I'm new to nail care and have just discovered the marvellous Essie.

I bought 'Luxedo'.

Any other colours to recommend?

I think the queen is supposed to use one called baby's breath Grin

Meet Me at Sunset

Christmastree43 · 03/08/2017 22:35

Agree they are fab though I love the wide brushes - get a lovely shape of polish on my nails. No colour recommendations are springing to mind though as I have used OPI almost exclusively the past few years as sis gets them at trade prices - all time favourite OPI is tickle my France-y and loving got myself into a jam-balaya this summer ☺️

I have Really Red and a couple of pale ones that I am too shortsighted to read the labels on. Good quality though.

MarciaBlaine · 03/08/2017 22:47

Tea and crumpets - marvellous name and lady like. Found my glasses...

Spin the Bottle

Vanity Fairest is a great 'your nails but better' colour. Better than their Mademoiselle or Ballet Slippers in my opinion, both of which can be a pain to apply.

Goblinsa · 03/08/2017 23:12

My go-to colours tend to be "miss fancy pants" and "petal pushers". I absolutely adore "blossom dandy" for monochromatic outfit days though!

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 03/08/2017 23:14

I've been using Touch Up. It's one of those colours that pretty much goes with anything. 2 coats followed by a top coat. I add a new top coat every other day and can make the colour last a week that way. Then I rest my nails for a week , using only treatment products.

Fifth avenue for the classic red. Head mistress for a slightly darker red (so versatile). Sunday Funday, which is variant on their sweet coral coloured Cute as a button, but with glittery flecks - perfect for summer.

I've just googled the colours listed here and now I really want meet me at sunset - I love red and I love orange....

Lottapianos · 04/08/2017 08:04

Tart Deco is a bright peach, one of my favourite Summer colours
Licorice is the best black polish I've ever used, it's so easy to apply
Midnight Cami is navy with a hint of glitter
I adore Luxedo too!

OCSockOrphanage · 04/08/2017 09:49

Fishnet Stockings for a true red, or Meet Me at Sunset. My go to nude is Not Just a Pretty Face (not quite as pink as some mentioned above, so better on my olive skin).

OneOfTheGrundys · 04/08/2017 17:36

Aaah so many lovely things!!!!!

I've a feeling that this'll be a little treat for me from time to time.

Thank you all x

Boat House. The most lovely summery pink- coral.

JessicaPeach · 04/08/2017 18:07

I love Luxedo too, beautiful colour. I bought Eternal Optimist yesterday

habibihabibi · 04/08/2017 20:04

Sugar Daddy - slightly pink sheer

trixymalixy · 04/08/2017 20:05

Tart deco is my favourite.

I got a fab set of four for £10 in the boots sale yesterday including chinchilly which is another one I like

trixymalixy · 04/08/2017 20:08

total bargain

cessie322 · 04/08/2017 20:36

Great thread, loving the suggestions. I've Watermelon on my toes at the moment and love it. Shambolica1 I'm looking forward to trying Vanity Fairest, I've just put Ballet Slippers on and it's looks awful, all streaky. I don't recommend that one.

Shambolical1 · 04/08/2017 22:48

cessie322 yes, Ballet Slippers seems to promise so much but it's a rare failure on the formula front for Essie! Vanity Fairest has a slight shimmer to it and is much easier to apply. It's quite long-lasting too. I second Sugar Daddy as mentioned by habibihabibi for a natural pinky sheer. Another favourite is a squishy, jelly finish corally red called Geranium.

MikeUniformMike · 04/08/2017 22:50

The Queen only ever wears Ballet Slippers. I like it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/08/2017 23:33

I must be the only person on the planet not to get the Essie love, I need about 4 coats and it's still streaky!

Arealhumanbeing · 05/08/2017 05:28

Sand Tropez for now which is a lovely beigey grey then switch to Bobbing for baubles in the autumn, my favourite navy blue.

AmyOb · 05/08/2017 07:38

I love the Penny Talk and the Ballet Nudes Collection 2017.
