I'm off out on Saturday night. It's a sit down dinner and dance thing but not too smart as it's a football do.

I've spent ages trying on things I've ordered only to send them back as they just don't suit me. So I've decided to stick to stuff I already own.

I haven't worn this top for ages and I'm not sure it looks ok, I like the colour with the silver shoes/bag but not too sure on the shape of it.

I need something that covers my belly as it is huge and I look 7 months pg, (I'm not exaggerating)

It's either this top or a looser coral one which I love but not sure about with silver shoes.

I'm at the point of not going because I've stressed out so much about it. Please help!

Really don't understand the comments about the skinny jeans, I think they look fab! And both outfits look great OP, love the accessories

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 06/07/2017 01:20

Ok, total curve ball here but I've just ordered this dress on a whim. Do we think it would suit my shape? I never get my legs out as I have large calves and skinny ankles but for some reason this dress called to me. Smile

Some questions...

A. Is it too smart/weddingy for an evening football do?

B. If I do love it and it looks ok on, will it look truly awful with my never-seen-the-sun-blue/white legs?

C. Does build up tan moisturiser stuff work in 2 days?

Thanks again for any help you bloody stars.

That dress looks lovely! I don't think it's too smart, provided you feel comfortable and confident in it.

As a fellow owner of blue/white legs I recommend either the Garnier Summer Body gradual tan which is a nice realistic colour but adds quite a good tan from the first day, so builds up really quickly OR the Sally Hansen airbrush legs stuff which isn't a gradual tanner, it's just spray on colour, but it doesn't come off unless you wash it properly with soap and water.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 06/07/2017 02:08

Dress is gorgeous. Its weird how sometimes clothes almost speak to you.
I'd start putting gradual tan on a few days before or if you can afford it. Go for a spray tan.
Also mint green nails would look nice.
Itd break up the pink and silver

twostepsister · 06/07/2017 08:59

The dress is lovely and the colour is perfect and will look great with your shoes and bag. Start building up the tan from today, exfoliate first. I use Olay Complete Everyday Sunshine (deep tone) ... which is essentially for the face but it gives me a natural look and you notice the difference after a few hours. Use it on arms and face to give you an even colour.
A dress is perfect and ticks all the boxes for the occasion.

Lovely frock

VictoriaMcdade · 06/07/2017 09:26

It's a lovely frock but I would be careful with anything that is gathered about the waist if you carry weight on your tummy.

I am the same size and shape as you and that dress would make me look a bit pregnant Sad. I've also got nice boobs, but have weight round my tummy and it's so difficult to dress suitably. (I'm also not comfortable showing a lot of cleavage, so end up looking like a Les Dawson old lady.)

VictoriaMcdade · 06/07/2017 09:30

What about a pair of smart navy trousers?

I know what you mean Victoria
I'm not sure whether it'll make me look bigger in the belly or flatter it. Won't know until I try it on anyway.

Even if it looks ok I'll probably panic and not wear it, its so far out of my comfort zone, I never wear dresses.

Those trousers are lovely and exactly what I've been looking for but they cost more then I spend on clothes in a year Grin

I've tried similar ones on but they haven't been quite right. probably because they were cheap

TBH I think you are not dressing to show your body shape to your best advantage. It looks like you have great boobs but the high neckline of both tops is not doing any favours. I think the jeans you are wearing paired with a low-ish v-neck top with short or 3/4 length sleeves that is a little floaty and finishes at your lower hip would suit your body shape a lot better. You have a great figure btw!

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 08/07/2017 00:45

The dress looks good on me! Hooray who knew I could wear a dress with this fucked up body?!

Anyway, my worry now is it's too much for the occasion. I won't stand out like a sore thumb in it will I?

EnidButton · 08/07/2017 02:31

Please don't call your body fucked up. I know you might be joking and I'm being a fanny but be nicer to yourself. You look great and your body works.

I like pale skin but if you want a bit of colour you can get instant wash off tanning stuff. I've used the St Tropez one and really liked it. Very easy to use, instant and won't come off until you want it to. Apply with one of those tanning mitt things. www.boots.com/st-tropez-instant-tan-wash-off-lotion-light-medium-100ml-10163989

EnidButton · 08/07/2017 02:33

I don't think you'll be over dressed btw. Love the colour.

Onedayoneday · 08/07/2017 07:47

Wear the dress and enjoy it!

ConstanceCraving · 08/07/2017 08:21

Glad the dress looks good! Definitely not ott for such an occasion, it's just a nice dress and one you'll be able to wear again.

Horsemad · 08/07/2017 09:16

Can we see a pic of the dress on you?

If you decide not to wear it, I think the coral top is lovely.

RJnomore1 · 08/07/2017 09:24

Dress is lovely.

However I agree with bluntness, they coral top cuts you off at your broadest point and makes you look heavier than you are - note you are NOT heavy it's the illusion thing. The colour is fab on you but the length is all wrong. The blue one looks much better.

ConstanceCraving · 08/07/2017 09:28

I think the problem is with the pants tbh. The blue top is flattering but the coral top looks better with the pants.

Anyway shouldn't be a problem now you have the dress! Grin

twostepsister · 08/07/2017 10:10

It's a lovely dress and so pleased it looks good on you perfect for a summer evening. I went down the pub last night and most women were wearing dresses and skirts so please don't worry about being over dressed. I got in a cycle of wearing a uniform of black skinnies and nice top for a night out but have started to experiment with wearing a dress and skirts.
Have a great evening 🙂

LadyFlumpalot · 08/07/2017 10:11

Wear the dress. Who cares if it's "too much"? I bet you'll look fabulous and everyone else will be wishing they'd dressed up more as well.

I'm very much of the opinion that life is for living and if you find a gorgeous dress that makes you feel amazing then you damn well wear the dress.

NC4now · 08/07/2017 10:16

I don't think it will be too much. I bet there will be plenty of ladies in dresses there.

provider5sectorzz9 · 08/07/2017 10:19

You have great calves OP

MaryLennoxsScowl · 08/07/2017 11:37

If the dress suits you what about wearing it with flat sandals or flat pointy shoes to dress it down a bit, and a denim jacket?

ShmooBooMoo · 08/07/2017 16:53

Before you bought a dress, I was going to suggest one! The shape looks like it would be perfect for you. Can we see you in the dress? :)

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 09/07/2017 00:15

Not the best photo but here I am in the dress when I'd got home and kicked off the heels.

I felt good in it actually, I've seriously never worn a dress that wasn't a bridesmaid dress so it felt like a big deal but I did feel girly and swishy which was nice for a change.

I had a great night. Thanks for all your help Flowers
