Reasonably priced everyday perfume

I love Chanel chance eau tendre but it's expensive so I keep it for holidays and nights out.

But I'd like something new for everyday and work wear. Normally wear clarins eau dynamisante through the winter and eau resourcesant in the summer but they don't seem to last long and people can't smell them on me.

So I'm looking for something long lasting, strong but not migraine inducing, and not as expensive as Chanel

What's your everyday fave?

I like the original Ghost perfume. It's my everyday one. I get compliments on it.

I also like Jean Paul Gaultier. The original lady shaped bottle. It's stronger an defo lasts all day.

Missingthesea · 01/08/2017 10:14

I've just started wearing Happy as well. I think it smells quite similar to Estee Lauder Pleasures, but it's considerably cheaper Smile

MozzchopsThirty · 01/08/2017 11:21

I used to wear happy but it reminds me of the start of my relationship with exh so it's a no for that

How can you tell which Milton Lloyd perfumes are like which premium brand perfumes? Is there a list? Thanks!

MozzchopsThirty · 01/08/2017 11:29

That's what I was wondering?

Liz Earle website has discount on a couple of perfumes today and they smell lovely. My fave is no. 15 but the rose one is nice. I look out for Miller Harris in t k maxi which they occasionally have. Off to check out that Lidl one recommended though, surprised but could be a find.

nina2b · 01/08/2017 11:54

Why buy cheaper versions or fakes? Wear the real deal.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 01/08/2017 12:07

Why buy cheaper versions or fakes?

There's this thing called "money", not sure if you've heard of it?

HammerToFall · 01/08/2017 12:13

I like diesel loverdose (the black one) and lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. I often get complimented on both of them but especially the SJP one.

allegretto · 01/08/2017 12:16

Someone recommended Happy Heart on this board and I bought it - I love it, so thanks to whoever that was. It might fit the bill but not sure if it is excluded too!

notsusan · 01/08/2017 16:45

Re Milton Lloyd, I like to try and guess them myself from packaging and name 😉, but there's also this: forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=5307712

Mono theme Vetiver and Bourbon is lovely.

bananafanana1 · 01/08/2017 17:33

It's not cheap but Tom Ford Black Orchid get loads of comments and lasts ages. It's a distinctive scent too. Worth every penny.

MrsPear · 01/08/2017 17:42

DKNY women

Rufus27 · 01/08/2017 19:02

Notsusan Cheers! I cheated by looking at the list first and am now annoyed with myself

Rufus27 · 01/08/2017 19:03

Nina Do you really need to ask, or are you being a GF because some of us cant afford the real deal?

ChishandFips33 · 01/08/2017 21:26

Paul Smith Woman and Cerruti 1881 often come up cheap in Asda for the big bottles

CK One is a blast from the past - massive bottle often about £20 in Superdrug

Sunflowers

Home Bargains and B&M often do perfumes at decent prices

myusernamewastaken · 02/08/2017 04:45

Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom is lovely and a good price too...

St01c · 02/08/2017 19:33

Lol at Nina! Well I lost my job in January, I've two kids and I'm a single parent so I'll find a scent that's under a tenner. I agree the body shop ones are lovely. I also got a bottle of Madonna's Truth in a sale and it was a tenner. It's beautiful. I'm not kidding. It's like Miller Harris Tuberose!

IWantToSmellLikeAMemory · 02/08/2017 19:43

Too funny Nina.

Or not.

You know what they say, can't buy class. Wink

Come and have a browse at the perfumista thread, and you might be pleasantly surprised how many of us rave about, and really rate, less expensive perfumes and dupes.

Many perfume houses spend about 5p a bottle on manufacture, and the rest of what you pay goes to the advertising agencies and Julia Roberts/Uma/Kate etc.

I'd rather have a big bottle from the perfume-parlour Wink

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/08/2017 20:27

So would I even though I could easily afford the real thing, I'm not paying for advertising and a fancy bottle when everything I've tried from PP so far smells exactly the same, and I've got quite a collection now, about 10 25 I'd rather have a day out with the family thank you very much!

I'm also really fickle with perfumes so I stick to eBay travel samples or PP. I've heard Scent Samples is a good website too.

thecatfromjapan · 02/08/2017 20:59

I wear a (to me!) really lovely PerfumeParlour perfume. Theoretically, it's a copy of a Jo Malone scent but it's nothing like - which is fortunate because I don't like the 'original'. It's saffron and something. It was so, so cheap!! It's become one of my favourite perfumes.

I find a lot of 'copy' perfumes quite 'screechy' (very scientific term) but I've really liked the PP ones I've tried.

Another place to try is the AllBeauty website, which discounts.

And keep an eye on T K Maxx. I still haven't quite recovered from the shock of buying a bunch of Serge Lutens perfumes for £30 each.

(Perfume Parlour is cheaper than that. You have to try Perfume Parlour. I found the site via the MN recommendations and I am so grateful. Grin)

Superpretzel · 02/08/2017 21:04

I'm a huge Bronnley fan - their lime and bergamot fragrance is amazing and very reasonably priced. www.bronnley.co.uk/product-category/fragrances-2/citrus-collection-fragrances/

expatmigrant · 02/08/2017 21:09

mavis where are you buying Fidji? Love it but not seen for years.

BubblesBuddy · 02/08/2017 21:18

I too would suggest Allbeauty. I have found brilliant bargains from Fendi, Roberto Cavalli and Salvatore Ferragamo for example. You can filter by price and importantly size of discount! I feel I can experiment a bit with them - have only had one mistake!
