I've just had secret Botox! Have told no one! Will I wake up frozen tomorrow?!

Literally am telling no one, just doing this for me, to look less grumpy and haggard.

No change yet! It's only been a few hours though!

Am slightly nervous about what I'll look like tomorrow!

Any advice?

I have an appointment for late July. I don't have wrinkles but I have a miserable looking face. Gonna give it a go and not say anything. If I go a week without someone saying 'cheer up' or 'what are you scowling at' it will be a success and worth every penny. Good luck OP Thanks

EnidButton · 17/06/2017 01:30

Can I be nosy and ask how much everyone pays? I'm starting to feel curious about it. No wrinkles yet but I know I'll get an 11 eventually so would definitely consider it in a few years. Maybe sooner.

fruitbats · 17/06/2017 01:33

The prices that I have seen are about £180 for one area and £250 for two areas, i.e between the eyebrows and crowsfeet.

I had one area treated (between brows) a few years ago and it was £200

moodybluesy · 17/06/2017 02:06

Aw you'll love it. I've been having it for 5 years now. Bloody love it! Made you look so fresh without changing any dynamics of the face (unlike filler! Don't think I'll ever go there)

Agree to making sure you go and see a nurse or a doc!

I pay £200 for 2 areas and a tiny bit in my lip (botox NOT filler)

Love it

EnidButton · 17/06/2017 02:16

Thank you Fruit and Moody. I was thinking it might be around that price. Not too bad.

Realised I missed a bit out, I know I'll probably get an 11 between brows because most of the older women in my family have one to various degrees. I find myself frowning more often now and eventually it'll stick. 🤔

EnidButton · 17/06/2017 02:20

Let us know how it develops OP. Bet people notice you look fresher but won't know why or how.

fruitbats · 17/06/2017 02:27

I have developed a 1 between my brows. A severe one 😳

rizlett · 17/06/2017 03:31

I was at a wedding and a gay pharmacist mentioned that zinc tablets will make the effects last longer. (not tried it myself though)

Leilaniii · 17/06/2017 03:56

Oooh, how exciting OP! You must keep us updated.

I have had Botox since my early 30s. I was the first person I know to have it done. It was for the lines on my forehead and between my brows, line which I have had since my teens.

Now I need Botox to look younger. Has anyone here had it for marionette lines?

Kursk · 17/06/2017 04:06

Liiinoo

I wouldn't say I disapprove, but personally I wouldn't want diluted biological weapon injected into my face.

Browtox · 17/06/2017 07:10

Why did you go on the thread? She's had it done! She's not looking for approval.

Leilaniii · 17/06/2017 07:57

Yeah, do one Kursk.

bananafish81 · 17/06/2017 08:09

@Kursk good. Then you don't have to have it done! Problem solved.

Next!

PhoebeBee · 17/06/2017 08:48

I'm back!

Thanks to everyone who has shared on this thread so far.

So it's day 3 since the Botox. I have to be honest and say since it's the first time I've had it done I've felt a little panicked about what it would look and feel like. There is definitely a slight 'tight' feeling in my brow, I suppose it's what is making it harder to frown.

The nurse asked me what I wanted/didn't want from the treatment and I said I absolutely didn't want it to be obvious I had Botox.

She used very little, not sure how much, but it was £200 for one area.

So at Day 3, I can still frown, raise eyebrows but it is harder to do. My face doesn't look frowning when I'm thinking or doing nothing and I normally look miserable!!

I'm glad I got it done. I do feel a total novice and still unsure as to how exactly I'll look in the 2 weeks when th full effects kick in.

OP posts:
thelikelylass · 17/06/2017 18:17

I had it done for the first time in March (and I have never even had a manicure!) but didn't like the effect, Bit Spocky. I told no one. took about a week to kick in and I didn't like how I looked for about three weeks. I don't believe it when people say no one noticed because a) my friend said to me in a group that I looked different and had I had botox. I told her I had my eyebrows done. b) my mum asked me if I had a sore eye. I had a bit of droop in the right eye and didnt' go back. I like the effect after that time (this was a qualified and experienced medical practitioner)but not sure if I would bother again.

prettywhiteguitar · 17/06/2017 18:39

I think it works best if you have something really wrong Grin like my eyelids are dropping down and I have crinkled eyes

If you don't have much wrong with you it can look strange, like all the young things getting it done as a preventive measure, it looks strange on them

Scrumpernickel · 17/06/2017 18:50

Why aren't you telling your DH?

I always notice when someone gets Botox although I'm too polite to say anything and do a good surprised face if they then let me in on their 'secret'.

StealthNinjaMum · 17/06/2017 19:00

I would love to get it done but am too afraid so will be following this thread with interest.

I have heard that if you get it done it can ruin your face muscles to the extent that when you stop you end up looking worse than you'd never had it. Is this true? Would you just have it done forever? I have the most awful lines between my eyebrows (think they're called 11s) and other than that I look quite young for my age (mid 40s). Would love to get Botox. I don't know anyone in real life to ask this - or perhaps I do but they look so fantastic I can't tell.

Fightthebear · 17/06/2017 19:03

I've had it 3 times and no-one has ever noticed, or commented that I look good/fresh/well, even DH.

In fact the one friend (who has Botox regularly) who I asked for a recommendation didn't even notice.

I'm beginning to think I might want to go a bit more frozen . . .

Fightthebear · 17/06/2017 19:06

I've heard the opposite Stealth (but haven't seen any actual evidence either way) that if you stop you still look better than you would have done because you've delayed wrinkling for a period of time.

I know two people who decided to stop and they look absolutely fine.

bananafish81 · 17/06/2017 19:10

Mine was £300 for one area

That's with a consultant dermatologist, not a nurse or GP (or beautician)

Harley St prices probably also bump it up a bit

Fightthebear · 17/06/2017 19:26

I went to a local dentist: £200 for 1 area and £250 for 2.

Skin clinic: I can't quite remember - but think it was £250 for 1 area and £380 for 2.

Harley Street consultant dermatologist - £600 for 3 areas (eek).

browtox · 17/06/2017 20:25

i have had for a good few years now. you have it less as you use it more
It really makes you realise what a pile of shit face creams are

StealthNinjaMum · 17/06/2017 20:49

That's interesting fightthebear. I'm so tempted to try it.

hollieberrie · 17/06/2017 21:21

Ooh this thread is very informative - i also have a deep 1 in between my brows - i think its been made worse by my eyesight deteriorating and doing a lot of squinting! Have glasses now but the 1 remains Sad
