Sandals that are comfortable without looking frumpy?

I'm in the search for some summer sandals. Wide feet, do a lot of walking. Fancy something that looks pretty, but will be comfortable and maybe have a bit of bounce in the step without being old woman sandals.

Birkenstocks don't suit my feet, can't walk in them.

Love flip flops but they hurt my lower back if I wear them for long.

Fancy something easy to slip on and walk all day if needs be.

I got some nice flat white hush puppies from Schu last year, came in tan as well. Woman says they sell them every year and are known for being comfy.

Have a look on the fitflop website. There is quite a bit of variety and they dont all look like fitflops.

Saltwater sandals! They're the best Grin

tethersend · 02/06/2017 17:43

I've just ordered a pair of these on the recommendation of a friend. I think they're last year's though, everything on the crocs website looks like... well, crocs Grin

PossomInAPearTree · 02/06/2017 17:44

these

I find animal flip flops super comfy. I've just seen someone reccomend sanuk yoga sling ones though, the bottom is made from yoga mat. On my list to try now.

What Birkenstocks have you tried? I love Giza they are the ones with the strap near the ankle and a long piece on top , they also suggest you break them in for 14 days before they are ready to wear. Hotter so some nice ones and so do Reiker

What are the saltwater sandals made from? they say they can be machine washed. The can't be leather can they? they do look nice.

Saw someone in the week wearing a lovely navy pair of sandals. Really would have loved to know where she got them, but she was juggling several children at the time.

I've tried the one bar/strap Birkenstock. I kept walking sideways out of them them, it was really odd. The thing ones make my toes cringe. I think I'll catch my big toenails on the flappy bit.

Aren't hotter for old ladies?

Sea salt have some nice sandals and I'm rather tempted by the new fitfloos as advertised by Uma Thurman

smellylittleorange · 02/06/2017 17:58

I mean fitflops the new ones have a backstrap

shipfaced · 02/06/2017 18:01

I'm a Solillas lady.

loopyloppy · 02/06/2017 18:03

Salt water aren't supportive at all. Not comfy all day as they're flat.

catkind · 02/06/2017 18:19

My last two pairs have been Timberland. Lasted brilliantly, very comfy and still got some style to my untutored eyes at least. Their leather sandals not their hiking type sandals, I don't know if they still do the exact style.

catkind · 02/06/2017 18:19

Also got wide feet.

PacificDogwod · 02/06/2017 18:22

Ecco Freya - I just got these and love them.
Also available with less heel.

CashelGirl · 02/06/2017 18:25

I find the saltwater's very comfy even though they are very flat. They are amazingly durable too. I have a gold pair on their fourth summer and the year still look like new.

MirandaWest · 02/06/2017 18:27

I love my saltwaters. Have walked all round New York in them and found them v comfortable. They seem to mould around your feet.

Crochita · 02/06/2017 18:28

June20 will get you 20% off fitflips even the ones in the sale.

I ordered these three this morning.

I love fitflops they are so comfy!

Paintbox · 02/06/2017 19:05

Saltwater are like walking on bare pavement in my experience, absolutely no cushioning at all, I'm always amazed when people say they are comfortable

CormorantDevouringTime · 02/06/2017 19:06

Tevas are good if you find a style you like.
These ones are quite OK I think. And they have some not unattractive wedges.

And look at Clarks and Merrell. I'm living in a pair of Clarks Orla Keilty sandals from a couple of years ago, which I still love and can walk miles in.

countingdown · 02/06/2017 19:06

I bought my first pair of Saltwater sandals this week and I love them! So comfortable.
