Shall I keep the denim jacket or send it back?

Who out there has a denim jacket? Do you wear it a lot?

I've just ordered one and wondering if I should keep it or send it back. I used to have one which I didn't wear very much.

I'm just the wrong side of 35 and a bit overweight if that makes a difference.

I only wear mine in summer, again over a summer dress or skirt/ tshirt combo (to avoid the double denim thing).

I could probably live without it, but it's handy for those four or five warm-ish days a year!

DavetheCat2001 · 05/04/2017 13:53

I have 2 denim jackets and wear them loads in the summer.

Keep it!

BusterGonad · 05/04/2017 14:02

Any chance of a picture?

sweetheart · 05/04/2017 14:05

it's this one

Yep , I wear them loads in the summer , perfect for wearing with patterned trousers and over dresses .

TisapityshesaGeordie · 05/04/2017 14:07

Mine is 20 years old - bought it as a teenager! Still gets worn every spring and summer.

RatherBeRiding · 05/04/2017 14:07

Nice. Can't beat a classic denim jacket. Really useful over dresses, skirts, linen trousers etc.

DavetheCat2001 · 05/04/2017 14:09

I've got one from Oasis as well, looks very similar to yours OP.

They're cut very nicely and look great with dresses and skinnies.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 05/04/2017 14:16

It is slightly stonewashed? I'm looking for a dark denim one at the moment. Ideally I'd like it more like a block colour (ink) than washed effect. Hard to find one that has a nice fit too though.

Botanicbaby · 05/04/2017 14:49

Lovely I think they are classics though saying that I don't have one at the moment.

Have had so many over the years in various shapes, colours & sizes!

IHaveBrilloHair · 05/04/2017 14:51

I've got one, great with dresses in summer

Judydreamsofhorses · 05/04/2017 15:05

I wear mine loads in spring summer - today I had it on with a black leather skirt, black jumper and opaque tights so it doesn't need to be really summery - and find it a really useful item. Mine's fairly dark blue fromTopshop, but I had a very pale Primark one which I wore absolutely loads until I replaced it with this one a couple of years back.

BusterGonad · 05/04/2017 15:11

It looks lovely, and you are definitely not too old for it.

sweetheart · 05/04/2017 15:13

Maybe i should look in Primark to get a cheaper one if I'm not sure I'll wear it much

wild rose - it's quite dark, I wouldn't call it stone washed. Esprit was linked to on another thread and they have loads of denim jackets in lots of differ enc colours

It's a lovely jacket. Your age and weight don't matter.

I have one which I don't wear an awful lot tbh because I wear jeans most of the time and won't do double denim. It's a look I remember from my youth, I didn't like it then either.

SapphireSeptember · 05/04/2017 15:47

Ooh, I love the rose gold buttons. Keep it, I have two, one dark blue denim that's the same sort of style as the one you've ordered but with gunmetal buttons, and a lighter blue one that's sort of 80s style with silver buttons. I love them both, especially now it's warm enough to wear them. ❤

That's a nice jacket and I think it's a good price. I wear a denim jacket on warm summer days as my coat. I'll wear it with anything, a summer dress, skirt, jeans - I don't really mind being seen in double or mismatched denim either. I just bought myself a new one in the mid season sales as last year's is a bit big due to weight loss.

Lucked · 05/04/2017 17:44

I bought one in Hush a couple of years ago and was similarly unsure but it is really useful in summer.

DavetheCat2001 · 06/04/2017 09:25

keepon I find my oasis jacket fits really nicely, I too like mine fitted well.

DavetheCat2001 · 06/04/2017 09:25

..I do have a smallish chest though (34A)

Sonotkylie · 06/04/2017 12:08

I am 50 next month. I don't think (memory lapse) that I have ever had a denim jacket UNTIL THIS YEAR ... I love it and have worn it lots over jumpers and just breaking it out over t shirts. It just works. Like a denim shirt but sort of 'more'. That said I think the fit has to be perfect for you (not necessarily fitted but not too long or too short or too bulky or too anything really). I have been trying to find one for a few years now and only found the one this year (Gap 'vintage'). Good luck. If you like it you'll wear it.

dudsville · 06/04/2017 16:29

I have a white one and a black one and I find them really useful. I think a blue denim jacket is really nice but it doesn't feel right on me.
