So, the new jeans shape - baggy/ frayed ends - does it work on your body type?

I ve tried But I can't get out of my skinnies !
I love straight leg too.
But this wide leg frayed ends - ---- it s terrible on me ! So are 'boyfriend' jeans-
I m a size 10, pear shaped. Have tried it with various sweaters shirts tops and am going to give this trend a skip! Not the end of the world really but just wanted a moan.

This is one trend I think looks awful, in most people and I love fashion...but this is a no from me.....

I think all trends at the moment are awful. I wont be buying any of it:

Bardot style - no
Frilly - no
lacy - no
flares - no
trashed - no

Can someone show me? I am a fashion dunce old duffer so I haven't seen what you are describing.

Although I don't know why I care because it's a fairly safe bet that I will be unable to wear them.

Think baggy legs and frayed uneven ends and you ll have it.
I agree lots of trends at the moment are just not a style I can slot into. I don't mind - I m happy to follow my own style - but when stores are full of the mojority styles it s a pain in the bum.
Ditto to wide culottes - did them for my confirmation - not going there again

I have the cropped flared/bootcut ones with frayed ends and I like them. They look nice casual with converse and are more flattering than skinnies because the flare balances out the thigh and the cropped bit shoes off slim ankles. I am a short apple and have been complemented on them loads.

I have some Gap, wide legged cropped with frayed hems, And, I have something very similar in khaki from Next, that just skim the ankle.

They flatter me because 'm quite tall (5ft 7") I don't have hips (or much of a waist), and I'm just straight up and down from armpits to knees...

See ma queen I think that s it when you re straight up me down it does look good, because it looks loose and floaty or casual and cool, whereas on a slightly pear shape I think it just doesn't look right.
I find that the midi length of stuff at the moment just doesn't flatter my shape - I m talk enough to carry of lots of styles but I really dislike this look on me.

I'm not keen on the length, but the frayed hems remind me of happy times pulling threads off the bottoms of my (home-produced) denim cut-off shorts in the 90s!

I agree, they really don't suit a curvy shape. They look best on a tall, tom-boy shape.

I bought a pair from Next, and they look lovely on (and there isn't much that I would claim looked nice on me)..the waist is cut very nicely and is very flattering.

No. I'm the height of a child and they just make me look shorter.

From my observations I agree with previous posters. They suit tall and slim people. Quelle surprise. Is there a fashion that doesn't?

They're ghastly on me even though I'm very slim - think it's all about height. Skinnies are the only jeans that work on me, really, it's so annoying.

Ah yes, I looked at those in the shop but ended up getting them in khaki. They are flattering, but I do think you have to be quite tall.

I'm off to buy the khaki pair today.

Oh, I like those! Nicely shaped on the waist and not too cropped. I love wide legs - I've got round hips and the wide leg falls over rather than emphasising the shape, so although I'm short-ish wide legs are one of the most flattering trouser shapes for me. (Skinnies on the other hand never worked.)

If you are in your mid 30s or older you'll remember how weird we thought skinny jeans were when they took over from bootcuts in 2000-and-something.

We definitely thought they were unflattering.

Trills you are so right. I was watching an old Trinny and Susannah on YouTube the other day (very bored obvs) and smiling at how ugly they thought skinny jeans and ankle-length slim trousers were - in comparison to universally flattering bootcuts. It must have been made just before skinnies came in and my, how it has dated. We may think things like skinny jeans are beyond fashion but they are really not.

I hate skinny jeans and I"m not going to be wearing this style either, I like bootcut or straight leg jeans and can't be swayed from them, whatever "fashion" dictates. I used to be straight up and down with wider shoulders than anything else, but now my belly is winning the width competition (apple shape). I just like to be comfortable, can't be doing with trying to keep up with the trends (or the young'uns!)

Me too sway, I know people like to sneer at bootcuts but I think it's important to wear the shape that suits you, not the shape that you feel you should wear. Skinnies look loathsome on me. I'd love to wear them but I have just had to accept that I cannot.

Christ they'd look awful on me, I'm too short and would just look stumpy, also have small feet which would become hooves under there.
I like skinnies/boyfriends/straight legs, Bootcuts manage to ma,e my size 8 thighs look huge.
