Do you like primark?

I sometimes find a nice shirt / blouse and buy it but then you see that many people wearing the same thing too.
Do you shop in primark much?

I think Primark bedding is really good quality for how cheap it is. Also buy socks and underwear for the kids.

Clothing is a bit bit and miss. Their jeans are ok, but t shirts don't last two minutes.

I also like their mascara which is only a couple of quid as well.

Germgirl · 22/06/2017 18:21

I love their skinny stretch jeans, the pyjamas, tea towels, bed linen and makeup brushes. Most of the rest of the stuff is a bit crap

ParadiseLaundry · 22/06/2017 18:34

I love primark and their stuff is definitely no worse quality than most of the high street. I wouldn't buy PJs anywhere else! I also love the kids clothes they do nice plain things that look like real outfits (unlike bloody Asda where all of the boys clothes are neon or with cars or something on them).

I really want to see a picture of these silver boots people chase you along the street for!

BumWad · 22/06/2017 18:34

Never go in there

user1471545174 · 22/06/2017 18:55

I find their basics (e.g. black or white t-shirts) last really well too.

Also like the cotton nightwear and often the shoes and bags.

Have bought for decades though, from Penneys before Primark came to England. As PP have said, if you keep it simple no-one can tell.

SomeOtherFuckers · 22/06/2017 18:59

T-shirts and basic skater dresses and some gym wear are all fine x

SomeOtherFuckers · 22/06/2017 18:59

Had a dress from there for 6 years that I got on sale for £3 ... wish I'd bought more as it's always complimented !

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/06/2017 19:02

I find shopping in there really stressful - hot, busy and hard to navigate - but I do like their pyjama trousers and also have a duvet set which is still going strong after a couple of years. I got my partner good boxers from there too.

Alcea · 22/06/2017 19:02

Not this year as I don't like cold shoulder, frills, bell sleeves, embroidery or play suits.

I do go there all the time with dd (14), so I know what's there. That's basically all they've had for the past 6 months.

Otherwise, yes, I've bought some great things over the years. Will try nightwear and makeup as suggested here. I had presumed I wouldn't like either, and like to spend money on those.

ToothFairiesHaveNoChange · 22/06/2017 19:04

Oh yes, £1.50 teeshirts for the gym. Their work out trainers are pretty good too and I love their jeans.

Highalert · 22/06/2017 19:05

I live in Primark skinnies. They fit me better than any other jeans.

I buy quite a lot of tops and cardigans and all my PJs from there.

Deathraystare · 22/06/2017 19:11

Oh yes. I do buy the short sleeve and long sleeve t shirts. I have bought Jeggings as well and some bags and footwear. I also have some lip pens as well. And some cardis. Not bras though.

Nymerialuna · 22/06/2017 19:36

I've got 2 fluffy jumpers and two skirts that I brought about 3 years ago and they are all still going strong, especially the jumpers which get worn at least once a week in the cooler months.
I've also had shoes and boots from them that have lastest better than some more expensive brands and I find them really comfy. My black knee high boots lastest my two winters for £15 and I wore them almost every day. My reduced from £130 to £75 boots lastest me abut 3 months before the leather pulled away from the sole. I got a pair of ugg type boots at Christmas for £5 and they are the comfiest boots ever and still look new.

retainertrainer · 22/06/2017 19:50

I bought a skirt from there last year for just a few pounds, wore it on Tuesday and got loads of compliments. I'd worn an expensive warehouse skirt the day before and no one gave it a second glance so there's definitely good stuff to be had.

happyinherts · 22/06/2017 19:53

I only seem to like the London, Tottenham Court Road store. It's more spacious and carries a wider range. Some of the smaller stores just seem to stock tat and I can't find anything I like. Coupled with a kind of jumble sale appearance and long queues, it isn't a pleasant experience. Best for very cheap T shirts / vest tops for casual wear, PJs and bedding.

JuicyCake · 22/06/2017 19:54

I haven't shopped there since I was a teenager. Prefer charity shops if I'm low on cash. All I see in Primark is a sea of tat, but funny I sometimes see something nice from there in Oxfam... Mad.

MacarenaFerreiro · 22/06/2017 19:55

I avoid it wherever possible, to be honest. I hate the "fast fashion" ethos of buy things cheaply, wear them a few weeks and then chuck them in the bin. Yes you can find the odd gem around the dross but a lot of it is stuff designed to last one season only.

sodablackcurrant · 22/06/2017 20:00

Yes I do.

I love it for holiday stuff. So cheap and cheerful. It's my go to place for stuff I can afford to discard or give away (or keep!) after the hols.

Brilliant for t shirt night wear that I cannot find anywhere else for the price! I hate Pjs.

And so many other things I just cannot think now!

It is not the place to buy the classic capsule wardrobe or anything, but it is not meant to be that kind of shop either.

I hope that doesn't sound elitist, it's not meant to.

Banania · 22/06/2017 20:02

Mostly it's awful, but I do love their pyjamas and socks. In their normal clothes I feel I look cheap and not quite 'done' - it's probably just psychological because I know how little the clothes cost.

But bits here and there can be great. I got some very handy summer shorts there this season and they do great cotton sundresses for little girls. It's also brilliant for when you've just had a baby and are breastfeeding. Thin long cardigans, stretchy camis, that kind of stuff.

Firenight · 22/06/2017 20:05

I still wear the primark night shirts I bought in 2009. Don't think I've shopped there since though.

AvoidingCallenetics · 22/06/2017 20:15

I bought Christmas jumpers in there - cheap and just as good as more expensive ones. Also got some nice long sleeve t shirts for dd, which have lasted so long she has outgrown them before they have worn out! Managed to get a nirvana T for dh, which he loved - still going strong, although a bit faded. They were also good for cheap Ts for ds to wear to the gym.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 22/06/2017 20:21

I've had stuff that's lasted years from Primark. Basic t shirts are ok, as are pyjamas, bedding and some house bits. I have a very rich friend who swears by Primark towels, when she could afford the poshest ones out there.

camelfinger · 22/06/2017 20:27

It's smelly, messy and the whole experience takes far too long, having to weave around piles of crap. But I have a few really nice things, that I tend to get from the slightly curated area at the front, before I've lost the will to live.

Maudlinmaud · 22/06/2017 20:28

I'm wearing primark skinnies and a top from there at the moment. Zaras quality is a match for primark right now. I like the place and always love a good snoop. Ours is tidy and well laid out. I'm constantly shopping though, it's a weakness.

Bumbumtaloo · 22/06/2017 20:35

Forgot to say on my previous post.

One of my closest friends always seems to find the good, nice bargains. It never happens for me.

The jeans and courdroy skinnies fit both of my DD's really well. So I do tend to get them from there and I do like summer dresses for them as well. It does tend to be t-shirts that don't wash well for us.
