Inspiration needed for autumn footwear

I know it's still summer...but I bought a fine cord dress in the sale, which I'll wear to work in the autumn, & it's going to need black boots or shoes. I don't have any at the moment, & need new shoes/boots anyway. I mostly wear dresses for work. I don't wear heels, & I walk & use public transport, so I avoid footwear that would get ruined in wet weather. I quite like quirky styles & my job doesn't often require me to be super-smart. Any suggestions?

I should add, I don't mind a low heel.

Fly London? I have two pairs of their boots, comfortable and waterproof.

Blondielongie · 29/07/2017 22:55

Watching with interest.

I've seen some on Clark's with goretex. I hate having wet feet in the rain.

Blogwoman · 29/07/2017 23:05

TooMinty yes I like the look of Fly London but not had any myself. Not sure what sort of thing would work best with dresses & opaque tights. Any suggestions?

Blondie what are the clarks ones?

I have their Chelsea boots plus a pair of calf length biker boots. Both go well with opaque tights/leggings/skinny jeans. I'm not into dainty girly footwear though!

TooMinty I've got a pair of Timberland Chelsea boots which I really like, & wear with dresses; they need replacing so that's a thought. I'll look at Fly.

I like both those Smile

Another convert 😀

I have tiny feet so it is always great when I find a brand that come in size 3.

Blogwoman · 29/07/2017 23:21

I have big feet! Bet the Fly styles look fab on small feet though!

I saw the Clarks goretex boots too but I have size 8 feet with size 5 ankles so if I wear ankle boots they look like boats on me Sad

Blogwoman · 29/07/2017 23:34

There's a sizing scheme for ankles? I didn't know that!

Are these the Clarks boots? www.clarks.co.uk/c/Cheshunt-Be-GORE-TEX®/p/26119478

OP posts:
QueenoftheAndals · 30/07/2017 07:01

Yes those ones. It seems the bigger the foot size, the wider they are at the top.

TronaldDump · 30/07/2017 07:10

No suggestions but the dress sounds good - any chance of a link please?

Blondielongie · 30/07/2017 08:20

Sorry..went to bed.

I didn't see those short ones, I like them, but would they look good with knee length or above skirts /dresses?

I like these (coming soon) www.clarks.co.uk/c/Witcombe-Sky-GORE-TEX%C2%AE/p/26127340

But it was these I saw: www.clarks.co.uk/c/Cheshunt-Hi-GORE-TEX®/p/26119480

Hope the links work.

Years ago I bought a fab pair of Clarks calf length boots that actually fit my skinny calves. They are now falling apart but I've not found anything to replace them. I've considered getting them patched up but not sure if anywhere can do anything for boots with holes in the toes!

TooMinty · 30/07/2017 08:54

The Fly ones do help create the illusion that I have normal sized feet I think!

I'm afraid they are quite wide at the ankles Queen so may not suit your slim ankles.

I used to have Doc Martens that were more fitted - it was a few years ago but still worth looking to see if they have anything decent now?

Blogwoman · 30/07/2017 11:21

Blondie yes I don't think I feel confident about which sort of short boot (assuming any) would look good with dresses. I like the longer Goretex ones you posted, but I'm less inclined to go for a long boot as I have Sorel boots which hardly leave my feet from about December to the end of Feb! Could go for shoes - but not ballet flats & not loafers unless they're a bit interesting!

I have the leather fit flop shuv shoes (how outing - I'm the only one around these parts who wears them) and they look ok with black tights / dress.
