Are expensive blushers worth it?

Friend recommended NARS fervour but its £30! Cant decide whether to go for it as a treat or find a cheaper alternative. Anyone have any views? Thanks

I love NARS blusher. The texture is so worth it imho and also the colours tend to lend themselves to more variety of looks than cheaper alternatives.

I've got a NARS blush palette which has Orgasm etc on it and I don't tend to use any others now.

RockyBird · 21/05/2017 09:40

I bought a NARS orgasm dupe after a recommendation on here. I really like it. I haven't had actual NARS to know how it compares.

If you've got great, smooth, dewy young unblemished skin then you can get away with anything.

Powder blushers for me are the one thing that go patchy if they're cheap. Nars are totally worth it in my opinion. I've used others but always go back to them.

Cream blush you've got a bit of wiggle room with as they are more spreadable by nature and so tend to 'melt' into your skin and meld with foundation more. I use these more than anything and can recommend Mac, Stila and Bobbi Brown. All high end I know, but they last for ages, and blush is one of those things that you don't tend to buy umpteen different shades of, unlike lipstick.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 09:59

If you want to try Nars buy it on ASOS as you can return it if you don't like it, unlike in physical shops.

I own and love Orgasm but have owned several dupes and some of them were just as good. My favourite being Wet nWild in Perlescent Pink (available in ROI).

So no, I don't think they're worth it, really.

Jmangel · 21/05/2017 10:00

Two words
Nars Orgasm

CaitAgusMadra · 21/05/2017 10:04

@ElspethFlashman where do you get WetnWild in ROI

Haven't seen it since on my J1 about 20 years ago!

SapphireSeptember · 21/05/2017 10:05

No, I'm using the L'Oreal blush pallette at the moment and I think it's really good.

Nospringflower · 21/05/2017 10:24

Hmmm at least the NARS Orgasm is cheaper although the Milano one is tempting too! Might try it first and then decide!

It's in Dunnes Cait. In the supermarket.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 10:46

Oh and also larger Penneys.

ElspethFlashman · 21/05/2017 10:47

Actually now I think if it it's in pharmacies too. It's all over the bloody shop!

IAmTheWorwax · 21/05/2017 10:50

I never used to think it made a difference, but then I got a Bobbi brown cream blush and have never looked back.

Fibbertigibbet · 21/05/2017 12:23

Look into Sleek's blushes. Incredibly pigmented, lovely application, and they offer a lovely NARS Orgasm dupe.

HelsinkiLights · 21/05/2017 13:05

The Nars blushes are lovely, highly pigmented & they last for ages.
I have Nars Orgasm but unfortunately I found the Sleek dupe (think it was called Rose Gold) way too light in colour & sparkly to be anything like Nars Orgasm. The Sleek made me look washed out (my skin tone is fair/ivory with yellow undertones.)

I can also recommend Clarins, YSL & Benefit blushes too.
For drugstore/budget blushes I recommend No7, Max Factor, Rimmel & W7.

theclick · 21/05/2017 13:17

I've had both Nars and Milani and they are the same quality IMO.

However Nars multiples are brilliant and there's no real dupe for those that I know of.

Nospringflower · 21/05/2017 13:48

Sorry but what are the NARS multiples - would that be the fervour one where there are two side by side? Thanks.

I use Benefit Dallas, about £24 but it's fab!

JennyHolzersGhost · 21/05/2017 13:59

After a pretty exhaustive cream blusher thread on here a while back I now use NARS The Multiple Matte (not a fan of sparkly blusher!) in Exumas which is a lovely pink-y coral. Lasts forever so v good value in my book.

JennyHolzersGhost · 21/05/2017 14:01

Nospringflower - The Multiple is a cream formulation in a stick. It's supposed to be for lip and cheek but I find it doesn't work as a lip shade. Perfect for blusher though.

I have tried a lot of blushers! I have Nars Orgasm, a Lancôme blusher, a few Estée Lauder ones and various Benefit ones. I bought this cheap blusher palette from Superdrug which I really like. The blushers are very pigmented and last the whole day. Sone of the colours are a bit "samey" but I'd recommend it for the price.

FrustratedFrugal · 21/05/2017 14:23

Nars isn't worth its high price. I actually prefer a Bourjois blusher. I'm pale and Nars shades tend to look garish on me, many other brands have a better shade range.

ihatethecold · 21/05/2017 14:25

I prefer max factor creme blush over Bobbi Brown pot rouge.

Loads cheaper and lasts all day.

CaitAgusMadra · 21/05/2017 14:38

Thanks @ElspethFlashman I clearly need to get out more Blush

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 14:43

Revlon currently have a great cream stick blush. Three colours.

I hate Bourjouis blusher with a passion, it's very compact and the pigment never quite gets from pot to brush, so it's a false economy, because it went in the bin.

Their bronzer however is great.

For powder blush the best is NARS, unless you want to spend a lot of money and buy Surratt, which is fabulous.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/05/2017 14:44

Also, no blusher ever is going to look good unless you use a good brush.
