Wrap dresses - I thought they were supposed to be flattering

I picked up a wrap dress today (it's a plain black Boden one) and think it might do for my smart outing next month. Trouble is I feel as if it accentuates my slightly bulbous midriff area. Am I wearing it wrong? Perhaps it's just the wrong style for me, but I thought they were supposed to be universally flattering

And don't dresses need hand-washing, or shock/ horror DRY-CLEANING??!

And they must take ages longer to iron, surely?

Molesworth · 15/03/2007 11:05

Right trip to debenhams for me then

fishie my dd is similar shape to you so I sympathise with shopping dilemma!

Or perhaps 5-a week dress challenge

My friends would be shocked. I don't even own five!

Hmm - maybe I should go to see a Debenhams personal shopper?

Those halter necks are lovely but I feel they would suit an hourglass shape better?

Although might work with a little wrap cardigan/shrug type deal to hide bingo wingage

Perhaps we should go into group dressophobia therapy mo

I like dresses. I probably have about 10 but half of them are ones that are only suitable for a wedding or fancy night out. Some of them I have not worn for several years. I liked that blue patterned shift dress that anniemac linked to.

bozza · 15/03/2007 11:23

I also liked the Uttam tunic fio linked to.

Mo2 · 15/03/2007 11:24

Are you all in your 20s? I have just turned 40 and these all just seem, well, so girly... can't imagine me carrying them off...
