Evening perfume recommendations pleade

CeeBeeBee · 02/07/2017 08:57

I've been given some birthday money and would like to spend
it on a "night out" perfume. I wear Paul Smith Rose during the day but want something more distinct for the evening.
Any recommendations please?
TIA

I like Chanel Allure Sensuelle for evening wear.

TealStar · 02/07/2017 09:08

Omg tits I just clicked on this thread to recommend Allure Sensuelle!!

Just got a new bottle after being without for years and I LOVE it. Op, I wear rose scents during the day and although Allure S isn't really rose-based, I do really like it.

I also wear Coco by Chanel (the original not the mademoiselle)

I love Dior Addict. I call it my "grown up" perfume.

ScarlettDarling · 02/07/2017 09:11

glitter I agree, my all time favourite is Dior addict....divine.

DisorderedAllsorts · 02/07/2017 09:19

Serge Noir by Serge Lutens

CeeBeeBee · 02/07/2017 12:35

Ok. Looks like a trip to Boots to sample Allure, Dior Addict and others. Thanks.

Or not of

CeeBeeBee · 02/07/2017 14:27

Gruach, got given £100 but not planning on spending more than £55 ish. I only need a small bottle as
I never seem to finish them before they are past their best.

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir

titsbumfannythelot · 02/07/2017 15:09

It's gorgeous isn't it, teal! I don't have it myself at the moment but I'm due a wee treat soon.

Let us know what you buy op.

MooMinCow · 02/07/2017 15:09

I wear Chanel Coromandel or Coco for winter nights out and Dior J'Adore L'Or (a variant of the original J'Adore, but very concentrated) or Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Intense (the Booby Lady bottle but the gold version) on warmer summer nights

HelsinkiLights · 02/07/2017 15:43

Liz Earle 15 or 100.

AgentCooper · 02/07/2017 15:45

Diptyque Oud Palao - I love it so much. Incensey and dark but not overpowering.

ImADingleDangleScarecrow · 02/07/2017 15:58

I love Stella by Stella McCartney & it has great staying power on me unlike Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir which I also love but the smell is gone after 10 minutes.

TealStar · 02/07/2017 16:19

I love Stella too Dingle but it has terrible staying power on me, so sad as I would buy it again if it only stayed. Funnily enough, Pomegranate Noir sticks like shot to a blanket on me (pardon the expression), so much so that I couldn't buy it again as it was so overpowering!

I'd love to read some research on different skin types and their reactions to certain types of ingredients.

TealStar · 02/07/2017 16:19

Sorry, shit to a blanket. 😬

SaigonSaigon · 02/07/2017 16:27

Passion by Annick Goutal

CeeBeeBee · 02/07/2017 18:38

Do people usually buy Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette? Is it worth buying EDP for its staying power or do you find that there is not much difference?

PerfumeIsAMessage · 02/07/2017 19:09

EDP and EDT are often completely different so do smell both before deciding!

If you like rose perfumes generally, but fancy something a bit more oomphy, you could do worse than Heeley Hippie Rose or Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady.

Alternatively, if you associate "evening" perfumes with grown up sophistication, then you might like a chypre? The classic Chanels, the old pre-Poison Diors? Miss Dior originale (not one of the eleventy squillion pink minger flankers that have been churned out recently!) Dioresence, Diorella (very grown up, verges on skanky at times Grin and some of the old Estee Lauders are also very grown up and classy. Reminds me, Knowing by EL is rosey too.

Teal- that's really interesting re the JM staying power as I've never tried a JM that lasts longer than about 8 seconds! Mind you, Atelier Colognes are even worse and have gone within about 6.

DisorderedAllsorts · 02/07/2017 19:10

EDP has massive staying powder as it's more concentrated and not diluted.

MooMinCow · 02/07/2017 19:12

I normally go for EDP but then again I'm not a frequent re-applier of perfume. A couple of squirts before I go out and that's it for the day. If you like to carry it around with you and reapply then go for an EDT. (Though some fragrances are so strong and long lasting you're better off with the EDT version unless you want to knock out everyone around you - Alien for instance!)

Onynx · 02/07/2017 19:15

Strangely enough I Ioved the EDT of Coco Chanel & had loads of compliments so I decided to buy the EDP. Nobody & I mean nobody, ever notices the EDP so I've decided to go back to the EDT!
