Eyeshadow that doesn't disappear

Everyoneafter3 · 08/06/2017 21:37

No matter how much eyeshadow I put on, by 10 am it's gone completely. Can anyone recommend me some that will at least last until lunch?! I'm late 30s, combination skin, and don't mind spending a bit.

Mally shadow sticks are great. Put on, blend, 30 seconds later it's set. Lasts all day.

Urban Decay is pretty good Smile

Ollivander84 · 08/06/2017 21:41

Are you using a primer? Urban decay or NYX do good ones

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/06/2017 21:41

Have you tried using primer?

tandt5 · 08/06/2017 21:41

Do you use an eyeshadow primer? Made all the difference for me - l can recommend Urban Decay one.

Everyoneafter3 · 08/06/2017 21:43

Not tried primer, no. Despite having worn makeup daily from the age of 22, I'm only just getting "into" it iyswim. I got a free primer sample with my recent Mac purchase - is that for eyes too?

Oh and thanks - I feel very dense about this sort of stuff.

Not familiar with Mac, usually eye primer is different though.

IAlso, I use Laura Mercier caviar sticks and they stick last really well.

Cultofpersonality · 08/06/2017 21:49

Probably wouldn't use a face primer on your eyes, cause it's designed to do different things.
MAC Painterly paint pot is nice as a primer.

Sammysquiz · 08/06/2017 21:53

Agree with the above - it's the lack of primer that's the issue, not the eyeshadow. The Urban Decay one is brilliant!

Sparkletastic · 08/06/2017 21:55

The Urban Decay eye primer is the one you need. Any shadow stays put if you use a smidge of that baby on your lids.

pomadas87 · 08/06/2017 21:56

Bobbi brown shadow sticks don't budge at all. M&S Autograph cheaper option and excellent staying power too

Whileweareonthesubject · 08/06/2017 21:58

Laura Geller. I always found that eyeshadow had disappeared by mid-morning. Someone recommended LG to me and I love it. I put it on before work and it stays all day - I actually have to remove it at bedtime. here

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/06/2017 22:00

Talking of cheaper ones, the Rimmel Scandaleyes Shadow sticks are lovely too, esp. the bronze and beige.

Botanicbaby · 09/06/2017 00:19

do you use a highly-pigmented eyeshadow as that makes all the difference, also how do you apply them?

MissEliza · 09/06/2017 00:23

Maybelline tattoo eyeshadow. At least I think that's the name. I've had it so long the name's worn off! It lasts alll day but has a limited range of shades.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 09/06/2017 00:34

I have a small NYX pallette that lasts beautifully and I've also recently tried the Revolution brand in Superdrug which does a cheap knock off of Urban Decay's Naked palettes and lasts really well

BusterGonad · 10/06/2017 13:27

I use normal primer around my eyes, then a thin layer of foundation, then face powder on my eyelids before eyeshadow. I have no issues with eyeshadow disappearing or creasing! Grin

Itsnothingoriginal · 10/06/2017 19:21

Yy Maybelline tattoo is brilliant! Shame only comes in 2 colours though. I have the bronze/gold one and wear it most days. Doesn't budge at all!

HorraceTheOtter · 10/06/2017 19:30

I use an eye makeup primer, never had a problem, even with cheap eye shadows.

Bluedabbadee · 10/06/2017 19:32

Urban decay primer is amazing and I will never be without it now. It also makes pigments bolder. Love it.

MonumentsAndMelodies · 10/06/2017 19:45

Can second (third) Maybelline tattoo. Pretty sure they've added new colours recently too. I find it a pain to remove though, and with it being a cream I don't find it very buildable/blendable. Also love Urban Decay eye shadows, they're awesome if you use more than one colour and I find they stay on without a primer (I use foundation on my lids instead of a primer)

stoplickingthetelly · 10/06/2017 20:56

Bobbi Brown cream eyeshadow in the little pot is fantastic. I love the bronze one.

iffikitty · 10/06/2017 23:41

I have to use eye primer, I've discovered that concealer works just as well though.

PNGirl · 10/06/2017 23:44

Eye primer (and don't buy a cheap one as they are useless - Urban Decay or Too Faced Shadow Insurance are great). Any eyeshadow will stay on.
