I'm underwhelmed. In fact I think so far - wait for all the new season items to come out- it's one of the worst so far.

I think there is 1 dress I may order- the ruched Rita dress- but everything else is terrible.

I used to buy basics from them each season but so far, if I like the style, the colours are crap and vice versa.

It's the same old styles they have had for ages, just slightly different colours. I mean just how many everyday cardigans does a girl want? Ditto Richmond trousers. I am buying less and less each year.

The only decent thing they have sold in the recent past is the 'off duty jumper' and they've stopped bothering with that now.

Everything else on there is dated or garish.

Those folk boots....... 😱

ontherightpath · 08/08/2017 18:43

Just had a look... every other item is something I would happily wear. Dresses with sleeves, shirts & tops that are long enough to tuck in, skirts in wearable lengths (not mini or maxi), bright colours & patterns rather than endless black and navy, what's not to like? Grin

AlpacasPackOwls · 08/08/2017 18:46

I got their catalogue through yesterday and I like a number of things. Just can't afford any!

LilaoftheGreenwood · 08/08/2017 18:49

The colours esp on the knitwear seem really odd this year, they're either garishly neon bright or a bit murky and insipid, they're usually really good at that middle jewelled tones sweet spot.

Some of the dresses look fab but I can't be doing with them since the across the board £20 price hike.

34AQuid · 08/08/2017 18:51

I've ordered a couple of the v-neck Ravello tops in new colours for work, + the Rita ruched dress, the Marisa Ottomon dress and the Connie Ponte dress. Nice, classic, wearable dresses for work.

All decent and in longer length, which is a win for me .

I always find a few decent dresses and tops for work at Boden.

I go for the plain colours - hate Boden prints - and while they're never groundbreaking, they're good quality and do the trick.

Just steer clear of the 'fun' spots and prints Grin

ThinkIlikeit · 08/08/2017 18:52

I like far more than usual but the high prices put me off.

tinytemper66 · 08/08/2017 19:13

Most of my Boden stuff I buy from eBay!

Callamia · 08/08/2017 19:16

I've just bought some of the kids' Chelsea boots. They are totally cute, and what I've been looking for for over a year. There was nothing else that particularly inspired me though.

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 19:24

I've ordered 2 of the v neck ravello tops
And the spot lola skirt which is lovely
But 2 pairs of shoes had to go back
£198 for a tote?
£120 for a raincoat?
Nope

Mrsmartell08 · 08/08/2017 19:24

....bit generally I agree op!!

petalpower · 08/08/2017 20:15

Their prices seem to have taken a real hike this season I thought. Most of the dresses seem to be heading towards the £100 mark.

PollyPerky · 08/08/2017 20:22

I like most of the ponte dresses and the rushed dresses but am struggling with the colours. I don't suit black, navy is passable but bright pink, red, etc no!
There are no dresses that I'd consider 'out to dinner or on a date' dresses! They all have high necks and 1 ponte dress with a scoop neck has short sleeves. Another has a scooped back. For winter?

I don't need formal clothes for work so there is nothing which I'd feel was smart casual with a bit of oomph to look sexy!

A lot of them remind me of what Nigella wears and judging by the dark haired lovelies and big boobs, that's the look he's aiming for.

rushed! ruched!

I like nearly half of it but am too fat and too poor for it.

Shhhh · 08/08/2017 21:48

Wow !
I've just returned half a dozen items to Boden last week. Items I've had up to 6 mths, worn lightly, washed as per instructions but basically the fabric is naff & the tops are now fit for charity.
They have refunded me. initially a credit note but I've gone mad telling them how how fire their clothing is now.
I've been a customer for 12+ yrs & told them that in the last 1-2 yrs I've ordered less & less.
Their range is poor, unappealing & poor quality when I do opt to order. Or stuff I like is out of stock...
I'm not happy with Boden ATM.
I was asked to be a party host for them in sept but have cancelled. How can I sell their stuff when I don't have faith in it myself ?!

CakeNinja · 08/08/2017 21:58

I've ordered quite a few bits.
I'm a TA in primary, their clothes are functional, have pockets, tops are a decent length so they don't ride up, high cut so not revealing, dresses come in longer lengths (useful as I'm tall), have sleeves... pretty much all I'm looking for in basic workwear.
I have also found that everything I have bought from there over the years washes well, keeps its shape and doesn't fade. No problems here.
I never wear any of it out of work though as it is pretty boring and mumsy - which is exactly how I want dress for school!

Shhhh · 08/08/2017 22:02

See cakeninja, I've always said the same.... their stuff washes well and lasts.... but now I'm not finding that to be true.

Jemimapuddleduk · 08/08/2017 22:02

I got the catalog yesterday and there's quite a bit I like- there's a lot of navy which works for me and the ruffled Breton and embellished Bretons look fab (I am so predictable and live in stripes). I am quite taken by the flowery/bird folksy pattern too. Anyway can't afford it this month but hoping to pick up some bits for autumn.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 08/08/2017 22:03

I got the catalogue today and was pleasantly surprised. There are about 10 things I have my eye on. Usually it's difficult to find one.

There are a lot less garish patterns, so that's a big bonus!

CakeNinja · 08/08/2017 22:05

That's really disappointing Shhh.
I've always used Boden for practical workwear, have had no issues at all.
Hope you get your money back.

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 08/08/2017 22:11

Agree that the quality for women's clothes has really gone downhill and I would be wary of buying again. For children's clothes it's more hit and miss - for us maybe one in 4 or 5 items of clothing has lasted well. The rest are faded, thinned and shapeless after a few months of careful wearing and washing.

I too noticed the price hike - it's even more overpriced than usual. £30 for pyjama bottoms for boys, anyone? Hmm

Ponks · 08/08/2017 22:42

I'm another who got the catalogue and actually liked a lot of what I saw this time rather than struggling to find anything. Have immediately ordered some trousers and a top, would have liked to order a couple of jackets & jeans as well but will wait for a higher discount code.

polyhymnia · 08/08/2017 23:04

I buy many of my clothes from Boden ( mostly in plain colours) and have found quality good.

Have put a few things in my basket. One is the Rita dress. Which colour way have those who ordered that chosen? Can't decide.
On price, there is always a 20% off and free p and p code around, which helps.

hiccupgirl · 09/08/2017 07:40

I've bought a lot from Boden over the last couple of years. Generally the clothes are better quality than the high street and I have got some amazing bargains in the clearances. But a few of the cheaper tops I've bought have faded fast or bobbled which puts me off.

I found a couple of things I like in the new catalogue but I'm not keen on the patterns this time and I don't want plain red, pink or bright green. That leaves black or navy which I've already got dresses in. There is a tunic I really like but won't buy without at least 25% off.

Mrsmartell08 · 09/08/2017 07:48

I love Boden but the quality has really gone down imo
The kids jeans used to be amazing .....indestructible almost!
The last top I bought in the sale had to go back...it was so thin it was see through...it was £39 in the sale!
Some of the dresses are lovely
Are the women's jeans any good?
