Inspiration needed for autumn footwear

I know it's still summer...but I bought a fine cord dress in the sale, which I'll wear to work in the autumn, & it's going to need black boots or shoes. I don't have any at the moment, & need new shoes/boots anyway. I mostly wear dresses for work. I don't wear heels, & I walk & use public transport, so I avoid footwear that would get ruined in wet weather. I quite like quirky styles & my job doesn't often require me to be super-smart. Any suggestions?

Watching as I need some too. I want thick soles though as it gets cold and wet in winter here and I get cold feet walking around with thin-soled shoes. At the moment the only ones I have which can deal with wet weather are hiking shoes, but can't wear those to work!
