Boden - new season

Has anyone else had the new season collection email from Boden? I think I saw just one thing I would consider wearing. I used to buy loads from them but really struggle these days.

I had a catalogue about 2 weeks ago or maybe 3. It's the same as what's on their website currently. is that what you mean? I don't think it is 'new season' especially, just the end of summer as there are lots of clothes for summer still in it. A few ponte dresses and some new everyday cardis and the rest is what's been around for months.

Unless you have a newer catalogue?

Its not terribly exciting, but I have ordered a couple of dresses for work.

bitterbuddhist · 29/07/2017 21:33

Weren't Boden going into upmarket stuff (I'm sure I saw a limited silk edition dress by them that cost around £500-£600). But I'm not a fan of Boden at all. I find their prints clumsy and loud (I'm an Orla Kiely print lover myself).

Zahrah5 · 29/07/2017 22:58

I looked at it this morning. It is all such dark colors, very depressing. I dont wear dark colors. I dont know who else can pull those darks besides winter types.

PollyPerky · 30/07/2017 07:23

Had a look. The only dress that I am vaguely interested in is the Rita ruched dress. I ordered one before and returned - decided print was too garish. Otherwise most of it looks shapeless and frumpy.

Hairq · 30/07/2017 07:29

Oh, I really like the colours. I usually moan that everything they sell would look better on blondes because I look terrible in light colours, so these are perfect for me. Less horrible loud prints than usual too.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 30/07/2017 07:42

It's all so dark and depressing. Where are all the lovely plain bright & jewel-hued basics? That's what they used to excel in. The prices are also idiotic too, especially for pinte & polyester.

QueenoftheAndals · 30/07/2017 07:52

Hmm, couldn't see a single thing there that I liked and the colours are rather dull. Also, with the way the clothes are displayed it's harder to tell how they'll look. Bit easier if a model is shown wearing them.

My overall impression is a lot of boring pieces and some downright fugly ones, these jeans for example - WTF??

herecomesthsun · 30/07/2017 08:08

The bright fun colours tend to get reduced in the sales; black and navy are the options that sell out quickest.

NorthernLurker · 30/07/2017 09:20

I buy a lot less than I used to do. Partly because they stopped doing 22 in many items.

Floisme · 30/07/2017 09:55

I think of Boden in the same way I think of M&S: not my first port of call and guaranteed to get a bashing on here but I can normally find something I like.

This coat reminds me of an early Bob Dylan LP, you know where he's walking down the street with his girlfriend? Love tweed.

I can't open the page today but I was looking last night and they had some velvet wide legs, although they might have been a bit shiny? And besides I already have some from the last time they were in town.

And I'm glad they're doing the slouchy cashmere V necks still, just in case anyone gives me a voucher for my birthday. I was lucky enough to find a second hand one and the shape is great.

I like some of the dark colours - makes a change for Boden - and think they could be flattering.

Floisme · 30/07/2017 10:06

Here's the LP cover I was talking about just in case anyone's remotely interested. You probably can't see the coat anyway but it's a grey wrap and looks very similar.

Her name was Suze Rotolo who sadly died a few years ago - she sounded like an interesting woman.
I had a boyfriend at uni who was very into Dylan and I used to walk down the street with him, pretending to be her Blush So I obviously can't buy it myself as it would be too weird and stalkery.

Sorry for hijack.

Omg Flo me too! Except he was pre uni. Played Dylan on a guitar though and had the hair. I better not buy it either. Grin

Floisme · 30/07/2017 14:23

Ooh I hope it wasn't the same guy two-timing us Enid I have to say I wouldn't put it past him.

Floisme · 30/07/2017 14:25

Shit you're going to tell me you married him now aren't you? Blush

I was watching an interview with Suze Rotolo the Martin Scorcese Bob Dylan doc last night and thinking what a nice woman she sounded and how cool she looked so was sad when I realised she'd died.

EnidButton · 30/07/2017 14:58

Shit you're going to tell me you married him now aren't you

Oh god no! He a brief thing during my rebel stage and I wouldn't have put it past him either. Grin

whitewineandchocolate · 30/07/2017 17:54

Just had a quick look and it all looks rather dull or an extremely odd pattern. At least I won't be spending too much.

FlindersKeepers · 30/07/2017 19:27

Was quite taken with Edith skirt but £90 is still quite pricey. I do have a navy problem, this could add some colour in a way I can come with though.
Maddie top looked appealing from the colour, but is polyester (at silk prices).

neveradullmoment99 · 30/07/2017 20:01

I had a look. Its all pretty dowdy. I quite like muted deep colours [ I am a winter] but there was very little i liked. I agree though, its hard to tell cause its not on a model. I don't think i saw one thing i would order.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/07/2017 20:12

They seem to have gone very poly.

Zahrah5 · 30/07/2017 20:22

They announced they are opening some stores and also will be in some John Lewis's.

polyhymnia · 31/07/2017 14:06

Yes, they're advertising for staff for a Kings Rd store and a concession in JL.

PollyPerky · 31/07/2017 14:39

here is the news...

www.cityam.com/263342/boden-open-womenswear-concessions-five-john-lewis-stores

Convenient for me, but what with free p&p most of the time and returns, I can't say I'm that fussed and I expect the concessions in stores won't stock an entire range.
