5.0 and I'm 5.7! Must be 1950s.

A Princess Diana ballgown, circa 1983 by Terrence Nolder. I wore it the night I met DH in 1989!

My wedding dress - 1991.

I am ruthless at throwing out but those things will be kept forever.

Melfish · 15/08/2017 17:25

Levis jacket bought in 1997. I still wear it fairly regularly.

SorrelForbes · 15/08/2017 17:27

Vintage clothes aside...

I have a pair of black velvet high waisted hot pants that I bought in Miss Selfridge in Portsmouth in 1990/91. They are labelled as a 12 and when I bought them I weighed about 8 1/2 st. I now weight 9st, wear a size 8/10 in most shops but can only just get these done up Shock

winterinmadeira · 15/08/2017 17:29

A black leather coat from the 1970s bought in a charity shop but from new the oldest item is a moschino jacket with gold bicycles on from about 1990.

I routinely wear clothes and shoes/boots which are 15-20 years old. I used to save up for expensive(y) clothes and then look after them so that they last ...still do.

grafittiartist · 15/08/2017 17:36

Charity shop coat and jacket bought in early 90's. Still love wearing them. Some of my grannies stuff too, so 60's, that regularly gets worn!
