Wet brush - OMG!!!

Imscarlet · 14/04/2017 21:51

DD, 6, curly ringlets. This is the best thing ever!! I have used tangle teasers and tangle tamers, they don't work. I had resorted to using a comb and combing from the ends. It took 20 mins. I used the wet brush tonight for the 2nd time. 2 mins, it just brushes right through. It is bloody amazing!!

I got a wet brush in a birchbox a while back and I agree, it's amazing! I have to wear my long and curly hair in a tight up-do for work and it gets really tangled (how?!) and the wet brush just sails through every snag.
This is gross but I went through a really bad depressed period about a month ago and didn't take care of myself at all, including not washing or brushing my hair for a week and it was basically a giant mat that my normal wide tooth comb wouldn't have made it through but the wet brush managed it in about 15 minutes.

As the owner of a curly child who INSISTS on brushing her hair a good brush is a blessing. I may try it Smile

Brighteyes27 · 16/04/2017 18:54

My daughter has straight tatty hair it gets so tangled at the back and is equally stubborn about brushing it yet mostly still misses the clumps underneath at the back. She minds less when we take over with this brush.

XiCi · 17/04/2017 12:52

These are amazing. DDs hair is fine and tangles easily, it used to be a nightmare getting the tangles out after a bath. This sorts them out quickly and painlessly, no screaming dd as I try to get the tangle teaser through. It doesn't really work on dry hair as the bristles are too soft but on wet hair it's unbelievably good.

Another fan here and I have very curly hair. This brush amazed me for how easy it is to gently deknot hair. However of course it also breaks up the curl - though not too much frizz which is also amazing. I only use it before I wash my hair but it's so nice to not have so many s of hair coming out in the shower.

ArriettyClock1 · 17/04/2017 13:27

I have long curly hair and this sort of brush is the last thing I'd use - it would wreck my hair and the curl, even though it's thick and strong. It would go through my hair, but leave me with atrocious frizz.

The only thing I can use is a particular wide toothed comb when my hair is wet.

clearwinter · 17/04/2017 13:39

That's where this brush is different. It doesn't cause the type of frizz you'd expect with curly hair.

AnnieOH1 · 17/04/2017 13:50

B&M sell one called a showerbrush. It is either £2.49 or possibly £1.99, exactly the same product. It is very different from a standard paddle although I have no idea why. Best thing for my super fine irritating hair!

Unicorn81 · 17/04/2017 20:49

I have one of these and they are great for tugs, i have straight hair but it gets into knots easily, worth the money for sure. I also havd tangls teezer buy wet brush is more flexible and does pull or hurt

Mrs9C · 19/04/2017 19:56

I've got one, but if you order (clicked through from Swears By email), please make sure it's the real deal from ie. Boots or somewhere, not Amazon. They are selling a replica for the same price as the real thing, and it's nowhere as good. Even my 9 yo daughter is pointing out the difference to me now I have the real one, and won't use her Amazon purchase one (which indecently I bought believing it was the real one).

Mrs9C · 19/04/2017 19:59

Have just checked, and most annoyingly Swears By have actually linked to the fake Amazon for purchase DON'T DO IT! I paid £6 in-store for a real one in Boots a couple of weeks ago, can't see it online.

kingscrossnoodle · 19/04/2017 20:17

What's swearsb?

Is the link above not to a genuine brush? I just got mine today :(

MycatsaPirate · 19/04/2017 20:22

Does no one else just comb or brush through hair while hair is full of conditioner before rinsing?

I then put John Freida anti-frizz stuff on our hair (me and DD) while it's still wet and leave it to dry naturally.

Result: untangled, free free, shiny hair.

Mrs9C · 19/04/2017 20:32

kingscrossnoodle the link isn't to the 'real' genuine 'the wet brush' but a very good copy. If you've not used it before it'll be fine, but I got annoyed at Amazon for thinking I was buying the real make when it wasn't. Since buying the real one in Boots I can see a difference. Both are good for detangling, but it's just an annoyance.

Mrs9C · 19/04/2017 20:33

Swears By is a weekly email of a round up of recommended products from mums net www.mumsnet.com/swearsby

kingscrossnoodle · 19/04/2017 20:53

Ah ffs - I suppose I should have checked eh

kingscrossnoodle · 19/04/2017 20:55

If you've not used it before it'll be fine it probably will be, but that's not exactly the point. I bought it thinking it was a legit brush worth paying the money for. Now it's just any other paddle brush. Totally my own fault for being stupid enough to follow a link and believe it to be genuine.

Housewife2010 · 19/04/2017 21:09

I bought one and didn't like it. It didnt work for my daughter or me. We both have ling hair. I prefer to use a wide toothed comb with conditioner when wet and a Mason Pearson brush when wet. I neverr brush wet hair when it is at its weakest ( except when I was testing the Wet Brush which was useless).

YellowRoss · 19/04/2017 21:18

Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation, I bought a real wet brush from boots this week and it's fantastic.

Good on my wavy hair but got major thumbs up from curly girl 5yo dd, we usually use a tangle teezer.

Thanks

Mrs9C · 19/04/2017 22:45

Here is the difference in the logo, and the paddle itself. The Amazon one is squashy, whereas the one purchased in Boots is firm.

kingscrossnoodle · 19/04/2017 22:54

Mine looks exactly like the bottom one Confused

I'm really confused now.

dottybooboo22 · 20/04/2017 04:34

so are you saying that the Swearsby link on here is fake??????

kingscrossnoodle · 20/04/2017 08:21

This is the brush I bought. Thinking for about it though, and looking at the link, perhaps I followed the link then searched Amazon for better deals to have managed to get this Confused

Wet brush - OMG!!!
kingscrossnoodle · 20/04/2017 08:22

Also i think admin should either remove the above link or at the very least add a fake warning. People may just click and buy. I am going to report this post.

Mrs9C · 20/04/2017 09:00

kingscrossnoodle that's the 'real' one, you're ok!
