What do I wear for this posh wedding?

Dh and I are going away next month for a family wedding, and both really looking forward to it.

I just have no idea what to wear! It's quite a posh affair and I would like to look classy.

I am 31, 5'8 and a size 8-10. Biggest problem for me is that I have an ugly plastic brace on my left foot. With any luck I could squeeze it into a pair of flat shoes and hope I can walk with my stick, or put my moon boot back on and wear a flat shoe on the other foot. Complete opposite of classy eh Grin

My only other issue is I'm not overly confident, I'm happy to get a tan and will have nails and lashes done but I'm really struggling to find something I like. I've never been able to wear a jumpsuit without looking like I have a cameltoe either! I like the idea of separates and I saw something in coast that was ok, but just a bit meh.

Dh will look gorgeous in his kilt.. are any of you lovelies able to help me, pretty please??

What sort do thing normally suits you? What do you normally like to wear?

You're tall and slim so you should have lots of options.

Northumberlandlass · 15/06/2017 13:52

About to say...tall & slim - you could probably wear loads of things and look amazing!

I am going to a wedding in Sept. I've bought this from Blonde & Wise. I am 6ft & size 16...... It's bloody lovely. I'm not a flowery person and will accessorise with gold sandals / clutch and something in my hair..I may tan but it's unlikely!

Blonde & Wise

Their dresses may not be your thing, but I'm not a fashionista!

MummaGiles · 15/06/2017 13:55

Can you get to a John Lewis or similar for a private shopper? If you're not sure what to try they might suggest you try things you'd otherwise dismiss.

Northumberlandlass · 15/06/2017 13:56

I am sure I got a House of Fraser 50% off email today.....

Llamacorn · 15/06/2017 13:56

Thank you both.
That's really nice Northumberlandlass I've not heard of them before.

I think my issue is wearing a beautiful dress and then looking weird with flat shoes lol. If I'm honest I'd normally dress a bit, erm, I don't want to say tarty as I hate the word and it's not exactly what I'm meaning but it all I can think of just now!

If you like the idea of separates, what about this and this?

Northumberlandlass · 15/06/2017 14:00

Could you find a long deep cut maxi dress you could wear with flats? I went to a black tie do last year and wore a navy blue, pleated floor length dress (from Asos Tall) with flats & no one was any wiser!

Llamacorn · 15/06/2017 14:07

Here's photos of shape and to give you ideas of what I usually wear.
Think my confidence has just completely been knocked over the last couple of years dealing with a disability now.
Dh is very tall so I'm always shorter than him even in heels so maybe that's why I'd feel weird or stumpy wearing flats.

Thanks, I'm not a particularly flowery person and most things I've seen have a huge flower print!
I love maxi dresses but struggle to walk in them with my afo and crutches, I actually wore a navy pleated maxi to the last wedding I was at and kept tripping up Blush

I really wouldn't worry about wearing flats if I were you OP, you are already tall so you don't need the extra height! But I like feeling small next to my DP. If you feel uncomfortable about it just wear a maxi dress that will cover your feet. Asos have lots of gorgeous flat shoes in their wedding section so there is a lot of choice.

Llamacorn · 15/06/2017 14:16

Thanks, I'll obviously have to bite the bullet and hope I can fit into flats.
Unfortunately I'd trip with a maxi dress on.

What about this?

Intransige · 15/06/2017 14:21

Can you get both feet into flats? If not then maybe a low block heeled sandal on the other foot as those boot things are a bit raised aren't they? Ultimately it's better to wear the boot thing if it wearing it will hurt you...!

ElleMcElle · 15/06/2017 14:23

Fortunately, flats are super fashionable - so embrace them and rock them!

ChainingDaisy · 15/06/2017 14:23

I really like these. The first one would look nice with flat scrappy sandles, the second with pink balet pumps. Just ignore the moon boot, you have to wear it, it's not going to make your clothes choices look stupid, I promise!
(Sorry, my phone doesn't feel like copy and paste today, so I've screen shot instead).

Shoes like these look less like you couldn't get into heels, perhaps?

Llamacorn · 15/06/2017 14:39

Thank you, yup I'm going to have to get over it aren't I Grin

That boss dress is really nice 👍🏼

I like those whistles shoes too! I'm not sure I can get my afo into flats as I can only wear it with one pair of trainers at the moment, I'll have to try some on I think and if not I'll have to go back to the ugliest ugg of the century!

What a fab idea though of wearing the moon boot and a little block heel, don't know why I didn't think if that before!

Thank you for saying I won't look stupid, I'm actually making myself feel unwell about this when I should be looking forward to a weekend away (sans kids too!!) with my dh.

This is what I saw from coast - is it too pale for a wedding? A bit meh?

It will be fine- though I expect anyone you don't know will assume you have broken your ankle, so have an easy answer if anyone asks. I'd be tempted to go short (classy short, not super mini) and just accept the moon boot like wearing a shirt skirt and biker type boots.

Intransige · 15/06/2017 14:46

I think the coast dress is a bit bridal perhaps, with that high-low train thing? If you don't love it then don't buy it, the moon boot won't be concealed by a bit of chiffon Grin

ChainingDaisy · 15/06/2017 14:48

I wouldn't wear that to a wedding...

Llamacorn · 15/06/2017 14:49

Moon boot won't be concealed with a bit chiffon 😂Grin Ok that's what I needed to hear! Haha ok I'll scrap the bridal chiffon shite and look for something else!

Ok, classy short and rock it I will!!

Llamacorn · 15/06/2017 14:52

Um... first too booby? Second too froo froo? Third too tight? Why am I so bad at this?!Shock
