Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5 Thread 6

I am very slowly working on consolidating the gathered information from previous threads into easier to read formats but it’s slow going. In order to make use of the below form and join in I would suggest reading thread 1 and at the very least the following info sheets (provided they apply to you):

Basics of an Actives Routine

Where to Start

Anti-Ageing Info sheet

Adult Acne Info Sheet

For those who are taking a peek and wondering what this all about, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients (rather than the latest new shiny product and all its empty promises) for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one and the linked docs) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us . Please note, the form is not here to generate a routine for you, sometimes it involves product recommendations but mostly it's there so we can answer a specific question without having to go back and forth endlessly. Also, not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

I specifically [want help with/am looking for a product to/am curious about trying]:

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

I think eBay is usually the cheapest but can take a while

JDSTER · 07/05/2017 22:40

Thanks olli ordered on eBay

Ollivander84 · 07/05/2017 22:44

Gentle reminder not to rely on SPF in moisturiser. Because if you're me, you will get distracted talking to the neighbours outside and SPF 20 is not enough Blush
I'm not burnt but I look slightly less blue than normal

botemp · 07/05/2017 23:09

Olli Shock Speaking of blue... this popped up in my feed after posting the SS but since there's been talk of it recently thought it was best to post it now as a late addition rather than leave it till next week: NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum 5% review. Wondering which percentage you use(d) Nabootique and JDSTER? I know Aurora used the 1% and was left unimpressed.

Don't worry, I am in no way red! But it was a reminder I need to consistently use SPF even when I think I'm not going outside

mintmagnummm · 08/05/2017 06:34

JDSTER I'm not using lrp spf anymore I was having problems with it! I'm now using eucerin spf 50.

mintmagnummm · 08/05/2017 07:46

Can anyone recommend a hand cream to me please?.....the tips of my fingers are so dry and cracked it literally feels like I'm exfoliating my face just by rubbing in my products! I usually use tbs hemp or palmers Shea butter but this doesn't seem to help with the tips of fingers Hmm. I also massage burts bees cuticle butter into nails too which helps for about 5 minutes!

JDSTER · 08/05/2017 07:48

I used1% CAIS then the 5% sucker
I didn't notice any perceptible change to my skin on either unfortunately.

purple15 · 08/05/2017 08:14

mintmagnummm
What is the Eurcerin spf 50 like
At the moment I'm using the Biore aqua rich but I believe the formular changed. I think it would be easier just buying in store rather than waiting from China .

purple15 · 08/05/2017 09:17

Sorry meant to say
JapanSmile

Nabootique · 08/05/2017 09:53

pupsie Sorry for the delay. I use the copper peptide serum twice a day, every day. I'd recommend getting the 15ml to start with to see how you get on. I've found that's just about the right amount for a month of use.

mintmagnummm · 08/05/2017 11:45

Purple it's quite nice actually, I was worried because my skin is very reactive and usually spf really stings my face but there's no irritation from this one at all and it rubs in well, u need to give it 5 mins to settle though but I just get dressed etc then it's ready for make up on top.

mintmagnummm · 08/05/2017 11:45

It's the one that says mattifying on box (although it's not the dry touch kind of Matt if you get what I mean)

olderthanyouthink · 08/05/2017 13:37

Mint these seem to be helping my old hag hands.

I use the body version of the Aveno when I'm home too.

bo I'm in hospital today, lumpy boobs, and I put down my religion as Jedi. My dad does the same. Grin

purple15 · 08/05/2017 13:49

mintmagnum
Thanks I might try it

JDSTER · 08/05/2017 14:04

older- hospital? Lumpy boobs? You ok? Flowers
(Grin at Jedi religion)

olderthanyouthink · 08/05/2017 14:32

JDSTER I found lumps in my boobs over the last few months so I'm getting them checked. Dr said they are fibroadenoma and fine, but I'm waiting for a ultrasound now.

As long as there are no needles I'll be fine. Btw no fucking way am I have stuff injected into my face.

If enough people say they are Jedi apparently it has to be recognised as a "proper" religion.

EnidButton · 08/05/2017 14:36

I meant to get some of that cicaplast hands, completely forgot.

I've bought some biotin to help hair growth. Cheap so worth a whirl I thought. Supposed to be good for skin too.

Period started heavily today which explains the anxiety and slight over reaction. 🙄 On the plus side, no hormonal spots! Shock Few marks from ones last month but nothing new. First time in years I think.

EnidButton · 08/05/2017 14:36

Hope it all goes well Older Cake

BunnyBunnyMooseMoose · 08/05/2017 15:31

Uh oh. Help.
After lurking on these threads for a while I realized that my life seriously lacks some salycilic acid peel. I bought the 15% one from sr skincare, last night smothered my face in it and then promptly forgot about it. So far I can't see anything but should I expect my face to fall off soon? Blush

BunnyBunnyMooseMoose · 08/05/2017 15:32

(Really sorry if it's not the right thread to post on - I didn't want to start a new one and you lot seem to know your stuff)

olderthanyouthink · 08/05/2017 15:43

Boob lumps are cysts and fibroadenoma.

No needles because I'm under 25 YAAAAY!!!!!

As long as fibroadenoma doesn't get bigger they can be left. And cysts should in theory drain on their own.

Thanks enid & JDSTER

RubyGoat · 08/05/2017 15:54

Enid - I'd be careful with biotin as an isolated supplement. A lot of posters on LongHairCommunity.com report acne as a side effect when high doses are taken. Some seem to manage fine with it though. I take a fairly hefty dose of B-complex, it has only 200% rda biotin in, compared to a lot more of some of the other B vits... no idea if it would help with hair though as mine is a lost cause Grin There are other things that can help the hair if that's the route you want to go down. Number one advice - avoid raw egg white as it binds biotin in the body. I'll try to find a link later (I'm at work).

Ollivander84 · 08/05/2017 16:13

I was taking a ZMA supplement for sleep. My sleep was amazing but my skin was shocking. Anyway I googled casually to find CH talking about her skin and how she can't take B6. Looked on ZMA tub. About 1000% of your RDA of B6. Oops! Turns out I can take B12 but not B6!
