recommendations for cool/fashionable baby clothes

Just that really, my 1st baby is due in December (a girl!) and as she's likely to be my only baby I want to buy some clothes that are not pink/wishy washy/Disney etc, maybe cute fashionable outfits mainly for my pleasure admittedly! I like a mix of styles-traditional and modern/brights, I don't mind a bit of pink but really like red/yellow/green for a girl.
I have no idea where to look other than the usual high street chains which do have some lovely stuff but are there any online shops I need to know about?

There are loads of nice baby clothes on Instagram from WAHMs. Take a look at Amne fabric, for example. If you like that style, you can find small shops through their posts.

I'm loving the suggestions! I'll keep watching this thread so I can order nearer the time or at least plan out what I'm going to buy for the right season.

Cos have some lovely stuff too.

Blondielongie · 12/08/2017 20:30

Zara and also tu at sainsburys. Have actually got some good things there. I think it depends on how you layer stuff, but people always tell me ds looks cool. I also went crazy and knitted him a load of stuff from rowan magazines which are trendy and not old-fashioned - like Martin storey patterns - if you knit or have a generous relative/friend who could knit some bits up, that would be cool. (I don't do it now, takes too long now he's bigger!)

I would say you don't need to buy much, as such a lot won't get worn when they are small, I have a capsule wardrobe for him so all colours go together.

Also enjoy putting your baby in beautiful white clothes for the first 6 months. After that, there's no hope as almost all baby food is Orange and will stain !

Also, I second the keep them comfy advice - in natural fibres. also, snow suits were a waste of money (getting in and out of car -
Pain)
Congratulations. I'm broody again.......

thank you-never even thought of COS, I love hand knit stuff especially vintage styles, I only ever knitted the one jumper though! Never again.

Baby Zara

When mine were young, for first 3 or 4 months i dressed them.in babygroes.. my favourite one was from halloween in black with a glow in the dark simple skeleton printed on it. They looked great. Grandparents warmed to it eventually Grin

Are you on Instagram OP? There are loads of small business pages on there, selling beautiful, handmade clothes. A lot are fairly unisex/bright, with gorgeous prints. Tobias and the bear I think has been mentioned already Smile

LoniceraJaponica · 12/08/2017 21:09

Get stuff that can be machine washed and can cope with poo explosions. And remember they grow out of clothes really quickly, so don't buy too many of one size.

BubblesBuddy · 12/08/2017 21:19

For special outfits, I used to buy Jacadi. I first saw one of their shops in France and I was hooked. Just classy and fabulous. They have a shop in Westfield, Shepherds Bush. The web site appears not be in the uk but it will give you the general idea. www.jacadi.com. I have kept my DDs baby/child clothes from there! She's now 25.

Cherubneddy1 · 12/08/2017 21:26

As others have said, Boden, Frugi, Polarn y Piret, Maiximora. Avoid Next, generally a bit Chavy in my humble opinion......, except for basics which are good quality.

museumum · 12/08/2017 21:30

This online shop is fab.

Pixie2015 · 12/08/2017 21:36

I love Rachel Riley and generally pick a few special bits up on sale

SummerRains · 12/08/2017 21:40

I also like Pigeon as well as Frugi, POP, John Lewis, Bowden and joules..

SummerRains · 12/08/2017 21:41

Boden ( drafted auto correct!)

MrsPandaBear · 12/08/2017 22:01

John Lewis is good for non pink stuff, and they do good sales. I dont know what sort of clothes you have in mind, but my daughter is currently at the crawling stage and gets her knees caught up in long dresses, so you do want a few pairs of dungarees (some shorter dresses don't get caught up but I can't work out why some are OK and others aren't).

Another vote for Zara! Also little white company are beautiful and classic. Tk maxx might sound bonkers but if you are up for a rummage you might find some lovely stuff among the tat! Baby gap worth a look. Caramel baby and child are £££ but so beautiful. I love the things in a beautiful online boutique called MamaOwl with a focus on natural fibres. There's a sale section that's worth a peek at.

Enjoy watching your life savings take wings!

thatorchidmoment · 12/08/2017 22:26

Forgot to mention Monsoon, and I bought some surprisingly beautiful clothing in our local large Boots.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 13/08/2017 07:23

I am on Instagram so I'll definitely look on there, we also go to France a lot so I can check out Jacadi.
Ian looking at all suggestions, thank you!
