Is this smart enough to wear to a wedding?

If I dress it up with snazzy heals and accessories? jumpsuit

Wedding is in early July. 5pm-2am in the countryside. Couple are young and gorgeous and bride has great style and I always feel frumpy whenever I'm within 20 feet of her, so I want to get a new outfit for the day, but want to avoid conventional Coast or Monsoon wedding guest type thing.

Failing this (or other jumpsuits) any other suggestions for a stylish but not too trendy outfit? I'm 41, 5ft7, a size 10/12, my style tends to be quite neutral, neat (and comfortable!) basics/ classics like skinny trousers and fine merino sweaters (for work). I rarely get dressed up, so I'm struggling to know where to start. Help!

Silk Fred have some nice patterned ones.

Love that JL one! Am going to a wedding this weekend (am same height and size as you) and wish it was what i was wearing!

LorelaiLeighGilmore · 10/05/2017 17:33

Nude blazer, nude mid heels and you're done!

LorelaiLeighGilmore · 10/05/2017 17:36

Wow. Link fail!

Closetlibrarian · 10/05/2017 17:45

I thought patent nude heels weren't the done thing anymore Confused

I never wear heels of any description, so I fear something like that will cripple me. Is a wedge-type shoe too frumpy?

I bought some rose gold metallic heels recently and they seem like a neutral (oddly) and according to my fashionista sista are 👍🏻

Ginorchoc · 10/05/2017 18:36

Another vote for the JL one!

BumbleNova · 10/05/2017 18:39

another vote for rose gold heels. a good block heel should be nice and comfy. wedges are risky if you are trying to avoid frump.

bojorojo · 10/05/2017 18:47

Russell and Bromley have lovely lower block heels that are feminine. I know they are expensive but other shops will have similar. Look for a heeled pump. I like the JL one too. Try Massimo Dutti for jackets.

Artyfarty555 · 10/05/2017 18:52

Loving the John Lewis one too.

NoCapes · 10/05/2017 18:53

Love the JL one!
Have a look at New Look for shoes, they have lots of lower heels in atm that aren't frumpy and are very reasonable prices

usefultoken · 10/05/2017 18:54

I think the pine one in your last post is perfect

Flyinggeese · 10/05/2017 18:58

OP I really like the last JL jumpsuit. Gorgeous. Navy? Could these be the snazzy heels you're looking for to go with?: www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,37/2448393780

Bluntness100 · 10/05/2017 18:59

John Lewis one totally. It's lovely,

Flyinggeese · 10/05/2017 19:00

Oops sorry just seen not too high. These would work. www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/2,37/2552791746

Bluntness100 · 10/05/2017 19:01

Nude shoes, I'd do open toed sandals, and I'd find either a nude cropped blazer cardigan or a nude wrap.

Teardropexplodes · 10/05/2017 19:16

John Lewis one with open toe sandals.

Teardropexplodes · 10/05/2017 19:16

Oh, and a boxy little clutch.

HelenaJustina · 10/05/2017 19:31

New Look a good idea, not expensive if you're unlikely to re-wear

BossyBitch · 10/05/2017 19:35

Yes to the JL one. Plus a nice pair of sandals (with a bit of a heel) and a necklace (not too chunky but noticeable).

SilentlyScreamingAgain · 10/05/2017 19:47

Not wearing black at weddings went the same way as virgin brides, there might be an elderly uncle at the back who thinks it's bad form and mumbles about it when he gets home but no on else will be bothered.

I think the first jumpsuit is worth ordering, Uniqulo always looks better on and you can send it back if it isn't right.

Love the John Lewis jumpsuit op.
I bought these recently for a special party - they were amazingly comfortable and I thought that they would be pretty versatile .
Also liked the block heel I noticed that a lot of the glamorous younger guests were in this style rather than stilettos - much easier to wear too!
