Dress for sun holiday. What's the general consensus ... nice or awful?

TIA

The link isn't working, can you post a pic?

I like Hush so it's probably a yes from me anyway!

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 16:49

Sorry! Another shot at the link www.hush-uk.com/womenswear/daywear/dresses_skirts/laurel_off_shoulder_dress_botanical_print.htm

It's a yes from me - although you would have to try it on to be sure, that length might look a bit frumpy. I would also go for less clumpy sandals.

TimetohittheroadJack · 11/07/2017 17:03

I think it depends... Personally I wouldn't buy it as I think its a bit long (i have good legs so don't mind getting them out) and the belt round the waist would make me look like a big barrel. And the lack of bra would add to the barrel effect.

However, it looks lovely on the model, and I can imagine would be a great shape if you are a pear.

rizlett · 11/07/2017 17:10

I like the pattern but worried about the length. The fabric is mixed fibre so might be hot if you are going somewhere really hot.

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 17:11

I'm a size 8/10 with a bit of a tummy, DH and kids love it on. Once the belt is on, it does look lovely but I will only wear it on holiday as too bare for home and that's what I'm struggling with.

There's also this which is nice on too but is it a but mumsy?

OP posts:
Foxsox · 11/07/2017 17:11

I'd say no based on the length.

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 17:11

Oh and I would wear a strapless bra with the Hush dress!

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 17:12

Is the length too long or too short?

Orangebird69 · 11/07/2017 17:13

Don't like the Hush one, love the Warehouse one.

Nettletheelf · 11/07/2017 17:21

I concur that the Warehouse one is mumsy.

The Hush one looks better but is bloody polyester. Is it that type of polyester that feels l Ike jacket lining? If so you will sweat like nobody's business in warm weather.

laramara · 11/07/2017 17:22

I was just going to say they're both polyester not ideal for holidays, sorry!

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 17:26

They both feel okay ... divided opinons then!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2017 17:39

I prefer the Hush one but think you'd swelter in it. Don't like the Warehouse one.

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 18:03

Aaaargh ... go away in a few days! Need a find me a dress challemge thread!

OP posts:
BadTasteFlump · 11/07/2017 18:12

They're both ok, but I woukd never pay that much for polyester! Actually I just wouldn't wear polyester anyway.

PollyPerky · 11/07/2017 18:15

Not keen on either, sorry. The Hush one looks odd.

SesameSparkle · 11/07/2017 19:03

I tried that hush dress in John Lewis. It didn't work for me at all as there was just too much fabric for my height, and my waist doesn't go in enough. I also don't like the bust panel, which didn't leave enough space for wearing a bra underneath. I can imagine on the right person it could look lovely though. The top in the same fabric is possibly a bit more versatile as you could wear it in more ways, e.g. with shorts or a skirt on hols, and then as a nice top over a pair of skinnies when back in the UK. There is a silk version of that top too.

Fourlittlethings · 11/07/2017 20:21

TBH, I didn't even look at the fabrics when I ordered them!

Having a real confidence wobble ... holiday in a few days, local shopping is dire and potentially two dressses down . If anyone can take a moment and do links to suitable dresses either on here or my other thread, I will be forever grateful Grin.

Sesame, you already have, thank you,

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/07/2017 20:27

Do you have any local shops? Sainsburys occasionally do nice cotton dresses.

WicksEnd · 11/07/2017 21:44

Bollocks, just set up loads of links and they disappeared. One at a time then,
A couple from fat face, not a shop I use usually but I've also been struggling!

WicksEnd · 11/07/2017 21:47

I saw someone in the pub wearing this on Saturday, she looked great so I bought it!
Incidently, I was wearing the hush dress at the time! I love it. Material feels lovely, are you sure it's polyester? Shock

Will only work if you're tall and thin. Prefer the second but same again because of the length.
