Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5 Thread 6

I am very slowly working on consolidating the gathered information from previous threads into easier to read formats but it’s slow going. In order to make use of the below form and join in I would suggest reading thread 1 and at the very least the following info sheets (provided they apply to you):

Basics of an Actives Routine

Where to Start

Anti-Ageing Info sheet

Adult Acne Info Sheet

For those who are taking a peek and wondering what this all about, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients (rather than the latest new shiny product and all its empty promises) for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one and the linked docs) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us . Please note, the form is not here to generate a routine for you, sometimes it involves product recommendations but mostly it's there so we can answer a specific question without having to go back and forth endlessly. Also, not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

What I'm willing to spend on a single skincare item: eg. >£10, £10-20, £20-50, £50-100, no limits.

I specifically [want help with/am looking for a product to/am curious about trying]:

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

Enid yeah he's good, people fly in from all over the world for him and you have to wait a while for an appointment, and he's kinda expensive (my friends get their hair cut for >£20 and I pay 4 times that).

I want to colour my hair (balayage) but that's nerve racking and expensive. I've seen "models wanted" for some high end/celeb salons and I'm half tempted...

EnidButton · 13/05/2017 21:12

I might try and find a decent salon in Manchester. I think all the good stylists go to the cities after a couple of years. Or at least they'll be easier to find.

bo Your post made me laugh. "Shit eye" being installed in the gallery Grin I'm going to have a try with some waves as my natural ones have been cut off.

Olli Hope you've got your feet up and you're watching something trashy like Eurovision. Grin

I curse all bad, scissor happy, layer loving, thick hair hating, choppy, hairdressers with a severe case of Shit Eye.

Ollivander84 · 13/05/2017 21:18

Currently in bed being watched over by the cat. This seems to involve a lot of kneading my feet and licking my face Hmm

EnidButton · 13/05/2017 21:32

Aw!

Ollivander84 · 14/05/2017 00:19

Considering it's been period week, a 4hr GA and a stay in hospital I look rather bright Confused
Not a spot in sight, I am so so pleased with my routine now. Just the red marks from the spots to go but I'm about 3-4 weeks in to my vit C so that should help

JDSTER · 14/05/2017 10:01

olli fancy sharing exactly what your routine entails now?

Pupsiecola · 14/05/2017 10:24

Just catching up again. Someone (Olli?) posted a link to where to buy AB stuff. I had a quick look at the time and saw some mini mask things to go between one's lip and nose. Now I can't find the link again. I've searched this thread but can't see it - it was in the last week I think. Ring any bells?

applepineapple · 14/05/2017 11:17

Sorry Pupsie, wrong link! These: www.kawaiipanda.co.uk/Tony-Moly-Smile-Patch-x-1-Upper-Lip-Wrinkle-Mask-p72234223

ohgoonthenjustonemore · 14/05/2017 13:00

Thank you for the flowers, sympathy and space on the pout couch, it is very much appreciated Grin !

Ollivander84 · 14/05/2017 13:05

JDSTER

Am - boots botanics lotion cleanse, Melano vit c, Avene hydrance moisturisers

PM - LRP dermo cleanser and boots eye makeup remover then either
a) 1% retinol from TO, face theory moisturiser
b) niaci/HA, azealic acid, face theory moisturiser

JDSTER · 14/05/2017 13:24

Looks good olli glad it's working well for you.

Pupsiecola · 14/05/2017 16:51

That's it apple. Thank you.

A new thread title contender came to be whilst I was out walking:-

Fantastic Skincare: The Snail's The Limit (Or Perhaps Not)

Treeballarae · 14/05/2017 19:42

Lordwont you asked about night creams, I've not used it myself but the Face Theory night creams get mentioned on here a lot and since you like the cleanser you could have a look at them. Others who have actually used will be along soon I'm sure.

Mintmagnum were you using the Face Theory night cream? Re your concealer for spots, I use Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer for spots, it's thick and waxy so it tends to stay where I put it and I apply it with a fine brush.

Userallusedup thank you for the Tarte and IT Cosmetics recs, they are on my list!

Pupsie the Indeed Labs Vit C serum, the first ingredient is dimethicone so approach with caution if you don't get on with silicones and fire ahead if you tolerate them!

Olli oh that's really cute of your cat, he/she must have missed you while you were in hospital and can probably sense that something is up.

Botemp so sorry to hear that your haircut triggered upsetting memories. I'm glad that you've managed to style it so it's not such a reminder. Happy to email you my notes, I can scan them on at my work later on this week, so yes, PM me your email address if that's still okay.

I've experienced the bad haircut, last November - too short, I could barely get it into a ponytail and I'd asked for it to be cut to my shoulders, I need to get it cut again soon but I'm procrastinating. I also had passport photos done this week for updating my provisional driving licence and I got to see my skin in full "mugshot" glory. And that was with make up on. So I think I need to step up on the skincare, and makeup especially around my eyes, which make me look permanently sad and tired.

EnidButton · 14/05/2017 22:13

I posted about my dry cuticles a few weeks back and have been using the Hand Chemistry hand cream since then and it's done the trick. No more dry cuticles! It has a lasting effect too, unlike the Burts Bees balm, so they're still ok after hand washing. It is on the pricey side for a hand cream but I think it's on offer quite often and I could just use it on my cuticles each night if I want to eke it out a bit.

Anyway it's made it to my 'forever repurchasing list', which doesn't happen very often.

olderthanyouthink · 14/05/2017 22:36

Fgs enid now I'm going to end up with another hand cream. the pump bottle would be perfect to replace the shit one running out on my desk perhaps I'll get a little one to try out.

EnidButton · 14/05/2017 23:25

Oooh, I hadn't seen the pump bottle!

mintmagnummm · 15/05/2017 06:31

Tree yes I use face theory and still really like it.** Thank u for the concealer rec I'll have a look at that one.

Enid I need this hand cream in my life!! Can u link it please? Also where can I buy the pump bottle??

olderthanyouthink · 15/05/2017 09:33

If something it's causing little spots and I stop using that product, how long till the spots go?

Shop · 15/05/2017 09:56

I was loving the Facetheory night cream, total holy grail status but the second one that came feels totally different 😢 I've no idea what (if anything) has changed but now it pills really really badly. I've not changed anything else and it worked fine over my serum before but even on its own I look like a snake shedding its skin the next day.
Not sure what to try next, I wish the toleriane fluid wasn't discontinued as I'd use that with oil at night

yongnian · 15/05/2017 10:20

Hmmm I am going to be in the market for a new night cream soon, so stalking these posts...
pupsie were you using a eucerin night cream at some point...or have I made that up...?? Love 'snail's the limit' btw!!!
I am in mid-throes of a cheek spot which I know will scar...pre-emptive strikes with LRP effaclar, vit c and making sure it never sees sunlight....

CardinalCat · 15/05/2017 11:49

Has anybody received their TO foundation yet? I am SO DARN IMPATIENT.

Ollivander84 · 15/05/2017 12:17

Mine is actually due to arrive. Probably with the postman today < grabby hands >

EnidButton · 15/05/2017 12:40

mint www.boots.com/the-chemistry-hand-chemistry-100ml-10164352 Not sure where the pump bottle is from.

mintmagnummm · 15/05/2017 13:02

Thanks Enid Grin
