What colour are your nails at the moment?

Not had one of these for a while!
Just had a dark teal glitter gel polish for my birthday next week and am really happy with it

William tell me about OPI - almost-black burgundy. Need to switch to something springier really.

Thanks for the clean up video. I am going to Boots later for Essie polish, a brush and some acetone remover. I will post a picture once I have tried it out. What Essie colours are nice? I was looking at them last week and there are so many colours I couldn't choose.

KarmaKit did you freehand the tips?

blueskyinmarch sounds obvious, but practice practice practice. Buy cheap polish with a nice brush (Primark 80p stuff is fine). Paint one stroke down the middle, and then one either side. Be decisive with your strokes, don't wibble. Then take it all off and start again. Keep doing it and you will get better. Use pale colours to start with so if you make a little mistake it doesn't show as much.

I'm not a fan of the "slap it on and clean it up" technique. Practicing until you can do it without clean up will give you a much nicer finish.

Bluesky, you can also try Bourjois 1 sec, Maybelline superstay, Dior&Guerlain (for the occasional treat)& some Barry M. They all have a nice and easy round flat brush.
Essence polishes are good too, for the price you can't go wrong!

You would really think by the age of 54 i would have got the hang of painting my nails! My DD’s just slap it on and it always looks nice and mine looks like it was put on by a 5 year old. I love shellac because it always looks great and it lasts for about 3 weeks but it is expensive and makes my nails brittle and weaker. I have managed to get the whole cuticle tidying sorted though. It is a good start!

I've only recently grown my nails to a decent length, painting them exciting colours really helps me stop biting them.

Kit I don't slap it on like the video, I do it like you describe. I think she does that to demonstrate the clean up technique better. I'm very careful but some does get on the edges and the bottom isn't perfectly curved so I use the brush remover technique.

I've just painted mine in the sun!

Primark have got a little refillable varnish correction pen for about a quid. Comes with about three replaceable tips. Might be worth a go.
