I've just had secret Botox! Have told no one! Will I wake up frozen tomorrow?!

Literally am telling no one, just doing this for me, to look less grumpy and haggard.

No change yet! It's only been a few hours though!

Am slightly nervous about what I'll look like tomorrow!

Any advice?

Loads of people have no clue. We have earnest discussions about if I'd have it done. I tut and agree at Middle Aged men's dysapprival of it too Grin

Browtox · 18/06/2017 11:45

I'm thinking "m8 I've had it done for 5 years "

Truckingalong · 18/06/2017 15:57

I go to the consultant clinic and use their trainer, dr raphael. You can follow on Instagram. His work is amazing. They do a lot of noses and profile balancing and lips (not for me I don't think but his work could tempt me!!). Their cost for 1 area of Botox is very competative at £150 but their fillers are pretty pricey but I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Sci - I can absolutely move my eyebrows!

FruitCider · 18/06/2017 17:21

Reading with interest!

TheSeaPriestess · 18/06/2017 18:20

I've had it done 3 times, funnily enough a pic popped up on Timehop today of the last time I had it done which was 2 years ago and by god it looks good! I have quite deep forehead wrinkles and 11's and I look so much better with Botox. The woman I go to is amazing, It's very subtle and so many people tell me I look good after I've had it, with no clue as to why! I am starting to develop marionette lines and crinkly eyelids now so will see if I can get these done next time I go. Currently saving up, can't wait to go again.

Alessi2012 · 20/06/2017 14:00

Since having kids Botox is my best friend 😝 No one realises and it just stops me from frowning not only at the sun but at them! I go to a brilliant Doctor in Ealing.... he never gives me the frozen look! Enjoy it... it's a mums best friend 😝😊 takes a week to kick in.

misscockerspaniel · 20/06/2017 16:15

Does it hurt?

Truckingalong · 20/06/2017 17:51

Nah, not really. Teeny tiny pinprick. Is nothing.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 23/06/2017 19:42

Botox wont work on a downturned mouth according to the clinic i go to. I dislike the natural 'resting' look of my mouth these days, but it would require fillers, and they didn't think mouth was bad enough (!) to have it.

Aridane · 23/06/2017 19:50

Botox won't work on a downturned mouth but fuller will - and the effects are immediate Smile.

I have both boots and fillers. Botox makes me look less tired, and fillers stop the bitch resting face

Aridane · 23/06/2017 19:51

fillers will, not fuller!

FurcoatnoNicks · 23/06/2017 20:05

It doesn't hurt at all. I don't tell anyone as friends and family disapprove hugely.

I've been having it done for 10 years and stopped going to the Harley Street guy who got sloppy. I found a nurse 20 minutes from me who has a very light touch and is amazing! She does a small amount and sees you two weeks later so ascertain if you need more. I'm thinking I may try fillers in a year or so- I'm almost 50 but people say I look younger .

I only have forehead and 11s done. Nobody is touching my laughter lines because they're beautiful.

Personally I think under 35 is too young to start but that's me. I think it's aging on a 25 year old strangely.

Mine starts to settle after a week, then seems odd for a month and then it looks amazing.

Takes lots of Arnica and an ice bag for swelling.

PhoebeBee · 23/06/2017 20:19

So it's almost a week and a half since I had it.

Do you think the full effects are visible by now?

I have to say it felt a little strange and tight for the first 9 days but I feel fine now.

The line between my eyes has gone.

I can still move and raise my eyebrows and the lines across my forehead but I didn't want her to touch them. I don't mind those lines it was just the deep frown between eyes I hated.

No one has noticed, husband hasn't noticed or Mum and both are quite eagle eyed!

Hehe I had secret Botox too! No one guessed (as far as I know)
Will be going for a top up soon though as I still have brow frowns and I'd rather not, thanks lol

user1496002304 · 23/06/2017 21:09

Phoebebee where did you get it done? I'm in Ireland and would really like a decent recommendation. Thanks.

PhoebeBee · 23/06/2017 21:24

I got it done in Moira, Northern Ireland!

Nearly 2 weeks post crow's feet and I am LOVING the results

It's so subtle but the eye wrinkles are gone, I just look like me but fresher

I agree that having it done in your 20s is def too young, but I actually think having it done in my 30s makes more sense than having it done in my 40s, in a weird way

It's totally normal to have wrinkles developing in your 40s - but my crow's feet were like those of someone 10 years older at the age of 35

I'm not trying to look younger - just to look my age!

Pupmum · 14/10/2017 13:19

Haha, I laughed when I read this. The earth mother's would be shocked, may even back away from you and gossip amongst each other...
Your other option is to not tell anyone; instead, keep getting your Botox and anything else done, then, every now and then, ask the more aged-looking among them if they're feeling ok, are they sleeping well (i.e. they look under par LOL), just act concerned while you look fresh hehe...or is that just a bit too evil. If they are nice people then don't, but if they're judgemental earth-mothery types (I know a few) then you can always have a little harmless fun 😉

Newtssuitcase · 14/10/2017 13:26

You absolutely cannot tell when someone has had botox if they have it done well. If they don't have it done well or they overdo it then yes you can tell.

Ive had it for seven years now (started at 37) and as a result I have very few wrinkles formed. I would however say OP that if your practitioner recommends you have it in certain places eg around your eyes then do as they suggest. I have had good botox which lifts my eyes and smooths everything out and makes me look fresh (injected around the eyes and only a bit above the eyebrows) and Ive also had not so good botox where it creates a heavy brow (injections were mainly above the brow to smooth forehead lines).

If you leave only have it a couple of times a year you'll avoid the fake look.

JaneJeffer · 14/10/2017 13:32

So if no one notices or says you look better what's the point of getting it? Of course they notice but don't want to say anything!

megletthesecond · 14/10/2017 13:39

This would be my ideal cosmetic treatment. I'm 43 and have tight 11's between my brows and a constant tense headache. I sleep badly and often have nightmares that mean I wake up frowing. I hate the way it makes me look.

I use frownie patches sometimes but must get into the habit again.

withlotsoflove · 14/10/2017 13:54

If you only have your forehead done - surely ( eventually) your face will appear odd?
Foreheads are supposed to line.
When your neck gives up - the Botox secret will come out anyway.

nigelsbigface · 14/10/2017 13:58

I've been having it every three months for he last year and other than people telling me I look 'well' no one, including my dp has worked out that I've been having it...( he would be very jiffy as he opposed to anything like that and I can't be bothered with the conversation with him or else I'd tell him)mine usually works within three days or so...I love it...subtle difference but makes me feel much better.

OCSockOrphanage · 14/10/2017 14:07

I was told that if done subtly, it would make a face look less cross and that this often did help to make people feel happier in general.

Growingboys · 14/10/2017 14:19

I love Botox. I used to look grumpy when I wasn't, and now I don't.

I only go twice a year and have done since I was 43.

Best money I spend - far better than any clothes. It's amazing. And none of my friends would EVER have me down as a Botox woman!
