Is this a suitable work dress?

It's in the pretty dress company work edit. I'm 5'3" and an hour glass shape - currently between size 12 and 10. I'm a jewel winter.

Grateful for your thoughts and also advice on shoes/jackets

I don't like the Cos dress, it looks like a sack of spuds!

AintNobodyHereButUsKittens · 05/06/2017 07:15

I like the Cos one. I'd wear the red one for work with a jacket/cardigan because I am very old and dong get my arms out any more.

JennyHolzersGhost · 05/06/2017 07:19

Too low cut.

BigGreenOlives · 05/06/2017 07:21

The Cos dress would be incredibly unflattering on someone 5'3" with an hourglass figure. Have you looked at Hobbs? They are usually good for work clothes.

WindyScales · 05/06/2017 07:25

OP as you have a large bust I dont think the cos one would suit you.
It's more for slender tall ladies with a small bust.
I think the dress you posted is suitable for a formal/corporate environment. It's not always the industry you work in but the particular organisation. I work in a public sector office which is very corporate, not all public sector jobs are. But I would team it with a blazer it cardi.

I had a huge 'im clueless' moment when I saw that cos dress as I would never go for that style as it has no neckline - happy that other posters have helped me feel not so clueless!

I think it's a little low cut/evening for work if your office is very traditional, but if others there wear similar necklines then it's fine.

Owlettecatboy · 05/06/2017 14:41

I think it's lovely and ok for work with a jacket.

Gottonamechange** can you post a link to the next one please?

Floisme · 05/06/2017 15:00

Hmm.. pretty much anything goes where I work but I'm not sure about this one, unless you dressed it down with a waterfall cardigan and slippers. Lovely dress though.

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 05/06/2017 15:04

I think it would work as long as accessorised for daytime. I'd consider maybe smart flats and a quirky necklace, alongside a jacket of some sort. However it's very much on the 'corporate law/finance' spectrum and is quite conservative and a touch dated IMO.

toffeeboffin · 05/06/2017 15:08

Yup, definitely wear it op and knock em dead.

FWIW what kind of job would be a 'jewel winter' be? Prospecting in the snow? Grin
