Affordable perfumes?

FedglingFTB · 29/04/2017 09:42

I seem to always go for pricey scents Blush Which means I can only buy one bottle and have to wear it constantly

I loved when Marc Jacobs did the large Splash eau de toilette bottles, something a bit different and great value.

My last two scents were: Balenciaga Paris eau de parfum and philosykos by diptyque.

Any recommendations for some interesting affordable perfumes/toilettes please?

My fave everyday perfume is Lovely by SJP. I normally loathe celeb scents but this one is genuinely lovely, very light and not overpowering and lasts really well. I think I paid around £20 for the last bottle - I then buy something a bit more scented for nights out. My other favourite is Dior Addict 2 - it's a very sharp floral that smells divine, but slightly more pricey at around £40 a bottle.

For evenings, I adore Black Opium, Flowerbomb, Balengia Florabotanica, and Modern Muse. I try and just have 2 bottles on the go so I use them all that way.

FedglingFTB · 29/04/2017 09:56

Oooh like the sound of the citrus and woody notes of SJP, slightly hesitant at the silky/powdery description. I'll have to get a tester in town, thanks Jane

New look do a perfume that smells exactly like Coco Mademoiselle. Some of the marks and Spencer ones are nice too.

Ellapaella · 29/04/2017 10:03

I love SJP too, it's my day to day perfume. I keep the expensive stuff for nights out and occasions. M &a S do a great range of dupes, they have one that used to be called 'Isis' which is an exact dupe for Issey Miyake but they have changed its name, not sure what it's called now. And this may not help but Superdrug have 20% off all fragrances today.

Calvin Klein eternity moment (the liquid is more pink than normal eternity)... I am forever getting it on offer for about £20 for 100ml.

There's a website called allbeauty I think (it used to be cheapsmells.com but it changed when they started selling make up I think)... they do fantastic prices, as do very when they have sales.

FiveShelties · 29/04/2017 10:08

The M & S Isis is now Aqua. It is one of my favourites from M & S, really good value, around £15 per 100ml I think.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 29/04/2017 10:14

Wondered when they would change the name!
Have a look at the fragrance shop-if you do like Lovely they have a gift set for about£20 this weekend.
Some of the Next ones are good, and they do little purse size for about £4. They also do single scents for layering-they have a set for £20-you could make your own custom scents.

FatGirlWithChocolate · 29/04/2017 10:14

I'm currently wearing "Summer Sun" by Next, which is a dupe for Bronze Goddess by Estee Lauder..£12 for 100ml E de P and a tube of shower gel to match. Lovely and summery.

Zara do lovely perfumes

Maudlinmaud · 29/04/2017 10:25

My favourite cheapie at the moment is Serpentine by Roberto Cavalli, I took a chance and ordered it before smelling as I like many of Cavallis fragrances. It's really nice and people have asked me what I'm wearing. It was £20 for 100ml of edp so quite a bargain.

Niminy · 29/04/2017 10:34

Library of Fragrance from Boots are £25 a bottle, and a huge range to choose from. They can also be layered.

Ollivander84 · 29/04/2017 10:48

4160 Tuesday's
Al rehab (search on Amazon, soft is a lovely vanilla musk)
Clean range
Monotheme book of citruses (at m&s)

KoalaDownUnder · 29/04/2017 10:49

Seconding SJP Lovely and also Florabotanica.

Cassimin · 29/04/2017 10:50

Just coming on to agree that the Zara perfumes are lovely. The aftershaves are too

CointreauVersial · 29/04/2017 11:33

Look out for a lovely blog called IScentYouADay. She reviews all sorts of inexpensive fragrances - here, for example - Fragrance for the Frugal 2017

FedglingFTB · 29/04/2017 12:52

M&S is a good shout, wouldn't have thought of that. Zara too, but I'm no wher near one.

I've tried the library stuff Nim love the idea, hate the scents individually and can't layer to save my life Grinapparently.

Also can't stand vanilla, did I mention I'm fussy Hmm although Yardley April Violets as recommended in that blog does sound interesting

The book of citrus ones I mentioned are good if you like lemon/bergamot type
Clean are often in TK maxx and lots of different ones like these http://www.hogiesonline.co.uk/fragrances/clean-the-best-of-summer-ladies-coffret-gift-set/?utmmedium=googleshopping&utmsource=bc&gclid=CIj7oMfNydMCFW4A0wod8IgK7A

If you're going to marks try some of the Fragonard perfumes. The verveine is my favourite ever perfume and £25. I like loads of them though.

Bleurghghghgh · 29/04/2017 14:16

Have a look at Eden perfumes. I'm in Brighton and they have a shop here but they have an online shop too. They do copies of designer perfumes as well as their own and they're all in plain bottles. Really really good and only £15 a bottle

Bleurghghghgh · 29/04/2017 14:17

Lidl do a very good copy of Chanel no. 5 and Coco Mademoiselle. Don't know what they are called though, bought both last year, they are good for using copiously for day time/work.

spankhurst · 29/04/2017 14:30

Jade by Yardley smells almost exactly like Chanel Cristalle to me. Several people have complimented me on it, I bought it after a recommendation on here!

WeeM · 06/05/2017 20:53

Just bought Summer Sun from Next today thanks to this thread and I'm delighted! It's fab!

OlennasWimple · 06/05/2017 21:33

I think the Lidl one is called something like Madame Glamour, but I agree does smell pretty close to Chanel Mademoiselle - it just doesn't last as long on me (But it's £4, so can be applied liberally!)

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 06/05/2017 22:11

Perfume Parlour do dupes of almost everything.
I was in Zara the other day and didn't like any of theirs tbh, very sweet and floral but I guess that's the Zara demographic tastes.
