It's in the pretty dress company work edit. I'm 5'3" and an hour glass shape - currently between size 12 and 10. I'm a jewel winter.

Grateful for your thoughts and also advice on shoes/jackets

I'd wear that for work yes. Not in the red but then red looks crap on me Grin

icelollycraving · 04/06/2017 20:55

Yes with a jacket or something to cover up a little. Not the red though. Very much depends on your industry if that makes sense,

OhTheRoses · 04/06/2017 20:58

It's a lovely drezs but no I wouldn't wear it to work.

Fevertree · 04/06/2017 20:59

Yes I'd wear it to work, and so would my boss

DoubleHelix79 · 04/06/2017 21:00

Totally fine as a work dress I think.

bigchris · 04/06/2017 21:01

Depends where you work, down the city yes on a farm no Grin

Rainatnight · 04/06/2017 21:01

I think it looks a little too evening. But depends on your industry, what you'd wear it with, and what you're signalling with your work clothes.

toffeeboffin · 04/06/2017 21:04

Does depend where you work of course.

But I love it!

Couldn't wear it though as have flabby arms.

BackforGood · 04/06/2017 21:08

It's a lovely dress, but far too OTT for my work.
Only you will know what others wear in your place of work.

AnnieOH1 · 04/06/2017 21:11

Absolutely would wear the red or black for work in corporate law.

DerelictWreck · 04/06/2017 21:13

What is a 'Jewel Winter'?

thatstoast · 04/06/2017 21:41

I thought Jewel Winter was your job but I obviously don't come on the S&B boards that often.

Yika · 04/06/2017 22:15

The shoulders are a wee bit revealing for me and I don't think I would wear it for work, though I think it's a borderline case and many people would feel fine with it. It's a lovely dress!

Etymology23 · 04/06/2017 22:18

I'd wear that to work - city-ish job.

GottonamechangeNow17 · 04/06/2017 22:19

Beautiful dress very similar but less booby in next ATM!!

mnpeasantry · 04/06/2017 22:22

Personally I think it is a bit dated. As a style and shape it's one that suits my shape but there are cooler dresses on the market that would look more professional and smart

BlackadderBells · 04/06/2017 22:45

Thanks for all the thoughts - I should have said that I work for a large financial company.

I'm really keen to find dresses in styles that suit me so need a v-neck or scoop neck. I want to look sharp

If anyone has other suggestions, please share!

@mnpeasantry - please share your ideas

If you're a 34E, I suspect the neckline would be too low for work.

BlackadderBells · 04/06/2017 22:49

@DerelictWreck @thatstoast

Jewel winter is my season of colour s from house of colour - loving the idea of a job called jewel winter!

MercuryMadness · 04/06/2017 23:08

Sorry OP but I think your post is hilarious. You don't tell us where your work (city law firm l? NHS Trust? primary school? Branch of Post Office?) but you do tell us that you are a winter jewel?

Botanicbaby · 04/06/2017 23:15

to be fair to OP, on the style & beauty boards, regulars often give an indication of where they sit on the House of Colour spectrum - it should give a better idea than what type of job they do in terms of what suits them.

Saying that I haven't had my colours done and I am dying to know where I would fall on that spectrum Smile

I think the dress is classic style that would suit an hourglass, however would look more like workwear with a cardigan or jacket as its very figure-hugging.

mnpeasantry · 05/06/2017 06:31

I don't really know what a winter jewel colour palette is but I really like Cos this season for work dresses. Having said that, if you like the dress, go for it. It is a very flattering shape.

BuzzKillington · 05/06/2017 06:43

The Cos dress is a hundred times nicer.

QuestionableMouse · 05/06/2017 06:49

Ugh, I think the cos dress looks like a sack tied in the middle!
