recommendations for cool/fashionable baby clothes

Just that really, my 1st baby is due in December (a girl!) and as she's likely to be my only baby I want to buy some clothes that are not pink/wishy washy/Disney etc, maybe cute fashionable outfits mainly for my pleasure admittedly! I like a mix of styles-traditional and modern/brights, I don't mind a bit of pink but really like red/yellow/green for a girl.
I have no idea where to look other than the usual high street chains which do have some lovely stuff but are there any online shops I need to know about?

Polan O. Pyret. I love it all.

emsyj37 · 12/08/2017 15:33

Frugi, Polarn O Pyret, for brights there are lots of Scandinavian brands so google that, Boden, Jojo Maman Bebe for traditional styles.

PaperdollCartoon · 12/08/2017 15:34

And Frugi

Shantotto · 12/08/2017 15:35

The Scandinavian brands - especially Mini Rodini. If you have loads of money Bobo Chose and The Animals Observatory do amazing clothes.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/08/2017 15:35

Hopefully you will consider comfort and season appropriateness over fashion :)

On-line there is vertbaudet/la redoute which are reasonably priced and a little different from the normal high street. I always liked Next stuff as it was decent quality and nice and bright but my boys are 16 and 17 now so not sure what it's like now.

Zara maybe?

emsyj37 · 12/08/2017 15:36

Aha this is the site I was thinking of funkylittlepeople.co.uk/

Also Molo.

SecretFreebirther · 12/08/2017 15:40

Also Little Bird by Jools Oliver at mothercare. Lovely colourful clothes.

Katescurios · 12/08/2017 15:41

H&m have nice stuff too and often in bright colours.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 12/08/2017 15:49

Next is my go to for my DGD. Bold colours and designs and quite a lot of unisex clothes for babies. Their sizes are generous too. DGD has been wearing their 12-18 month stuff even though she's 2. They have lots of strong colours and fun designs as well as the more traditional stuff. I sometimes get her the boys t shirts and tops because I know she will love the designs.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 12/08/2017 15:50

Oh and Next stuff washes and wears really well

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/08/2017 16:01

thank you-I've not heard of some of these, and yes waxon I'm not an idiot, I just want to have some fun dressing a longed for baby!

I didn't suggest you were an idiot Monkey just that sometimes "some" people have a tendency to get carried away and comfort get sacrificed for looks. Then the baby ends up in a sweaty nylon dress or in dungarees which aren't comfy if they are lying down all day but are lovely when they are older and toddling about. You'd like to think that manufacturers thought about these things but they don't. My nephew and his wife were terrible for doing that sort of thing so I suppose I think about it quite a lot. Didn't mean to offend :)

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/08/2017 16:15

the Animals Observatory is amazing! £££ but amazing! La Redoute has changed massively since I looked at it years ago.

I like a lot of the Scandi stuff, Maxomorra and Duns for bright stuff. I like Dapper Baby and Melancia for Babies online shops. The clothing is more expensive but I buy in the sales and sell on later and mix it with supermarket stuff.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/08/2017 16:20

well I am sensitive about it wax I have all the basics like vests, sleepsuits etc and I like 'kiddy' clothes not mini adults stuff, but as I never thought Id be able to have a baby I want some cuteness too-I can see myself spending £££ looking at these sites! Grin

Congratulations monkey. It is very easy to get carried away, in a way I'm glad internet shopping wasn't as easy back then as we'd probably be bankrupt!

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/08/2017 16:27

I've had a flick through the sites and dressed a million babies that I don't have....Blush

Lowdoorinthewal1 · 12/08/2017 16:30

Have a look on Barnyard Kids, they have nice Skandi stuff on there.

SnowWhite33 · 12/08/2017 16:38

Here are the brands I like. Its a mix between old school classic and modern cool
Some are quite expensive I admit, and of course children grow out so quickly. Im very much aware of it. But i still managed to spend a small fortune on my DS, and now expecting a DD so will not be able to reuse the clothes. But no regrets Grin
Neck & Neck (Spanish brands do the most beautiful old school clothes i think)
Donsje Amsterdam
Mini Rodini
Bang Bang Copenhagen
Bobo Choses
Joules
Tiny Cottons
Emilie et Ida
Pepito by chus
Nobodinoz
And of course Zara baby/kids

Lou573 · 12/08/2017 16:48

Spend far too much in Zara baby, but also mamas and papas have some nice bits and surprisingly good old m&s does some cute baby outfits.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/08/2017 17:03

I have fallen in love with this-apart from the price and it only comes in 6m size which is no good as the baby will be 6 months in Summer!

Have a look at John Lewis too - they stock lots of the brands mentioned here, plus their own stuff can be really good value, nice colours etc.

liquidrevolution · 12/08/2017 17:36

Little bird at mothercare is good plus boden of course.

I tend to mix and match bright plain coloured stuff with bright patterns and prints from places like next and m and s with little bird, boden and frugi. John lewis always have a bright long and short sleeved vest set which are fab quality and a staple for me in winter. I also buy a few custom pieces from places like rainbow baby on facebook and sewing circus on etsy.

For tights it has to be slugs and snails. They are amazing. Jojo maman bebe do thick leggings that are great for cold weather. Dd had the stripes and dino ones.

H and m less good in recent years.

And finally check out let clothes be clothes on Facebook and internet. They have lists of suppliers of non pretty girl/naughty boy type clothes.

AmyOb · 12/08/2017 17:46

I have always got from Zulilly for my DD. She is big now but I was really
satisfied with their clothes.Just went to the website now and saw some cute rompers for baby girls.

I love Tobias & The Bear for cute leggings. Again, dressing babies I don't have! Grin
