Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5 Thread 6

I am very slowly working on consolidating the gathered information from previous threads into easier to read formats but it’s slow going. In order to make use of the below form and join in I would suggest reading thread 1 and at the very least the following info sheets (provided they apply to you):

Basics of an Actives Routine

Where to Start

Anti-Ageing Info sheet

Adult Acne Info Sheet

For those who are taking a peek and wondering what this all about, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients (rather than the latest new shiny product and all its empty promises) for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one and the linked docs) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us . Please note, the form is not here to generate a routine for you, sometimes it involves product recommendations but mostly it's there so we can answer a specific question without having to go back and forth endlessly. Also, not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

Any dietary/health concerns/pregnant:

What I'm willing to spend on a single skincare item: eg. >£10, £10-20, £20-50, £50-100, no limits.

I specifically [want help with/am looking for a product to/am curious about trying]:

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

The pump bottle from deciem

It's on offer from boots... damn it Enid!

Tsmummy08 · 15/05/2017 13:30

Yongnian I've been using Dr Jart Ceremidin cream for a month or so, both morning and night - I'm dry and it's working great for me.

yongnian · 15/05/2017 14:49

Hmm now, I was eyeing up the Dr J Ceramidin some time ago, so that's interesting to hear tsmummy, thanks.
Will also be interested in hearing your reviews of TO colour, might get some next time I order from them (soon). frantically trying to use up Sephora TM in order to justify

yongnian · 15/05/2017 14:50

I mean the reviews of those ordering the TO colour!

userallusedup · 15/05/2017 18:43

I've got cicaplast hand cream on it's way but now tempted with hand chemistry especially with the offer Blush

yongnian I ordered TO coverage foundation from Victoria health ages ago, no sign of it being despatched yet. I can't remember who else ordered (think it might have been Pupsie?) but hopefully theirs will turn up sooner.

applepineapple · 15/05/2017 19:28

user I saw on Caroline Hirons Instagram earlier that The Ordinary have a wait list of 90,000 for their foundations! Confused

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 19:30

My postman didn't come today Angry but I've had an email saying my coverage one has been dispatched

eversions · 15/05/2017 21:08

Talking about foundations, does anyone know of any other non-mineral foundations that are silicone free apart from Makeup Forever Water Blend? I tried a sample and I quite liked it (although the coverage is so sheer).

Avoiding silicones is tricky Grin

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 21:12

Is mac waterweight? Maybe... I know it's a water based one

Pupsiecola · 15/05/2017 22:06

Yong yes I have used Eucerin. Not bought it for a while. I'm really liking the Body Shop's Aloe Vera night cream for this time of year. It has blooming mineral oil in it though which I find very surprising! Not sure I can repurchase now I know that.

I've not ordered TO foundation (can't remember who asked).

Thanks Tree. I think I'll stick with TO Vit C for now.

EnidButton · 15/05/2017 23:24

I think EH balm is giving me spots. I stopped using it as much and got less. Back to using it every day for past week and have done awful bright red spots. Right in the centre of my face too which is where I use it most,

Can the LRP tol cleanser really be used to remove make up? Is that what you use Olli?

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 23:34

Yep - if I was wearing long wear heavy foundation I might do it twice or break out a balm (Clinique take the day off works on me)
I use a fair bit of the LRP, massage it in for at least 60 seconds (thanks to dr SB!) and then remove with flannel and water

EnidButton · 15/05/2017 23:38

TtDO definitely breaks me out so I'll try double cleansing with the LRP tomorrow, thank you!

Heaps of cicaplast on tonight. 😒 I'm never saying I don't have any spots out loud or on here again; I swear, everytime I do I get beasts the next day. On my top lip of all places. Hmm

Whilst I'm here, what's a really good concealer for spots and red blemishes? I was used the Amazing Cosmetics one which is a good colour and pigmented but doesn't last quite long enough.

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 23:39

I'm using sensual skin enhancer but it's on the pricey side! Best looking for a solid concealer for spots, a pot type one as opposed to a liquid. Tends to conceal better

EnidButton · 15/05/2017 23:41

Good tip thank you. I have a Mac one in a pot..... it's studio sculpt. Or I've a bit of a Bobbi brown stick left. I'll try them out.

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 23:44

I use a really fine brush, dab on then blend just the edges. Usually works fairly well!
My skin looks incredible, it's ridiculous BlushGrin no idea what is working best but I dare not change anything!

EnidButton · 15/05/2017 23:48

Thank you. I'm Envy at your skin. I look like I've been out partying hard for a week.

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 23:52

It's so bizarre, I think the main reason is changing cleanser. But no spots, nothing. I'm not convinced by the vit C yet but going to finish the tube and see. I like the texture and smell

VictoriaandBump · 16/05/2017 07:30

That's great that your skin is looking fab Olli, especially since you're recovering from major surgery! I looked like shite for a week after I had a general anaesthetic. I might try the LRP dermo cleanser that gets so much love on here, once my Avene cleanser runs out. Do you find you need a flannel to remove or does it come off easily with just splashing water on your face?

For anyone looking for a night cream rec, I really rate Cerave Pm which I buy on amazon. About £12 for 90 ml. Its lightweight but hydrating and it contains niacinamide, hyalauronic acid and ceramides

yongnian · 16/05/2017 10:09

Hmm Cerave you say victoria have also heard good things about that...noted...have just started using the LRP derm cleanser, really like it. I use it am but could see it would be effective as a pm cleanser...I like to sweep mine off with a flat cotton pad soaked in rose water, having sprayed the skin first with thermal water spray, which gives it good 'slip' it gets a satisfying amount of visible grunge off onto the pad even though I even double cleansed the night before
pupsie hmm yeah, min oil would rule that out for me too...
olli enjoy your skin, how are you feeling otherwise?

GuyMartinsSideburns · 16/05/2017 10:34

Hi all, been meaning to get back in here but haven't had the time. The ordinary stuff arrived and I've been using it when I remember Blush I think I need to print out what to use when and stick in on my bathroom cabinet!

Had a quick question re. a decent spf. I've been using one from the body shop - the skin defense multi protection essence. Is this adequate or should I bin? Just wanted to be sure it was enough. Thanks v much

Ollivander84 · 16/05/2017 11:00

Yeah the LRP would rinse off easily
Um, v v sore!

Ollivander84 · 16/05/2017 12:27

Guess who has the coverage TO foundation in their paws?!?

olderthanyouthink · 16/05/2017 13:25

Grin Olli, how fast were you when you heard the postman?

Ollivander84 · 16/05/2017 13:26

Well I hobbled fairly fast and then slapped it on my face? GrinGrin
