After quite a thick one (but still t-shirt rather than jumper style), loose rather than figure hugging with full length sleeves.

I've got a lovely one from People Tree - really nice quality and a good boxy shape.

Soggywellies · 17/04/2017 09:08

Try Joules...they may all have three-quarter-length sleeves at this time of year but they usually have some full length ones and last well. I always buy a size up and wash at 30 though as they are prone to a bit of shrinkage!

FunkinEll · 17/04/2017 09:11

Cos had some that fit that bill a few weeks ago. Nice thick material and loose fitting. I only saw white/ black but they probably have different colours. Think it was around £35.

Wreckingball25 · 17/04/2017 09:13

Another vote for joules Smile

FunkinEll · 17/04/2017 09:14

I think it was this one which comes in black or blue.

They have a 3/4 sleeved one too with more of a boat neck line but the one ^^ is the one I saw in store:

DressageNut · 17/04/2017 09:16

Armor Lux are great quality and nice substantial material. I have two and they have lasted really well.

BestIsWest · 17/04/2017 09:16

Mine have come from Seasalt this year. Joules were too thick for me and Bidens had an odd shape around the shoulders (that could be me).

BestIsWest · 17/04/2017 09:17

But if you want a thick one then Joules (Sorry missed that in your OP). And Boden not Biden obv.

I have a wardrobe full of Bretons and this is the best one I've tried. Really nice fit and high-quality fabric.
Petit Bateau and Joules are also good but the material is quite stiff, whereas these are stretchy but still loose-fitting.
I find Boden ones very thin so would avoid those.

piefacedClique · 17/04/2017 09:26

I live in Joules, Seasalt, boden.
I love this one but annoyed it's large is a 12! It's available on uk sites somewhere too

PNGirl · 17/04/2017 09:42

Joules for me too. Especially in their outlet stores where they're 16 quid.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 17/04/2017 10:04

Other stories ones are meant to be good. Described as a sweater but they're def tops

Uniqlo ones are heavy weight and recommended. I wanted the red stripe one but they're OOS online at the mo but still have 3 other colours and are a good price considering the good quality of them.

BounceBounceSplishSplash · 17/04/2017 10:05

Agree that Boden ones are v thin.

NewPantsforaNewYear · 17/04/2017 10:06

The Lands End ones are good quality. I'm tempted by this dip dye one.

I also noticed that TK Maxx had some Jaeger ones in the window but I didn't go in to look at them.

SingingGoldfinch · 17/04/2017 10:08

I have a huge selection of Bretons and think the Seasalt ones are my faves. Really lovely organic cotton, good shape, fab colours and usually a choice of full length or 3/4 length sleeves. Joules ones tend to be thicker and Boden thinner.

Wetcappuccino · 17/04/2017 10:09

I got a lovely red/ cream Breton from La Redoute recently. Fantastic thick cotton.

Methenyouplus4 · 17/04/2017 10:31

Wow, thank you all. Lots to choose from. Thinking I might try Seasalt and joules (local-ish stores) and then have a look at the online recommendations to see if any have free delivery/returns.

Forgot to say I'm 5ft 8 so want one that is reasonably long in the body.

missmartha · 17/04/2017 10:32

I love the Joules Bretons. Nice fabric too.

BestIsWest · 17/04/2017 11:11

I'm a longbodied 5'10 and the Seasalt is just about ok on me. They had a 2 for £40 offer on last week when I bought mine. Think it's still on.

thedevilinablackdress · 17/04/2017 11:23

I second People Tree, great quality, free delivery and as a bonus, a very ethical company.

Alicekeach · 17/04/2017 11:28

Seasalt.

ElspethFlashman · 17/04/2017 11:31

Joules. Thick enough to hide a multitude. I'm 5'7 & long waisted and it's plenty long enough.

Dogblep · 17/04/2017 11:33

I love La Redoute

GloriaGilbert · 17/04/2017 11:41

I've bought probably five from Boden and returned them all - way too short/small.

Give Joules a try, they are perfect.

I also second Lands End but they run pretty big.

GloriaGilbert · 17/04/2017 11:42

I'm 5.8 also and the Joules size 10 hits me perfectly, i.e. well below the bulge.
