Wet brush - OMG!!!

Imscarlet · 14/04/2017 21:51

DD, 6, curly ringlets. This is the best thing ever!! I have used tangle teasers and tangle tamers, they don't work. I had resorted to using a comb and combing from the ends. It took 20 mins. I used the wet brush tonight for the 2nd time. 2 mins, it just brushes right through. It is bloody amazing!!

I picked mine up in a chemist

MNHQ UPDATE Folks, it looks like this link above might be to a fake, Imscarlet just grabbed it quickly, however reading further down the thread it looks like this one is kosher. www.amazon.co.uk/Wet-Brush-Shine-Detangling-Hair/dp/B00F973L8C/ref=sr_1_15_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1492675501&sr=1-15&keywords=wet+brush+pro&tag=mumsnetforum-21 Cheers, HelenMNHQ

Just look up Wet Brush on Amazon I have (a giraffe print) one for my vault tatty hair and DD has (a purple) one for her thick tatty hair. I agree they are pretty good.

kingscrossnoodle · 14/04/2017 22:10

How is it different to any other paddle brush? Other than it's price tag?

Imscarlet · 14/04/2017 22:32

It doesn't hurt - ie no screaming like a tortured banshee and goes through the knots in no time. DD won't let a paddle brush anywhere near her!

But what does it to differently to other paddle brushes and tangle teezers? What makes it go through the mats and knots differently?

Looking for hope!

bluebump · 14/04/2017 22:48

I just got one this week, it's great.

kingscrossnoodle · 14/04/2017 23:09

Yes that's what I meant, how is it different? In what way? What makes it work differently to every other brush it looks like?

My youngest has nightmare hair and I have tried so many brushes, but looking at this I really don't see anything that would make me choose it

Sciurus83 · 14/04/2017 23:41

Had one for about a year and I will never go back to tangle teaser. They are SO GOOD, barely any breakage. They don't look like they would be much different to a normal brush when you look at it but it's something about the softness of the bristles that makes it really something else. If you're thinking about it just do it!

agrumpymum · 14/04/2017 23:44

They're brilliant! Like a pp said, the bristles are much softer than a tangle teaser but they really do go through tangles.

Voice0fReason · 14/04/2017 23:45

They are brilliant - they are just so soft to use, they never seem to pul or hurt.

sems · 15/04/2017 02:31

Aww thanks, just ordered! I have a dad with crazy red curly hair. Praying it helps us

krisskross · 15/04/2017 12:35

thanks!

trickydickie · 15/04/2017 13:07

I know it's called the "wet" brush. Does anyone know if it is good for getting tangles, knots out of dry hair? Thanks.

fluffiphlox · 15/04/2017 13:40

A dad?

EnidButton · 15/04/2017 14:21

I wouldn't ever brush curly hair. Always a very wide toothed comb. Brushes break up the curl which is why it goes wild and frizzy.

AliceKlar · 15/04/2017 15:14

Do you think they'd work for very fine/thin hair that knots and tangles terribly? DD has a tangle teaser but it sounds like it's ripping her hair apart when she brushes it.. She has major split ends.

agrumpymum · 15/04/2017 15:24

Alice DD has long, fine hair with a natural curl. It gets so tangled but the brush definitely gets it tangled free.

Yes, it's good for dry hair.

Babyiwantabump · 15/04/2017 16:26

I have one - agree it is amazing!

LogonMounstuart · 15/04/2017 18:11

Good on dry and fine hair but you can't use it with a hairdryer as it ruins the lovely soft bristles

Brighteyes27 · 15/04/2017 19:44

It's great in the shower for combing through conditioner on any type of hair. It's also great on dry tangley hair adults or child's. The brushes are different lengths unless your DC are very young buy the larger size brushes especially if you or your DH are sometimes intending brushing there hair as well sometimes.

olderthanyouthink · 15/04/2017 21:11

Loads of conditioner, fingers then comb. Best thing for curls.

AliceKlar · 15/04/2017 22:02

Thanks for this I'm going to get one for DD

AuroraBora · 15/04/2017 23:21

As someone who was a curly child, please don't dry brush curls Sad if you must brush, do it wet in the bath with loads of conditioner. My mother brushed my curls and I hated my hair until I was 21 and learned how to style it.

Look up the curly girl method to see how to care for curls, it's life changing.
