Dungarees on the over-40s...

I am currently coveting a pair of lightweight indigo denim Gap dungarees. I am 43.

I'm aware that this is an item of clothing that probably divides opinion more than any other. But I put them on and couldn't stop grinning yes, possibly in manner of CBeebies presenter

I would wear them with converse/Superga and a close-fitting tee underneath.

I'm kidding myself, aren't I?

They'd be nice for painting and diy. Otherwise no.

I actually want one but I guess they’re not suited for bigger upper body no? My upper body is big and I have no curves. You can probably say I am shaped like a rectangle. Legs are long and slim, but broad shoulder, big torso, flat chest, big arms.

There's a pair of dungarees for everyone :)

Hi all, just purchased my first pair of dungarees since teenagerhood, and am in mid forties. I've bravely worn them with a jumper over them today, but want to wear them without fear of judgement. Interesting to see the mix of comments, but I'm going with 'we should be able to wear what we want at whatever age' ethos, not the 'delusional twat' one.

I may be the oldest dungaree wearer on mumsnet - 61. I know I look nice in them, get lots of compliments and there is no way on earth I would let my age dictate what I would wear - though common sense dictates no gold hot pants. Mine are Top Shop black Moto ones, with slightly distressed knees. I wear them with Hush Brighton sandals and a 3/4 sleeved tight white T shirt at the moment. This is about the 5th thread I have posted on with this information - I can't understand why anyone would be embarrassed about wearing dungarees because of their age.

I'm 44 and fat and I love my dungarees, they are quite slim fitting black ones and for some unknown reason they make me look about half the size I normally do. I also up the retro look with them. Or wear them with mary jane dms and a skinny t.

The Lucy and Yak website has someone who may be even older than me modelling them. Even the more fitted ones skim over a bit of a tummy.

Now I am on the lucy and yak website and I think I will be poorer very soon.
