Can I wear this to a wedding?

Hello I have a family wedding in August and due to being on steroids for my bowel disease I have gained 3 dress sizes and nothing to wear. I am hoping to lose some of this weight but it won't be enough before the wedding.

I found this on eBay in my size and wondered would it be ok? DH said it was fine but just wanted to check, as it's been a while since I went to a wedding. I would wear some pale green kitten heals and a pale green borelo I already own (if I can still squeeze into it)

It's very white... it wouldn't be my first choice...

PurpleDaisies · 04/06/2017 20:21

I think that's a bit too much like a wedding dress personally but it is a pretty dress.

I'm sure you'll get plenty of people saying it's ok.

IrnBruTortie · 04/06/2017 20:21

I think that is fine (and a beautiful dress!), especially with a green bolero (or similar wrap thingy - are they still called Pashminas??? - That I need to ask probably means I shouldn't be on the Style and beauty board, but never mind).
Anyway, beautiful and appropriate dress OP.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 04/06/2017 20:22

It's beautiful but it's essentially white. Don't do it!

Want2beme · 04/06/2017 20:22

It looks lovely. Really pretty.

DorotheaHomeAlone · 04/06/2017 20:22

Looks absolutely lovely. Not at all bridal especially accessorised as you're planning.

Not at all bridal especially accessorised as you're planning.

Two friends have worn very similar dresses to their own weddings.

Yika · 04/06/2017 20:25

I think it's fine and is a lovely dress.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 04/06/2017 20:25

Hmm maybe not then if it's too white, it's so hard to find something! I have some beautiful dresses if only I could be 3 sizes smaller!!

Will have another look and see what else I can find.

I would say it's a bit bridal too. Sorry.

OhTheRoses · 04/06/2017 20:26

No.

MiniAlphaBravo · 04/06/2017 20:26

I think it's fine with the bolero and heels.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 04/06/2017 20:26

I've been the brides dress - it's stunning a big white wedding dress so to speak and the bridesmaids are all in a pale peach/nude colour.

If you wore coloured shoes/jacket, I think it would be fine.

bumblingmum · 04/06/2017 20:28

I think it's fine. If it's traditional church wedding then surely the bride will be obviously bridal?

WowOoo · 04/06/2017 20:30

Can't you pop to some shops and try on something? I think Ebay is too risky as you have no idea what it'll look like on or if it's true to size.

I bought my lovely wedding guest dress for £8 from a charity shop last summer. Keep an eye out - just saying!

I wouldn't wear that colour personally. Hope you find something!

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 04/06/2017 20:30

Maybe this one?

Unfortunately until my stomach is under control I can't be out for more than 30-40 mins. I was hoping to get one now so I have enough time to send back etc

It's beautiful, and nothing like a wedding dress.
Even less so with the green accessories.
Of course you can wear it.
It looks lovely.

Rockaby · 04/06/2017 20:46

I know you've decided not to get this op, by the just wanted to agree with pps that I think this is too white.

No white / skimpy dresses at weddings, is one of the few fashion 'rules' I actually agree with!

Love the darker coloured one.

Voice0fReason · 04/06/2017 20:50

The first one is absolutely lovely and it's nothing like a wedding dress.
Teamed with the accessories you mentioned you will look fabulous.

GoodGirlGoneWrong · 04/06/2017 21:03

I just don't know. Weddings aren't really my thing. Neither is fashion or style.

Personally I wouldn't. But i'm very much in the camp of not wearing white / cream at all. There's so many other colours you could wear, why choose white?
